don't do this There are people who can't type flawlessly while inebriated? I've always thought of it as an excuse to slam your keyboard against a wall and hit 'submit'.Speaking of which, we should have a Septagon drunk night.

I shall never understand people who drink and their problem with typing. I could be plastered, doing shot after shot on tinychat with people and still be able to type properly. pretty sure people just fake it it's just to let everyone know how cool/funny/cute you are when you're drunk

Is it similar to the first in that it takes four hours to tell an hour and a half story? but nuance
What?
pacing and shit little things that further emotionally attach you to the story on a subconscious level

I'd describe Tetris as being an actively constructed puzzle, where as most puzzles (especially physical ones) are passive or preconstructed. The preconstructed puzzles, such as the Tower of Hanoi (which I absolutely loathe), are all about the destination. Active puzzles are about the journey.
Tetris has always made me anxious, there's no real winning or solving it. You just see how long it takes you to lose.
well yeah, it's a "high score" game, a relic of the retro era, which, as you know, i hold dear i would make the argument that zelda (any of them) is an engaging AND passive puzzle game and while it's obviously not strictly a puzzle game, it is the closest thing i can think of to really nail it

You spent over an hour trying to figure out one of the rooms? i said an hour not over an hour either way, that's extremely, extremely common and you're just desperately grasping for straws just to insult me But Verb, doesn't your complaint about Portal's brand of fun extend to puzzles in general? That's how most are anyway. not good ones tetris, for example, actually engages you through the gameplay alone portal has... funny dialogue?... i guess

Oh, and GLaDOS. She helps create the illusion that you're having fun, too, by making you laugh.

The thing about Portal was that it only made you feel good whenever you passed a test or whatever. You felt smart after passing that one room you spent an hour trying to figure out (unless you looked it up, in which case, you're a dumbass moron loser pants). But those were the only times it was fun for me.
The game ITSELF wasn't fun. It just felt good when you were done with it.
To me, that's not what a good game is!

People cream their pants over Valve in general.
I loathe everything they've ever made. I've been meaning to try Half-Life, though.

It's a geek xD culture game. Like Zelda (but not as good) it's a good game, but the meme spouting and "fanbase" around it are intolerable. Did you just compare the Portal fanbase to the Zelda fanbase?...
