when we fully domesticate the bear we will be unstoppable
You do know a domesticated bear would be a wimpy watered down version of the real thing right
nope wrong when you submit to something else you get more powerful because you have something to protect

Marketing On February 4, 1997, Disney began its marketing campaign by starting a five-month promotional traveling tour, called Disney's Hercules Mega Mall Tour Sponsored by Chevy Venture, throughout 20 cities starting first in Atlanta, Georgia. Previously used for the marketing campaigns for Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the tour featured eleven attractions including a multimedia stage show, a miniature carousel themed to Baby Pegasus, a carnival with Hercules-themed game booths, and a ten-minute animation workshop hosted by animator Andreas Deja where visitors would try their hand at drawing Hercules.[48][49][50]
On June 14, the premiere of the film was accompanied with an electric light parade held in Times Square. The parade of electrified floats traveled from 42nd Street to Fifth Avenue and 66th Street with included attendees such as Lauren Hutton, Harvey Keitel, Andy Garcia, Barbara Walters, Michael Bolton, and Marilu Henner, as well as Olympic athletes who later rode on thirty floats in the parade.[51] The media event was not without controversy as former New York mayor Ed Koch objected to surrendering the city over Disney, and critics raising questions about what politicians are willing to give a private firm in return for investment.[52] Also, nearly 100 members of National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians used the occasion to strike for a new contract from Disney/ABC,[53] with local union president Tony Capitano who complained that "I think the Mayor gave away the city to Disneyland", and 5,000 businesses and residents who felt unusually eerie upon being asked to dim their lights as the parade passed.[54] Following the parade, a private party was held at the Chelsea Piers complex, where dinner guests was served to a performance of Susan Egan singing songs from the movie along the Hudson River, and ten minutes of fireworks display.[51]
Additionally, the film was accompanied with a marketing campaign with promotional tie-ins with 85 licensees including McDonald's, Mattel, Nestlé, Hallmark[55][56][57] and various merchandise.[58] Hercules was also received the first Disney on Ice adaptation before the film was theatrically released.[59] Imagine people being this unabashedly into this project, isn't there something awesome about the old ways we would market movies? Now it's "stick Elsa on an umbrella, put Maui in a happy meal, and call it a day."

not interested in discussing how realistic things are in an alternate universe disney cartoon w/ magic carpets and genies
This is always a weird argument. Yes, some narrative universes have aspects that are more ridiculous than ours, but any good universe is internally consistent. Look at Harry Potter, it's crazy to us that there's magic, vampires, and mythical creatures, but the universe makes sense with the rules it created. Aladdin is the same way, and at first it looked like Genie didn't grant Aladdin's wish at all (breaking the rules they set up for their universe), but he in fact did, just in a clever way.

just do it lol
it sucks not having your own place
an apartment is just as much "your own place" as your parents' is
yeah but what about the heart wrenching shame of not having your own place as an adult

oh boy it's almost as if these things don't matter cos it's a cartoon
Imagine thinking this hard about a fucking children's cartoon
hahaha I knew these posts were coming
Disney is an awesome company and they write great stories, they intend their films for children and adults
Walt Disney was a pedophile nazi
That's great!
He's dead, you know!
He was the company. When he was alive was when most of the cartoons were made, and there were a lot of visual references to Hitler and Nazis, as well as a lot of other racist portrayals of different races. One that comes to mind is the beginning of Dumbo where the black workers building the circus in the rain are portrayed as these large almost gorilla like figures with big lips and small eyes.
So no, I wouldn't call Disney a great company and a lot of their work is highly overrated, to the point where the stuff I just mentioned is overlooked or outright ignored because of their "classic" status or that "it was a different time".
Well, it was. Do we discredit all art because the artist was born in a bad time, and that time is reflected on their work? Besides, the golden age of Disney occured well after his death (late 80s-current).

I'm trying to figure out what year Aladdin is set in
No cars, guards use swords... but the Genie turns into what looks like a german submarine
that's part of what makes the Genie so surreal, otherworldly, and powerful - he's the only character in the film that makes those anachronistic references to things that haven't happened yet

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskScienceFiction/comments/3vimpz/aladdin_where_was_ali_ababwa_the_prince_of/[Aladdin] Where was Ali Ababwa the prince of? Did Genie magic a country into existence, insert him into some royal family, or was it all just an elaborate show? Genies always seem to actually grant wishes, so he must be a prince of something. That's something that always bothered me. Aladdin specifically wished to be made a Prince - not "look like", the real thing. So why does the Genie keep bothering him to "Tell her the TRUTH!" when Ali really is a prince? And if he isn't, why didn't the Genie make him one? This is all on the blue guy. At first, Aladdin was a fake prince (Genie's act, convincing the city with the big song/facade), but because of the "in" that being a fake prince provided, he was later able to marry Jasmine and become a real prince. Genie made Ali Ababwa the prince of Agrabah itself (in the long run), that's the genius & obvious answer to this oft recited criticism of the movie. Genie insisted he "tell her the truth" because that's how he got Jasmine to love him, accept him, and marry him - therefore fulfilling the wish of becoming a prince. I really wish reddit didn't close commenting after a year, because it's annoying to see this go unanswered when the question doesn't even bother to think about what happened in the film.

lol guys, Dennis Reynolds is definitely coming back, didn't you see GH's tweets? Funny thing is that in an attempt to preserve the suspense and keep it ambiguous, he pretty much confirmed his character's return. This is a plot thing, it's a narrative arc. Dennis is going to come back at a point pivotal to the story, especially since Glenn Howerton as a writer/producer is indisputably staying aboard

arplayer2k 30 points · 1 month ago This. Give us 7 seasons to get to know John, in the "real shit," in a leadership role, and I'm confident our optimistic outlook of him would be different.

MooneMoose 12 points · 1 month ago I don't see John taking leadership role. He'd be more of a 'supporter' type role, like Morgan's support, and honestly there is nothing wrong with that.
Rick had to take the fall for being a leader many times. Leaders have to be assertive and aggressive, even more so in a world like TWD. So John would be able to stick to his moral compass more so, by supporting others rather than directing them.

arplayer2k 5 points · 1 month ago I agree John is more of a supporting role character. The reality of the new universe is what made Rick into who he is. It wasn’t until he became the bad guy he was always fighting that he care to realize who he had become before trying to get back on the straight and narrow.
