Wow
Is this really the drama of the day? Pip is using Verbatim's avatar, big fucking deal.
yeah, borderline impersonation and harassment for no good reason is no big deal
It's not impersonation. Impersonation has the motive of actually trying to be perceived as the other person, trying to trick others into thinking you're them. Pip isn't talking like you, he didn't change his name to "Verbatim", he didn't make a new account with the ID "VerbatΔ±m". All of these things would constitute impersonation, not switching your avatar and using a gimmick name as a joke. And if you seriously think this is harassment, you've just never been harrassed. It's a retarded idea and pretty cringy, but your reaction to it was far worse. Literally not a big deal at all, and the fact you sincerely want him to be banned over what comes down to him using your avatar is ridiculously petty.

AI has been in Fallout since the beginning
It's more AI in a human body that thinks it's human that's the issue. JHE, Skynet etc were all fully aware they were machines - Synths think they're human and that's the issue in FO4
sorry, just nitpicking
anyway I don't see what makes AI any different from heroes or zombies. The only difference is AI is relatively new and you're not tired of it yet.
No, the difference is that robots on Fallout are programmed to respond in specific ways to specific situations, where synths are "true" AI that can learn and feel legitimate emotion. That's why a Mr Handy or Sentry Bot stays in one place for hundreds of years, following its programming and guarding it. Why Codsworth waits at your house until the master he was programmed to follow reappears.
There's some ambiguity whether Gen 1 and 2 synths are more akin to this, but it's been confirmed that Gen 3's are human on every mental level.
And what makes AI different isn't that I'm not tired of them yet, its that the market itself hasn't completely been overwhelmed with AI media.
As a sidenote though, AI are a lot more interesting to me than either zombies or superheroes. Both are so boring IMO.
I wasn't talking about generic protectrons and sentry bots. I specifically said John Henry Eden, Skynet, that one AI from Fallout 1 (Name I can't remember) that were all fully self aware. John Henry Eden limited access to him beyond Autumn to maintain the illusion the President was a human for that reason. We've not seen a true AI in a sentry (or whatever) yet, to my knowledge. The ones we have seen have all been stationary requiring massive complexes and power sources to maintain. However, they were still in big computers, even if they were self aware. Synths are the first to have been put in a human body.
Honestly, the idea of synths creeps me out. I'm still not sure how I feel about research going down that path.
Oh, I see what you meant now. And yeah, it seems the main problem with synths is the lack of transparency. With a ZAX computer, while it might be able to sound and behave like a human, it's obviously a computer. A synth can trick others into thinking otherwise. It is a scary kind of thing, and I see the Fallout universe being changed pretty dramatically past 4 because of them.

im of the opinion that just about everyone currently immortalized on american coins and dollars needs to be replaced.
This is ridiculous. You don't start changing historical artifacts and memorials to suit the social climate of the time. For better or worse, those we honor through currency and names on buildings were important figures of the nation.
their stories should be taught to the people within their contexts. we shouldnt celebrate genocidal maniacs like jackson by spreading their image around via currency. this isnt like sandblasting the memorial on stone mountain. youre retarded.
I'm retarded? I'm not the one who sincerely thinks having someone's representation on a government artifact means the government condones what they did. We have an officially maintained Robert E. Lee memorial, because he was a big part of a huge, defining moment in our country's history. Andrew Jackson is no different.
There's no difference between a representation on a government bill and representation on a government memorial. If you think one necessitates acceptance of the person as a whole, then the other would also have to.
It's most definitely an implicit approval of his person. And yes, you are retarded, I dunno why you asked.
Oh my god, you're legitimately mentally slow in some way if you're not trolling right now. Historical monuments don't imply approval in any form, they exist solely to remember our past and where we've been. Greece has state-recognozed sites and monuments to ancient rulers; would you really say that's an approval of everything that historically displaced person ever did? I guess that means the nation of Greece doesn't have a problem with a torture device like the Brazen Bull. When you apply this ridiculously liberal standard to representing historical figures in our monuments to any country that's not less than 300 years old, you see how the logic completely falls apart.

The point is that I can get completely shitfaced/schwasted/blitzed out of my mind and I wont post anything like this thread because I'm a different type of person.
it's a fucking 420 post, jesus christ everyone freaks out over nothing If we don't have to see this when he's sober, then that's 100% all we care about, but I agree, he has an attitude issue... as well as a person issue where his personality and way of living is bad
I've been getting this a lot and I really don't know what to do I guess I have a bad personality

then don't bitch about how his post had nothing to do with yours, when it obviously did but it didn't, because i'm on about the principle of sobriety itself
i honestly don't give a fuck about how you act while sober or otherwise
insobriety, in itself, should be bannable--regardless of how you behave
there should be a breathalyzer set built into every computer for situations like these

the point was that even if you ban non sober posting it wouldn't change the creation of threads like these because "The drug is only a catalyst to intensify an attitude that already exists."
do you actually believe that i give a single fuck
then don't bitch about how his post had nothing to do with yours, when it obviously did is this damage control or something, I'm so confused

holy shit if you really couldn't understand what this means then you're not nearly as smart as you project yourself as
i understood exactly what he meant
the "uhhh" was because i haven't the ghostliest fucking idea just how it pertained to what i said at all

we need to make a rule prohibiting non-sober posting
This type of thing is a result of personality. The drug is only a catalyst to intensify an attitude that already exists.
uhhhhhhh, okay

The quote could be talking about 100,000 guilty men and you'd still be fucked up to disagree with it.
So with about 1.5 million inmates in the US, an estimated 2.5% of whom are innocent, you would advocate releasing everyone currently incarcerated to give the innocent ones relief?
There's a point where even I would concede to doing immoral things, when they have to be done. That doesn't make the act any less wrong on a moral scale, but it's a necessary atrocity to prevent full-on chaos, which would be unjust towards the rest of the country. The real problem is how those 2.5% people who are in prison for something they never did got there in the first place.
