I liked it. Not bad like people were saying IMO. Except that Leia scene. Lol... The humor wasn't too much either. People said it's like a Marvel film. But. It's not.
thank you, yes, the quips and humor in this movie really wasn't that fucking bad but i didn't even mind "super leia" it didn't even cross my mind as something that would be memed to death on the internet

Weird alien shit in the new Star Wars:
- Rathtars in TFA - Tentacle monster in Rogue One - Alien Tits in TLJ
Seems to be a pattern here. Wonder what weird alien shit will be in Ep 9.
were just gonna flat out get an alien dick that landos gonna be sucking when finn comes to find his father
the milky bobe alien wasn’t that weird it’s just the way they used it
Ah yes, the family-friendly franchise known as Star Wars has a scene where one of the most iconic characters in the franchise milks a 4-tit alien creature. Totally not weird at all for anybody, especially entire families with little kids watching.
Cows stupid fat fuck

But can we all at least agree that despite whatever problems this new 'trilogy' has, Kylo Ren is the best part of it? I never get bored watching him.
we can definitely agree on that

Spoiler I do like that this film wasn't just a fan-servicey fulfillment of the biggest theories. It didn't open with Luke taking the place of Rey's Yoda, telling her about her legendary parents, turning her into another jedi. Snoke wasn't an important villain any more than Hux is. Finn and Rose didn't succeed in their adventure and save the day. Poe also didn't save the day just by virtue of being a heroic lead character. It definitely fulfilled the role of a 2nd film in a trilogy.
It defied expectations in a lot of really exciting ways, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it... I'm not excited about the Han Solo film though.
turkey rolling in with the best opinions in the thread

Yes it fucking does. you misunderstand me Spoiler he dies, but he doesn't die "like a nobody"; it all happens during a very plot-heavy scene where the only reason he died at all is because of his failure to account for his apprentice's true allegiances, which makes for an excellent establishing character moment for kylo
you shouldn't care about him, because he's not the most interesting thing about the story
i'd like to learn more about him as well, but him dying doesn't mean those answers won't be given
but they're answers i personally don't need or want, because i never gave a shit about snoke as a character anyway

The lasers fired by snoke's flagship arcing through SPACE like artillery triggered me
Physics in SW have always been stupid. It didn't bother me.
What does bother me is the 7km Dreadnought having a measly 24 point defense cannons.
It's like they wanted it to get destroyed.

Spoiler More medium and two-shots would be nice though. Cinematography was pretty stale outside of the action sequences.
Spoiler um, did you SEE the trippy mirror sequence i walked out of this movie thinking that the cinematography was noticeably of a higher caliber than most other SW films

I'm so happy to get a safe RoTJ ripoff for 9 because everybody keeps badmouthing this one.
JJ please fill me with NOSTALGIA
MAKE ME CLAP WHEN I SEE THINGS I KNOW
i honestly felt like this was the rotj ripoff it was different enough for me to consider it one of my new favorites, of course but the parallels to the OT were definitely tipped in rotj's scale, i think

Spoiler The casino part and the dog-horse race afterwards was one of the worst sequences in any Star Wars movie. Not just "one of" the worst. It's IS the worst right next to...Spoiler The four-dicked mlik monsters.
They can put Jar Jar back into the movie as a main characjter for all I care just as long as I never have to see that part again.
Spoiler i knew there would be some babies complaining about that part
it was literally nothing
you drink milk from animals just as smelly and gross looking

Spoiler anyone else feel snoke was disappointing? I thought he'd detect what kylo was doing but nope. Him falling off the the throne was pretty satisfying tho
Spoiler Kylo tricked Snoke; he was moving the lightsaber in his hands at the same time as the lightsaber next to Snoke.
no no no no NO, YOU BOTH HAVE IT ALL WRONG Spoiler snoke never failed to detect what kylo was doing, and he wasn't "tricked," per se
snoke knew exactly what kylo was doing
"Pathetic child. I cannot be betrayed, I cannot be beaten. I see his mind, I see his every intent. Yes. I see him turning the lightsaber to strike true. And now, foolish child. He ignites it, and kills his true enemy!"
the only thing he failed to account for was the fact that his "true enemy" was not rey, it was snoke himself
so if anything, snoke fooled himself, kylo did not fool him
that's what made that scene so amazing, and that's why snoke's death isn't just a throwaway thing; it's a major character moment for kylo ren

Spoiler That ending shot with the Force using kid felt tacked on purely to set him up in a later film. Ugh.
Spoiler okay in hindsight i didn't like this either
there were at least 4 or 5 moments where the movie could've ended, but didn't, which is among my only 3 major problems with the film

Spoiler the movie was too quippy.
Spoiler not really
there was like one, MAYBE two inappropriate jokes, and i can't even remember what they were

Spoiler But then there's shit like Snoke dying like a fucking nobody
Spoiler this never happened Spoiler All of the different moments where they could have committed to something that pulls the rug out from under you but didn't are very obvious and I would've applauded them had they fully gone through with each and everyone but they don't, they copped out every time. Rey venturing to the dark side, KILLING fucking Leia, Rey going with Kylo's plan, killing Finn (that would've made the movie an instant 10/10), Kylo turning back to Ben, they could've done any of these things but chose not too. I hope they're lack of action on these was more caused by spending too much fucking time with the damn cruiser chase.
god all of those ideas are awful lmao

Now a lot of critics are saying TLJ is the best, even better than Empire.
I really can't understand how professional critics are saying this.
i can i guess that's why you're not a professional critic

Spoiler What did you think of Super-Leia?
And the completely pointless Finn sidequest
Spoiler Really stupid. Just like half the other things in the movie. The predictable hail mary in the opening fight. The fact that every important character comes close to dying but doesn't. (Leia in space, Poe with the explosion in the hangar, Finn with the execution, Rose with the speeder, Rey with Snoke). The "don't attack what you hate, save what you love". The everyone knows Luke is going to train her but let's spend the first half of the movie on her trying to convince him. The "wow we got locked up with a master code cracker just when we needed one?". The "wow it's the little kid who's going through the exact same thing Rose went through who now just happens to be where they're escaping". The "wow they're about to be arrested or killed when somehow BB8 and hackerman just so know where they are". The comic relief reactions when almost killed and the fate of the entire galaxy seems doomed but haha this is a natural response. The entire "our guns aren't accurate enough, we're just too slow and they're just too fast so we'll just do this for the next 18 hours" bullshit. And so, so much more.
Don't get me wrong, there was really good stuff too. The overall sound, visuals, action and plot. Finn and Rose meeting. The Rey + Kylo and Snoke moment. The admiral's plan and Finn's reaction / character development. Kylo becoming the Supreme Leader. Rey's parents actually being nobodies (subject to change, of course). But the bad stuff was so eye-rollingly bad that it actually annoyed me.
i highlighted the only things that matter in red the things that only half-mattered are highlighted in yellow

so, i just got back from TLJ
this was very very good, guys
i think this is probably my new favorite star wars movie
time to read 10 pages worth of your pitiful opinions about it
I've been hearing the opposite. Nobody thought it was good from friends and family.
that's because all your friends and family are fucking idiots

lmao who gets christmas presents
youre an adult
christmas is for the atmosphere and season, not strengthening of the pseudo-capitalist regime

you have it backwards
the fact that sex is just a base desire that we'd be better off without is precisely why i hate the idea of "casual" sex and escorts and shit, and am all for trying to make it as meaningful as possible with someone truly special
it'll never work, but the absurdity of sex is that we can still try to find meaning in spite of that

as hard as the internet has crusaded against anything remotely "edgy" over the past few years, i'm very confused as to why this manga has such a huge following
