A new retro game shop opened up, so I was able to pick up some more N64:
Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2 BattleTanx: Global Assault ECW Hardcore Revolution Madden Football 64 NBA In The Zone '98 NBA Live 2000 Triple Play 2000 WCW Backstage Assault
Nothing spectacular, but I do have every single Madden on the system now, so... There's that. They also had Resident Evil 2, Starcraft, and WWF No Mercy on display, but they were asking a bit too much for those, and I was already going way over budget. Had I bought No Mercy, I would have every single wrestling game for the system. Looking back, I kinda wish I had just bought it, but whatever. Maybe it'll still be there the next time I visit.

Also bought a whole bunch of 8 and 16-bit shovelware with nothing "good" to speak of, with the exception of Mega Man X, which I'm currently playing right now.
I officially own over half the official NES library at this point, which is pretty exciting, but I still have a ton of important gaps to fill.

When was "trap" ever supposed to be derogatory?
it was originally just a dumb star wars reference until it started being used to describe transwomen or crossdressers who were presumed to be actively attempting to deceive heterosexual men, when in reality, they're just minding their own business while dressing the way they please—they're not trying to "trap" anyone i'm sure there are men who go to public places dressed as women with the sole intent of tricking hetero guys into sleeping with them, and you would probably be justified in calling them traps, especially if that's how they identify themselves but the word does have transphobic history, and you could argue that its use tends to lump you into a group of people that the enlightened (or just humorless) folk among us would consider undesirable

They never put it on PlayStation, which was my console of choice around the height of this game's popularity.
Today, I don't have a machine that could run it (story of my life).

A couple N64 pick-ups: Flying Dragon and Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense. The latter is a sequel to Vigilante 8, which I don't own, and the former is a fighting game with RPG elements, which actually sounds very interesting.
2nd Offense happens to be more valuable than the first game anyway. It seems I have a knack for always finding the top dollar sequels of series that I haven't found the first installment of. Same deal with Turok and Castlevania.
Not Banjo-Tooie, though. One of these days...

even if my brain/hands could process melee, i don't even have a machine that i think could run it
otherwise i definitely would
Depends. What specs are your PC? I think to emulate Melee you only need a good CPU, and even then you can run it on lower resolution if it’s not up to the job.
don't know my specs but i can't run terraria lmao

Anybody play Melee? Slippi.gg has replaced standard Melee Netplay and the rollback netcode is actually pretty fun, even on wifi with a bad connection (previously it would look like a slide show). If anybody wants to try friendlies sometime hit me up

Not going to lie, Rust reminded me of Verbatim a bit, at least back when he was more volatile. I'm just going to assume that current Verbatim is the same one from old Bungie. He seems simmered down a bit.
who were you on bnet

What do you guys think about not thinking of the president as a king who will or even has the power to fix your problems
perfectly rational what they do have the power to do is fuck shit up, which is why it's still important to vote for someone who will do the least damage

We all know Joe Biden is ultimately going to win over Donald Trump
i would be careful of having this attitude, because it's this kind of overconfidence that only contributes yet more trump support from the reactionary fence-sitters who want to spite you all the polls said hillary was the favorite as well, and everyone was so smug and confident about it—and look what happened

naruto peaks at rock lee vs. gaara tbh, but shika vs. temari was also pretty dope
You seem to be the resident mass media consumer here. By any chance have you ever watched the first season of true detective? That shit seems like it'd be right up your alley.
so i've been told, but i've yet to actually watch it as much media as i do consume, TV shows probably represent the biggest lacuna in my wheelhouse given how many people have recommended this one to me, though, i guess i have no choice but to check it out

Extremely dumb. What's their justification this time?
"nobody used it and the ones who did sucked" i guess
They done this to annotations before with same justification too
well, part of it too was that annotations don't show up for videos on mobile devices, and the majority of people watch youtube videos on their phones now why they couldn't have just made them work instead, i have no idea

I remember finishing Cowboy Bebop and Trigun and then never getting back into anime.
was that because you didn't like them
If I didn't like them, I wouldn't have finished them.
right haha yeah that makes sense
Spoiler >has 150 finished shows that i've rated a 1/10 on MAL but why
i'm also just really weird I know the feeling.
anyway, i meant to ask why you never got back into it if you liked what you saw

IIRC wasn’t Dustin banned because he was shitting up the place years ago? I wasn’t around for that but that’s what I’ve heard.
i seem to recall him doing something specific to get himself perma'd, but maybe it really was just his nonstop obnoxiousness

threatening to kill someone is also illegal, and pre-deadbeat cheat used to take stuff like that pretty seriously too

it's more like 50, i exaggerated i normally drop shows i don't like after just one episode, but sometimes i just feel compelled to see it through, especially if it's a show that's considered significant in spite of its awfulness, like gurren lagann i'm also just really weird
