Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison
Picked up a few good ones today:

Banjo-Kazooie
Jet Force Gemini
Dr. Mario 64
Spider-Man
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M.
NBA Hangtime

Delighted about getting Banjo. Jet Force Gemini is apparently quite good, too.

102/296

Jet force Gemini is a fantastic game, you get around to playing it?

Went out for the first time in months today and picked up some cool stuff:

Final Fantasy IX (the only one I need now is IV)
Metal Gear Solid soundtrack on disc

N64 games
- Space Station Silicon Valley (been finna cop this for a minute)
- Rocket: Robot on Wheels (one of the more rare and valuable games for the system, I think)
- Scooby-Doo: Classic Creep Capers (one of the last games made for the system)
- LEGO Racers
- Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits: Volume 1 (Defender, Sinistar, Robotron: 2084, Joust, Spy Hunter, Root Beer Tapper)
- South Park: Chef's Luv Shack
- Nagano Winter Olympics '98
Brings my total to 134, or about 45% of the total library; I just need 14 more to own half.

NES games
- King's Quest V
- The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner
- Desert Commander
Brings my total to 328, or about 48% of the total library; I just need 11 more to own half.

SNES games
- Just cheap sportsball stuff; I'm not even close to completing this collection

Recent pick ups:

PS1:
-Spider-man
-Tonka Space Station
-Toy Story 2

N64:
-The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (CE)
-Pokemon Snap
-Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire

PS3:
-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle (reaquired)

Lately I've been trying to pick up small, fun games more than heavy hitters. Sometimes I forget that licensed stuff can actually be pretty good.

With! The box also says "collector's edition". I believe it's the least "collectory" ce I've ever owned.

It's on the backburner for now. I have a lot of shorter games I'm rotating through right now, trying to get some completions under my belt before I jump into something more taxing.

While I find the time limit mechanic to be a novel idea to incentivize players to action, it also frustrates me for those same reasons. It's not really a criticism or anything, it's just a personal barrier to truly getting into the gameplay loop for any longer period of time.

yeah, that's understandable—although the mechanic becomes significantly more manageable once you learn the inverted song of time, you still can't really afford to dick around too much, which can be stressful (exclusively eustress for me, though)

what else are you playing

Celeste, Ori and the Blind Forest, and I'm attempting to finish up the content in Pokemon Shield before the expansion comes out. Valorant is finally out now though so I've been putting a lot of hours into that recently.

Ended up grabbing a few more titles:

NES:
-Castlevania (seems like a good entry to speed running, only real tech is damage boosting)

-SNES
-F-Zero (I can play it on Switch, but it's a nice title to have in my physical collection)

N64:
-Jet Force Gemini

GBA
‐LTTP + 4 Swords Adventure (cib)

I'll be grabbing Eternal Darkness and a couple of Ogre Battle titles later today. I wish more of these were CIB, but I've decided that I should fill out the collection then upgrade later when I have the money to do so.

critical hits can be tricky, since i think you only have one frame to do it—but yeah, CV1 is extremely satisfying to blaze through once you learn how

Four Swords has been a bug up my ass for a while—it's the only canon zelda i haven't played, since there's no single player option for the GBA version

Oh don't get me wrong, it's going to take practice to build the muscle memory and consistently execute on 1f windows. There's just not a lot to remember, and the runs are pretty short. Just takes practice.

yeah, i feel like N64 carts in particular are only just now becoming cool to collect, or something, because none of them were that pricey a year ago

i'm glad to have gotten a pretty good headstart, at least, even if i don't have anything super valuable in my collection

kinda sad that the "dream" right now is getting some random fucking bowling game for less than $300

F-Zero was a $25ish game before April. It's now over $40. It's insane how much worse most N64 hits are. Super Mario 64 shouldn't be $50 cart only.

N64 pick-ups:

Blast Corps (finally)
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
Dark Rift
War Gods
Shadow Man
Razor Freestyle Scooter (the antepenultimate game released for the system)
Micro Machines 64 Turbo
WinBack: Covert Operations

They also had AeroGauge, Mickey's Speedway USA, Mike Piazza's Strike Zone, MRC: Multi-Racing Championship, Off Road Challenge, Ridge Racer 64, Rugrats: Scavenger Hunt, and Wheel of Fortune, but I had to pass these up for now, since I was going over-budget and didn't wanna starve today. Had I caved in, though, I'd officially have over 50% of the N64 library.

If I get Mickey's Speedway USA next time around, the only Rare game that I'll be missing for the system is Banjo-Tooie.

I also got Devil May Cry 3 for like $5, so I own the PS2 trilogy now. Not sure when I'll actually play them, but at least I have the ability to.

Forgot to update earlier, but I did end up picking up all these the other day, meaning that I'm now officially in possession of over half the N64 library. Pretty cool. Conker's Bad Fur Day is the most valuable cartridge in my collection, going for about $90 loose. I'm still looking out for Banjo-Tooie, Castlevania (not Legacy of Darkness, which is ironically the rarer game), and the first Turok. Mischief Makers, Harvest Moon 64, Pro Skater 3, and the Snowboard Kids games would be nice to pick up as well, but besides that, I don't think I have very much else to collect as far as "must-haves" go.

Jono tells me No Mercy is the best wrestling game for the system, which is funny, because it's probably the only one I haven't found yet. What a bitch.

Currently, of the games I still need to find, only thirty of them go for $30+ loose. Those games are listed below:
Quote
ClayFighter: Sculptor's Cut                 $535.53
Super Bowling                               $350.44
Stunt Racer                                 $247.32
Worms Armageddon                            $190.52
Bomberman 64: Second Attack                 $186.05

Goemon's Great Adventure                    $ 86.25
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine      $ 72.51
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon              $ 67.50
Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber    $ 67.33
Snowboard Kids 2                            $ 56.64
Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals        $ 53.93
Daikatana                                   $ 51.98
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3                    $ 51.47
Duck Dodgers                                $ 50.00
NFL Blitz Special Edition                   $ 49.94
Harvest Moon 64                             $ 49.39
Carmageddon                                 $ 47.88
PGA European Tour                           $ 46.02
Snowboard Kids                              $ 42.85
Earthworm Jim 3D                            $ 42.44
Starshot: Space Circus Fever                $ 39.97
Hydro Thunder                               $ 39.00
Banjo-Tooie                                 $ 38.91
Road Rash                                   $ 34.03
Chameleon Twist 2                           $ 34.00
Mortal Kombat Trilogy                       $ 32.64
Cruis'n Exotica                             $ 32.24
Resident Evil 2                             $ 31.72
Mischief Makers                             $ 31.24
WWF No Mercy                                $ 30.75

I think I'll survive if I never own anything in the top 5 here.

If you have any of these in your collection, go get yourself a pretty penny with it (or give them to me lmao).

yeah, the end goal of this is actually to play/beat every single one so i can make a big-ass youtube video where i rank them all

i've always held that the N64 is the worst nintendo machine as far as games go, so this would be a fun way to test that theory, and it would give me an excuse to praise majora's mask to the high heavens

A couple N64 pick-ups: Flying Dragon and Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense. The latter is a sequel to Vigilante 8, which I don't own, and the former is a fighting game with RPG elements, which actually sounds very interesting.

2nd Offense happens to be more valuable than the first game anyway. It seems I have a knack for always finding the top dollar sequels of series that I haven't found the first installment of. Same deal with Turok and Castlevania.

Not Banjo-Tooie, though. One of these days...

A new retro game shop opened up, so I was able to pick up some more N64:

Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2
BattleTanx: Global Assault
ECW Hardcore Revolution
Madden Football 64
NBA In The Zone '98
NBA Live 2000
Triple Play 2000
WCW Backstage Assault

Nothing spectacular, but I do have every single Madden on the system now, so... There's that. They also had Resident Evil 2, Starcraft, and WWF No Mercy on display, but they were asking a bit too much for those, and I was already going way over budget. Had I bought No Mercy, I would have every single wrestling game for the system. Looking back, I kinda wish I had just bought it, but whatever. Maybe it'll still be there the next time I visit.

161/297 (54%)

Also bought a whole bunch of 8 and 16-bit shovelware with nothing "good" to speak of, with the exception of Mega Man X, which I'm currently playing right now.

I officially own over half the official NES library at this point, which is pretty exciting, but I still have a ton of important gaps to fill.

WWF No Mercy is regarded as the best wrestling game ever made because of how fun it is, the customization, and all the different dynamic storyline arcs. The game came out in 2000 when the WWE was on top of the world and has the best roster of wrestlers too. There's mods for the game that people make that updates the roster with modern wrestlers too and tons of youtubers always stream it to see what kind of storylines they get into. Such a good game and I wish my copy still worked.

And yeah, Starcraft 64 is one of the rarest N64 games and I've wanted to have it for my collection just to have it but I can never find it and if I look online prices for it are ridiculous. The PC version ultimately is the better version of the game but the N64 port has 2-player splitscreen versus/co-op and unique missions not found on the PC version. It also comes with the Brood War expansion as well.
