there are productive ways to entertain yourself, and unproductive ways to entertain yourself

playing video games, watching film, reading, hanging out with friends, posting on the internet
these all have some level of productivity in the sense that you're gathering information in some way
(unless you're just dicking around/not paying attention/not retaining anything, of course)

bashing your head against a wall, oversleeping, masturbating, smoking pot, and drinking alcohol
these are all unproductive ways of entertaining yourself--you're not learning shit, you're not building shit
(you can do "productive" things while drunk or high, sure, but your faculties will be reduced, so it'll be harder)
