Sniper Elite 2? Nice. That might get back on my Xbox for a little while.

Obviously the situation is very different, but history shows that when governments outright ban or impose harsh regulations on certain products, a black market for those products is created.
What you're saying is correct, but not really applicable here. The problem is that the article is specifically talking about military grade weaponry such as fully automatic (assault) rifles and grenade launchers. Even in countries with very lax gun control laws such as the US, these kinds of weapons aren't something your everyday civilian will get their hands on due to procedural requirements and the high price of these things. Your anology would be more correct if this was about the restriction of pistols and rifles, not military grade launchers and the likes.

Of course, it's inevitable that if you ban something, a black market is going to be created. But that in itself is no argument against prohibition of certain things, as completely legalizing the ownership and public carry of rocket launchers and machine guns would only make this situation worse.

Haven't seen it yet, it really didn't look good.

How come?
It seems like a comedy that isn't funny, which kind of defeats the point.

Yikes.
Lol, no worries. Just not really my thing. I saw the trailers and didn't think it was very funny, so I haven't gotten around watching the movie yet. I probably will some time though.

I don't see how this has anything to do with gun control.
You really don't see how an issue to do with the flow and use of firearms is a gun control issue?
I suppose that depends on how you interpret gun control. If you do so broadly, as in any legislation regarding guns, this obviously falls under it. But if you interpret this in the more narrow and common colloquial meaning of the word, as in the general public's legal access to firearms, it is quite different from gun trafficking.
So we're just redefining gun control as only aspects of the laws that actually affect law-abiding citizens?
Not at all. I was just making a more specific distinction between the legal access to gun control and gun trafficking to point out that parts of the article seem really out of place by talking about gun control in that narrow sense.

9939

It doesn't seem reasonable to separate the two in the first place.

If poor control over trafficking leads to the public accessing guns they shouldn't, how can any reasonable definition claim that's not a gun control issue? I understand you might need to technically separate them, and have specific laws for each issue, but fundamentally it comes down to what sort of weaponry people can access.
That is true, but it does not seem to be what the article is getting at. Parts like "In other words, gun control appears to have created a false sense of security for the European people" and "This is what Donald Trump warned about when he reacted to the Charlie Hebdo attack by saying, “When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns" seem to be implying that this is an issue with Europe's generally restrictive access that the general public has to firearms, which this clearly isn't about, as loosening gun control measures would not do anything to stop these black markets and would still result in a clear imbalance between average civilians with guns and criminals having illegal access to military grade weaponry.

You do have a point though, as this would technically fall under the broad notion of gun control. I was responding to how parts of the article seemed to be implying that this had something to do with legal access to guns.

Yes, although it can be limited with certain restrictions.

I don't see how this has anything to do with gun control. This is an issue of gun traficking and black market trading, not one of public gun control.

Like how did you keep up your endurance? Was it the stress of academic performance and caffeine stimulants?
Willpower and necessity, I don't use any stimulants or excessive amounts of coffee. Besides, this is my 5th year at university. You get used to it.

This is fine, as long as it remains clearly marked with warnings and stays spoilered. Our NSFW policy is pretty simple.

Is it illegal or loli? Never post it. Ever.
Is it explicit/porn/shock/gore? Don't post it anywhere outside of Anarchy.
Is it borderline but something that you would not want to be seen with at work, in class or anywhere else in public? Spoiler it and mark it with clear warnings so that no one stumbles upon it accidentally.

I use my left when cutting but switch to my right to eat

so
I don't understand what you're describing.
He's one of those people who hold a knife with the same hand they eat with.
He cuts everything up first and then eats it?
Yes. He's one of those plebs.
So the stories were true after all.
Unfortunately so.
My grandparents used to tell me to have my fork in the left hand and keep it that way, because "only the uncivilized and Americans eat like that". Obvious prejudice aside, it turns out they weren't completely wrong. >_>
