Apparently he also did it against Microsoft too and MS resolved it in like 30 minutes with only minor service issues that only ended up affecting a small portion of the XBL community.

What legal costs? Doesn't the law enforcement union handle legal costs? As far as I know, they handle basics. Seeing how a police officer can be tried on five different forums at the same time. I'm not sure to what extent the union covers police officers in all of those instances, but it seems likely that if you'd get your own, renowned and highly expensive, defense atorney, not everything will be paid for. I don't really see how money helps those things, but ok.
The actions of this single man started massive riots. He is hated by thousands of people, many of which probably wouldn't mind beating the shit out of him or even going further than that. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, he and his family will be shunned. They're likely going to have to move, find new jobs and throw their entire lives around. I'm pretty sure that if you and I were in that situation, a couple hundred thousand dollars, even just as a sign of support, would definitely help. That all being said, I don't support this whole money donation thing. Just explaining why some are.

There used to be a blind girl at my school. Her laptop had this plug-in extension at the bottom that turned the text on the screen into braille. Pretty nifty to see actually.

It's my first year, so for now nothing. Although I'm planning on being a neuroscientist, and if that doesn't work out I'll head towards an engineering major. I'm also considering maybe joining the armed forces in order to help pay for graduate school, but I really have to talk to people about it first.
You're going to college to study nothing? Education in the US really is quite different.

Of course they don't. Difference is that being soldier doesn't put you in the spotlight 24/7, not to mention that joining the military isn't exactly something that demands a lot of qualitfications. Most politicians are pretty highly educated, at least over here.

It's a biased old image, I don't really care for the hoards of obscure indie titles for all the platforms. They aren't system sellers. If I wanted to go in dept I would've edited this image and took off all those pointless indie titles.
Exclusives go both ways yeah, doesn't mean I like any of those games.

Xbox is losing exclusives now though; Titanfall was timed, then Ryse and Deadrising are coming to PC aswell.
Obvious problem here is that the list both completely neglects console exclusive indie / arcade games, yet goes out of its way to list heaps of unknown and rather poor PC indie titles that very little people care about. And in regards to your final remark, it also goes the other way around. Games that used to be PC exclusives and are listed as such in your post like Warframe and DayZ are coming to console too. A little less bias would help everyone in this gaming platform war.

I never said they get paid minimum wage, just something around what they pay generic military personnel.
I never said anything about minimum wage either. Just letting you know that many high paying jobs are those that come with great responsibilities and pressure. A politician is a public figure with a significant task. They're under constant watch and have to govern a country while reconciling conflicting interests and ideals. It's not an easy job, especially when taking into account that no matter what they say or do, there will always be thousands of people that will disagree with them and slander them because of it. You're not just signing up to do a service to your country, you're signing up for a job that will have you hated by thousands no matter what you do. A job that makes you work harder than most and that constantly puts you in the spotlight where almost every move you make or thing you say is watched, and where any misstep could very well mean the end of your entire carreer. No matter how you look at it, it's not an easy job. And although the exuberant wages some politicians make are excessive, I do believe they should be paid accordingly.

In that case, you came into office knowing what you were getting yourself into. You are doing a service to your country. As a perk while in office, provide free housing maybe. That's it.
Knowing what you're getting yourself into really isn't a valid argument. A high risk brain surgeon knew just the same that his job would bring pressure, hard work and great responsibilities. Does simply knowing that and "doing the people/country a service" mean they don't have a right to a higher pay than a janitor?
