Well after the experience you're currently having one playthrough should suffice, right?

No. I'll still have to play Demon's Souls, Dark Souls II, Bloodborne, and whatever else there is first.

S'yeah, that's gonna be awhile. I don't plan on making threads for any of those games--I'll play them on my own time. Maybe.

Okay, so here's the deal.

I started playing again a couple weeks ago, and I recorded a lot of stuff, but what happened was that I just didn't feel like I progressed far enough to post another update. And since I've been keeping you guys waiting for awhile, I wanted this next update to be huge, right? So I decided to just play more.

Well, what ended up happening was this: I kept playing, and I kept playing, and I kept playing, until eventually, just a couple days ago, I, uh... ended up accidentally beating the whole game.

...Yeeeah. Whoops!

Sooo, here's what's gonna happen: Over the next few days, I'm just gonna write the review, straight-up. And that's pretty much it. This thread is basically over. I don't really see a point in unloading all of my unfettered thoughts on the game when I could just be writing the review, you know what I mean? So yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. Sorry to disappoint.

Please, don't ask me anything about anything in this thread. Just because I'm done with the game doesn't mean I'm willing to talk about it right now--please just wait until the review is posted. Rest assured, all questions will be answered in the review itself. As always, I like to be thorough and balanced when I review games, and the same will apply to Dark Souls, so you won't have to worry about that.

Actually, I'm requesting a lock on this thread. It really doesn't serve a purpose anymore--I'm done with the game, so... yeah.

For those of you who stuck with me and enjoyed the playthrough, thank you very much. This has been a fun ride. I know I've been holding you guys over for awhile, but hopefully the review will generate some good discussion on the game.

All right, I think that's it. Mods can lock now.

How do you mean? And you might want to spoiler what you say in case Verb lied about beating the game for his ruse.

Spoiler
The Gargoyles were probably the easiest boss in DS2 for me (although Nashandra comes close). I didnt even die to them, and I fucking suck at the game...I died to bloody Jabba the Hutt for christ sake

How do I get the Moonlight greatsword from Seath? I got him to down to almost dead by only damaging his rear tail, but it didn't break off. Do I have to be hitting the very tip or something?

You have to be hitting the end of the middle tail. Seath has three tails, so make sure you're targeting the middle one. The easiest way to accomplish this is at the very start of the fight. Enter the boss arena and just run right past him to the crystal that needs to be destroyed before you can damage him. Wait there until Seath starts an attack of his own. As soon as he does, run for his back. His own attack will break the crystal and he'll temporarily be stunned because of it. If you high enough DPS output (I think the tail needs like 500 damage to come off) and attack the tip of the correct tail, you should be able to get it right there at the very start of the fight.
Spoiler
Okay that sounds a lot better than running around all his wriggling haha, thanks.

oh I'm only like level 80 something I think haha, that's well out of the summoning range isn't it. At least as far as I know, I'm not as knowledgeable on dark souls 1, only finished it just in time for 2

So, a couple people had a few questions about my "Dark Souls" review that I posted on April Fool's. Flee in particular made a comment towards the end of the thread, where he was wondering about the true extent of my joke. Was it just the review, or did the joke begin when I asked him to lock the thread? Did I actually beat Dark Souls?

I probably should've said it a week ago, but yeah... Me beating Dark Souls was indeed part of the joke.

My original intention was to immediately post an update afterwards. Like, the day after I posted the review. And then I'd start posting regular updates from that point forward. But then I remembered: Oops. I'm busier than ever right now with college. Finals are coming up, and I can't really afford to waste too much time with these kind of threads.

So in a way, my dumb joke that I did for shits and giggles kinda backfired on me. When I had this thread locked, initially, I expected a lot of disbelief. I thought beating Dark Souls in a matter of a couple weeks would sound like bullshit to everybody, and I expected a couple people to raise their eyebrows. But no one really did.

So, since a lot of you actually thought I beat the game, I knew eventually that revealing it was all just a joke might have been a little... disappointing to hear? Maybe? It put me in an awkward position. I just wanted to have a good laugh with that fake review, but it required me to essentially lie about my progress to do it, and in retrospect, I feel kinda lame for doing that. So that's pretty much why it's taken me awhile to post this. I felt like a jerk, but I realized that the longer I wait, the harder it's gonna be to spill it, so here I am.

If you need to know, the last time I touched Dark Souls was at the beginning of March.

For those of you who might still be interested in following my adventures, I guess this is actually good news for you--because I still plan on continuing this thread. I'm beating this game no matter what. I have an update burning a hole in my pocket right now that I'll be posting tomorrow. It's from about a month ago--the very last time I played, so I'd like to just look it over a bit before I post it.

It's nothing too eventful. I was grinding souls for the two smithboxes, when I happened across a mysterious new locale on the way. A bizarre oddity occurred, as well, and I captured it with the elgato. I'll try to post that.

After that, updates shall resume... Uhhh, whenever I'm ready. I know better not to give myself deadlines anymore.
Sooo, stay tuned, and such.

TL;DR
Remember when I said I beat Dark Souls?

Yeahhh, that was part of my April Fool's joke. I kept it quiet for so long mainly because I felt guilty, and because I realized I still wasn't going to be able to post regular updates for awhile. I do have an update ready for tomorrow, but don't expect frequent updates at least until I'm done with finals.

Thanks for sticking around, and sorry for yanking your chain a little harder than I intended.

Fuck, I knew it but I didn't want to say anything because it seemed really disrespectful to call you out, and I'd feel like an ass if you had miraculously beaten the remaining 95% of the game in one glorious weekend.

Well played.

Alright I'll go get that then, don't have it on this character, haven't been in the painting yet
