This game is NOT Halo Wars. It feels like a completely different game. This game ffels like Microsoft's version to ripoff other RTSs and slap a Halo skin onto it.
1) Generator income/Base upgrades replacing Reactors. This feels clunky and inconvenient. Not to mention time consuming. Halo Wars does not need another resource. Do not turn this game into another Starcraft ripoff, please allow it to keep its unique feel.
2) Vehicles and Air units only have one upgrade. I could be wrong since the user interface is slightly overbearing, but I don't see power turrets/chaff pods or their equivalent tier upgrades. Are they gone? If so, why? What kind of pacing are you trying to introduce, and why are you removing upgrades from that equation?
3) Control changes. OK, this one is simply because of how much time I've spent on the original Halo Wars. I'm having a difficult time adjusting to the bumper and d-pad changes, when there were other buttons that were never used. Why change already allocated buttons?
4) The beta itself. What the fuck is this? This game looks, feels, and plays like a game in it's pre-alpha stage. Did Microsoft rush this out for E3 and call it a "beta" because it sounds nicer? Keep in min,d we're getting another Beta this fall for the game.
Also, using a gamemode where no one can actually build units and test them for your introduction to the game? These are the people that will be in charge of managing the game after release? Christ, you might as well have had this game developed in-house by 343i.

For any of you fags that care.
Now everyone who sold the game due to lack of content can come back since custom games will actually be viable now. Because, that's definitely gonna happen, right?
How do they honestly expect this game to last by giving it so little to work with? Despite whether you like the game or not, Reach is still the most customizable Halo game to date, and because of which it still retains around 20k players daily almost 6 years after launch. Can't say the same for Halo 4 and definately not for 5 if things continue as they are. Hell, you can't even say that for Halo 2 or 3, as they dropped below 10k roughly 4 years after they launched.
If you're so sad and feel like killing yourself, then kill yourself. It doesn't "get better", you just find different ways to cope with the situation. If you feel like you can't go on, then kill yourself. You're just torturing yourself in the end for other people's pleasure.
Unless you have religious beliefs, there aren't any downsides to it. Maybe you'll have family that misses you, but family dies eventually. You could be hit by a car tomorrow and they'd have to get over it. No different than if you killed yourself. It's not like your life even matters in the grand scheme of things. Outside close family and possibly friends, who would really care? Family wouldn't even care after a certain number of years. Everyone will move on.
Plus who knows, maybe there is something after death? None of us really know for sure. It'd be an exploration of the unknown. The only reason why people fight against it is because death is unknown. People fear it because of that. If we knew for certainty that you'd live on a cotton-candy island after death, people wouldn't be so adamant about stopping you from killing yourself. It's selfish on their part.
Just don't make your problems other people's. If you want to get better, that's fine, but don't seek attention for it. If you're on the fence of killing yourself, go for it. What do you have to lose anyway? Or don't. It's your body and your life. No one can tell you what is right for you in this situation.

It's been 2 weeks now, so the dust has settled a little bit to form a reasonable opinion. What are your guys' thoughts on the film?
For me, the film is one of the worst Star Wars films to date. If I were to rank the films, it'd be:
1) Revenge of the Sith
2) Return of the Jedi
3) The Empire Strikes Back
4) A New Hope
5) The Phantom Menace
6) Attack of the Clones
7) The Force Awakens
After watching the film, I was really disappointed. I went into the movie theater with no expectations or preconceived thoughts on the film, but it was still a let down. It was a surprise, especially with how much praise the film had been receiving. I'll break down each point individually in a spoiler.
My first major gripe is the story. From the start, there is a droid containing vital information for the Rebellion, and it's separated from it's master on a desert planet. The droid is attack by local scavengers, and then rescued eventually saved by a young individual living in relative isolation, who is later found to be strong in the Force. Meanwhile, the droid's master is being interrogated for information. They are eventually rescued by someone dressed in a stormtrooper outfit. The Empire in search of the droid land on the desert planet and destroy the home of our hero. The droid and main hero manage to escape on the Millenium Falcon, and gain the help of Han Solo and Chewbacca. The main villain is a mask wearing and powerful warrior using a voice filter. This villain eventually kills the main hero's mentor and father figure. The Empire has a massive super weapon and demonstrate it's power by killing planets. To destroy this weapon, the Rebellion sends in a small team of X-Wings. The super weapon is then destroyed by a great pilot by flying down through a trench and hitting the super weapon's weak point.
Which Star Wars film did I just describe? Episode VII is a "bigger than life" version of Episode IV. Nothing original here folks.
It's everything we've seen, but "bigger".
Simply taking things from the Original Trilogy and making them bigger and more "badass" looking doesn't make them good. They should be going for emotional impact instead of just increasing the scale of everything.

There's a snow planet, but it's not Hoth. There's a desert planet, but it's not Tatooine. There's a ruin planet with trees, but it's not Yavin IV. There's a Death Star, it's not really the Death Star.
The story feels rushed:
A major issue with the plot, is even though it is a familiar formula taken from A New Hope, it doesn't work nearly as well due to the terrible world building and questions left hanging over the film. Nothing is explained in this film, no context is given to the Republic, Resistance, or the First Order. It's like a TV show pilot, to get you to watch the rest of the season, which is not what a film should be.

- How do Rey and Finn know how to fight with a lightsaber?
- What happens in Rey's vision?

- Why does R2-D2 just suddenly wake up?
- How did Kylo get Vader's mask?
- Did Maz live?
- Did Hux live?
- Did Kylo live?
- Did Phasma live?
The backdrop to the plot in A New Hope is the simple tale of the underdog, we don't need much context. There was nothing before it to leave us with many questions, and those that we did have were answered in the film. However, The Force Awakens continues after Episode VI, which tied up the story and left no real loose ends.
It is confusing and unclear as to what the current political situation is. In a Star Wars film, this is an issue. The film sorely needs some exposition. Not a 20 minute political talk like in Attack of the Clones and The Phantom Menace, but just something with a little substance. Where were the round table meetings to discuss the political situation? Where's the calmer moments to help learn about these new characters? Why should we care about those planets being destroyed or the Republic when we don't even know what they are?
The film suffers from some kind of allergy to politics. Like it was decided in some board room, "People hate the Prequels, right? And the Prequels of politics, right? Well let's not mention any of that. and also, let's destroy the Republic and Senate with Starkiller Base, so there's no chance of any Senate or politics in the future movies."
The Force Awakens is so reliant on coincidences and convenience that it borders on comical.
- Rey finding BB-8.
- Finn and Poe crash land near town to find BB-8.
- Finding the Falcon working.
- Han and Chewie being near Jakku at the right moment.
- Rey's miraculous use of the Force and having the knowledge to overcome ALL problems at just the right moments.
- Maz just so happens to have Anakin's lightsaber.
- Poe returning out of nowhere, with no plausible explanation as to why he would just abandon his mission on Jakku.
- Having the plans to Starkiller base, even though they had no idea of its existence moments ago.
- Finn surviving a lightsaber strike that would kill anyone else
- Ground breaking the fight between Rey and Kylo.
Yes, the Force can guide people, but this just screams lazy and convenient writing.
The Prequels are better:
This film feels like a slightly surreal and expensive fan film, more than a numbered entry into the Star Wars saga. This film should be forging it's own story, and not keep winking at the audience about the old ones, while simultaneously ripping off their story lines. Episode VII totally fails as a Star Wars story. The Prequels, while not great films, do feel part of the Star Wars saga. Their stories are creative and original. The Prequels fail to some not due to the story, but do to the filmmaking. Each Prequel tried something new, and expand the universe beyond the limitations of the originals.
The transition from III to IV makes sense. It adds to the saga. You don't go from III to IV (or any of the other films for that matter) thinking "Huh?! What just happened? Why are we here now?". The transition from VI to VII however is jarring, and doesn't make anysense when put into the context of the rest of the films.
Episode VII should be the start of a new trilogy that stands on it's own feet. Instead we have been given some kind of strange homage filled remake of Episode IV. Imagine if someone 30 years from now watches the films without any knowledge of the long rate (30 years or so) between VI and VII.
Destroys pre-established characters:
The Force Awakens betrays the legacy of the Original Trilogy. Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie are best friends who could take on the whole world together. There was genuine love and friendship for each other. The Force Awakens not only ruins the ending established fro them in Episode VI, but also changes their characters for the worst.
After Han dies, Chewies screams and shoots Kylo, and Leia looks sad... and that's it. It's a major moment glossed over. Then when the go back to the Resistance base, Chewie just strolls past Leia as she goes to hug Rey (A character she hasn't even met yet!). The Chewie and Leia in the OT would not act like that. Leia wouldn't have even let Han go alone in the first place.
Did you think Han and Leia would have lived happily together? No, their son is a murderer and they left each other. Did you think Luke would never give up on his friends or the galaxy? Well he ran away and became a hermit, leading to billions of deaths. The old Luke would have never left his friends and leave them to their fate. It just screams inconsistent and convenient.
I'm not saying these character can't have bad things happen to them, but make it believable.
***TL;DR: The Force Awakens is a poorly written "by-the-book" film, made to appease Prequel haters and lovers of the Original Trilogy. Abrams plays it safe. So safe that he has made a lifeless, uncreative, and ultimately disappointing Star Wars story. The film may shape up better as the rest of the trilogy is made, but as a standalone film, I rank it as the worst Star Wars film to date. ***

To me, the best idea is to make sort of a Lego Star Wars Hub game. Kind of like the Lego Star Wars version of the Master Chief Collection, only you know, it doesn't launch broken. It would launch with Episodes I-III, IV-VI, and VII for $60. Everything redone in the new engine with voice acting and up to date graphics. The game itself would be around the same level of complexity as Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.
There would be a DLC pack every 2 months or so until it catches up with the current canon material. This DLC would cover things like The Clone Wars, Rebels, new films, and maybe even some silly stuff like the Holiday special or something. A TV show season expansion would cost $10. A film expansion would be $20. With a new film releasing each year and Rebels having around 4 more seasons to go, it would make a decent amount of money. They could sell an expansion pass for $60-$100, which would be a fair price as of right now all DLC would cost around $220.
Perhaps every year they release a new version of the game in retail stores with all the current DLC for $60, so the game never drops in price technically. This would make Disney and Lego millions.
It's not like it requires much work. Lego games rarely go through big changes (be it graphically or gameplay), so the gameplay need not to change for its lifespan. Fully fledged lego games also take around a year to make, while these DLC packs would just be small portions. Most art would be reused throughout The Clone Wars and Rebels DLC, so they would only need to create something new every once in a while. Minimal effort for maximum profit.
And lastly online support. Bugs the shit out of me that most lego games these days don't support online co-op, even though they did back in in 2007-08.

So the Alpha 2.0 update is supposed to go live next week. It will allow for multi crew ships and shit. I like how they are able to actually have multiple people in 1 ship walking around when dogfighting and shit. Not many games can do that.

***This is a long rant and story about how one of the greatest games ever produced turned into a pile of rotten mush due to poor development and mismanagement of funding***
Never heard of it? I'd be surprised if you did. Face of Mankind only got around up to 300 players max during it's golden times. Though, this was a good thing, which I'll explain in a little bit. The game was mostly active from 2006-2012.
I'll be dividing this post with spoilers, as so you guys don't have to scroll through a wall of text just to see replies and such.
What is Face of Mankind?:
Face of Mankind was a MMORPG set around 300-400 years in the future. It was a low budget and low profile MMO trying to cash in on the World of Warcraft craze that was going on at the time. Graphically, it resembled near the era of the Playstation 2. The game had 8 factions, ranging from military, to police, to mercenaries, to space hippies. The game's entire economy and in game government was ran by the players. The developers only stepped in for minimal fixes, such as weapon balancing and such. At least, until the big change happened. We'll get to that later though.
Due to being so low profile and not well advertised, the game only received an extremely small following of 200-300 players. Even though they had a such low population by MMO standards, the developers still stuck by their game and so did the community. Because the game had such a small community, it was easy to organize and work together. The 8 factions eventually formed a unitary agreement, and in turn helped each other out. Certain factions would agree to treaties to make certain items. Wars would break out over said treaties if broken.

Overall, it was the small community that allowed this game to "thrive" and become something worth of note. I fully believe that if this game had even above 1,000 players, the government systems we had in place would come falling down and cause total anarchy in the game.
Why was the game good?:
Even though the game only had around 100 people playing at peak times in it's last couple years, it is a very unique genre of game. What other game can you have fully functional working government, army, and police force 100% created and controlled by the players? A game where you're forced to work together with others, instead of running and gunning. And if you do end up running and gunning, you get hunted down by police forces, which then in turn makes you side with others who run and gun. Then it's suddenly a 3 faction war against the establish police and military forces.
Or where you can mine resources and create necessity items like health packs. And then eventually give your faction a monopoly on the health pack market and then make a treaty with another faction to get discounted prices, to then get discounts on their exports. Which then in turn sparks a war between the other faction that wanted the same deal.
It's just a type of game you can't really find anywhere else. That being said, it did have a lot of faults. The graphics are extremely dated. The combat system is unique, but entirely too skill based that the skill gap might as well be the size of the grand canyon. But, there's just something about it that keeps you coming back.
As a personal experience of mine, a couple of friends and I decided to be the "run and gun" group of the game for while. We all changed our names to have the last name "O'Brian". We would sync up with the police patrol schedule (we had an inside man), and commit mass murders. We would be fined out the ass, but never pay it. Eventually we entered on of the Union meetings (Basically the game's equivalent of the United Nations, but for the 8 factions) when security was lax. They'd confiscate weapons from the faction leaders so no deaths happen. So we broke in and slaughtered them all. We were basically the mob family of that game for a while, and it took them months to permanently kill all our characters and have us make new ones ( You get 10 lives in the form of clones, you can buy additional... but sometimes we just forgot).

So what happened to it?:
Oh, what didn't happen? It all started with The Fall of the Dominion. For context, the Dominion was the name of the government in Face of Mankind. But, let me explain a little bit what led up to the Fall of the Dominion. I'll put it in a spoiler though, incase you wanna skip over it.
So, the Police Department (LED) and the Military Forces (FDC) were at odds. The new head of the FDC didn't like all the power the LED had over the citizens. People could be arrested for carrying more than 5 hacking devices (essentially that game's equivalent to pot). Every other faction agreed the LED held too much power, but naturally the LED did not want to give up it's power. So what happened? You guess it, war.
The LED had declared war on every faction, including the FDC. Most factions didn't want war, so they stayed to their controlled planets and didn't touch LED worlds. The devs took note of this, and instead of letting everything play out they decided to intervene. This is not the type of game where devs should interfere with the politics of the game.
So, the devs combined the LED and FDC into one faction. Of course, they did not remove the leader, and instead kept the power hungry LED leader. So now the super LED faction is now waging war against the remaining factions. Before The Fall of the Dominion, the LED controlled all but two planets in Face of Mankind.

The developers launched a Kickstarter program called The Fall of the Dominion. This was to break up the power that the government had in the game over the other factions. Most players were for it. They were able to reach $60,000 with their Kickstarter campaign.
Unfortunately though, the developers had also completely dismantled all the other factions in the game, a detail the left out. Essentially destroying what all these players worked for the past six years. Basically killing the game at it's heat, with what little community it had in the first place.
They then have the audacity to call that update a finished product for the game. As far as the community knows, no money was spent on the game from the Kickstarter campaign. In fact, one of the developers had used part of the money to get himself a brand new car.
The game is dead now. The devs killed it. I logged on a round 6 months ago to find less than 15 people online. I wouldn't imagine there to have been a resurgence. Such a shame that poor development management destroyed such a unique experience of a game.
TL;DR: Unique game got shat on by shitty greedy developers.

This video sums it up pretty nicely.
While it is a shadow of it's predecessors, the gameplay shown in the leaked alpha looked solid. Plus, it is Star Wars. Who can resist killing some rebel scum? I kinda wished they'd just have called it a new IP. While it looks like a good game, the Battlefront name doesn't seem like it should be associated with it. At least, not in it's base state (who knows what the DLC will bring along).
