Level design is extremely different per game, and there is never a "perfect" design for any game. Just ones that do it right.
So now I look at you all, in levels, multiplayer maps, open worlds, etc. Do you think there is a game that got the design right for that particular type of game?
I personally believe Halo CE's Damnation map showed a great design for a competitive multiplayer map. It wasn't simply just "roam around and shoot people" or "hunker down and let them come" it was varied, complex and strategic.
Weapon spawns in the perfect place so that players have to work with eachother to grab the power weapons. Height advantages and lines of sight broken up perfectly to allow competitive players many different ways to tackle the opposition.
Of course, I wouldn't count Damnation as a perfect map for casual play, as it wasn't perfectly designed for that. I would look at a map like Last Resort or Relic in Halo for a more casual design.

Just wanted to give some attention to a fan game that I think is gonna turn out well. The development of Installation 01 has been going on for about 3 years. Beginning in 2013, first announced on B.net in 2014, and here they are today.
As a follower of the game, active member of their discord and overall fan. I'd like to recommend checking it out.
They also are always looking for new talent. If you have some skill in game development you can contact a lead on Discord with a portfolio ready and they can interview you.
This game, even if 3 years in, is still in pre-alpha. However they are trying for a closed alpha during the end of the month.

Hey all, I got pokemon heartgold and I got a randomizer and I am playing it...whew boy.
Basically, here are Nuzlocke Rules I am following:
1: Every Pokemon captured must be given a nickname.
2: You may only catch 1 pokemon per route, and 1 more per other means(fishing, surf, etc).
3: Any pokemon that faints is considered dead, and must be placed in the box or released.
And now I am adding on the randomizer:
All wild pokemon are randomized.
Starters are randomized.
So I have no clue what i'll get.
Current gym: #1
NOTE: I won't be detailing everything that happens as that is a pain in the ass, instead just important bits.

Kinda ironic it's a gif of a guy with no good posture but oh well.
I've had Scoliosis for about a year and a half now, and throughout this year I have been working out, and doing back excercises to fix it. Also fixing my posture elsewhere.
And today I saw fucking progress, so proud of myself.
What accomplishments are you proud of this year?
What do you think?
I kept seeing the dang Captain Morgan ad on youtube and finally decided to look into it.
This petition...with only 8,000...wants President Obama to call Congress to discuss the possibility of allowing an under 35 president.
The reasoning being that there are currently 75 million millennials in the US and many of them have helped innovate and create in many ways, but they cannot innovate in the highest seat of the USA.
What do you think? Under 35 President in 2020?

Solo. And possibly LASO if I think I can handle it.
Any tips I should know before I kill myself from this?

I just want to get rid of my horrible Xbox Live name(gamer x7 42) and change it to something more original and when I tried I completely forgot that it's $9.99 with 46 cents tax.

Instead of dicking around in some crazy gamemode. How about a night where we make a stupid machinima?
It could be on any Halo game, or different games, probably Halo though.
We could probably whip up some incredibly stupid plot and just have everyone be body actors in it.
Then someone can edit it, upload it here and wabam. Silly machinima made.
Anyone wanna try it?

That was the most confusing and interesting binge i've gone through.
I see why so many people like it though. I enjoyed it a lot.
So AMA me about it.
By the way currently watching through season 14.
And now I finally figured out who Florida is. Oh damn.
Finally figuring out shit in 14 and it's nice.

History is always fascinating subject, so I have wondered.
What would have happened if certain events in history didn't happen, or ended up differently?
It's a very interesting question, but you could never really know right? I'm still going to ask you anyway.
What do YOU think would have happened if these events in history went a little different?
What if Vladimir Lenin stayed in power of Russia, and Stalin was unable to influence him?
What if Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Hungary? Not in Bosnia?
What if Napoleon never went to Russia?
What if Adolf Hitler gained control of Germany, but kept his power and influence inside of Germany not invading any other country?

I honestly would buy the original pokémon games or Earthbound and play it on my Ipad. I'd love that.
TFW I haven't played an original pokémon game in years.....
This just popped up on my youtube feed, and it got me thinking.
What is Sep7agon's opinion of people doing stuff like this? It has happened to many developers, quite a few of them actually making some games you may know. Like Rimworld and Speedrunners.
Also, how do you feel about grey markets like G2A who allow this type of scamming?
IMO, these types of things need to be dealt with. Many good devs don't deserve this, the argument that "I don't want to give corporate scum money" retort really doesn't work here. As most corporate companies can deal with scams like this while small devs can be destroyed, just because some guy can skirt the rules. Stuff like this makes me afraid to put time into making a complete game and try and sell it because I can get screwed.
I am well aware that a lot of you use Pirate Bay, but Pirating is 10x better than the scamming of game keys. Pirating at least doesn't directly smack the devs in the face and fuck them in the ass.

"Long ago, in a world far different from ours. The evolution of mankind grew stagnant, and for centuries the only thing the world saw was the rise and fall of kingdoms, arrows flying and swords clashing.
Till one day a rupture in the sky tore through the world, opening to another realm, one of power and technology nobody thought possible. However, the creatures inside this realm didn't feel like sitting around, and walked out of the rupture. Attacking the entire world as a whole, and with no united power the monsters were unstoppable.
Finally, a group of kings and lords came together. Forming a new alliance to defend and defeat the monsters of the magical realm. Working together to close the rupture once and for all.
They succeeded, closing the monster's gate and creating a new government around the unity of the world. Even while they all saw the horrors of this realm, the power they saw from the rupture was still a tempting gain. No normal man could enter this realm though, but this new unified realm sought to find a way to reap the spoils of the magical world they glimpsed into.
One day they found their answer, in a young boy and girl. "
The game I am thinking of will only be known as Project Oracle for the time being, but that little tidbit up there is a small bite of the story I will be trying to create with this game.
It will be a linear, story focused game where you play a character who can enter a world where the greatest powers mankind has ever known rests. With the goal of gaining all the knowledge of the realm possible and returning to help bring mankind to further glory. It will have basic combat, puzzle solving and boss battles inspired from games like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and The Legend of Zelda. With a goal of telling the story of a young man venturing forth into the unknown.
Again, like I said. For a while this will be a side project that will help me learn a lot about game development and design. While still being simplistic enough for a small game designer to develop. How far I will go with this game I am unsure but we will see.
So, what do you all think? Would you play a game like this?
Now, let's say that in the future we found an alien race or had an alien race make contact with us. Now, what would you say they would look like and be like?
Now, I want you to put some things into account when making an idea.
1: What would the biology of the aliens be like? Would it be similar to humanity, drastically different or somewhere in between?
2: How diverse would this race of aliens be? Since we know in most representations of intelligent alien species they usually can be categorized into different types,(I:E The Sangheli of Halo having an honor bound militaristic society or the intellectual but not so socialable Salarians of Mass Effect.) Would they be categorized in such a way or would they be diverse?
3: How would they react to Humans? Would they be hostile? Cautious? Open to learning about us? What would you think?

I don't get it, they spent THIS much money on this huge risk to study the composition of a gas giant?
If Juno was instead starting to orbit say, Venus or Mars which are closer to us I can get that. But Jupiter?
