And I'm guessing you don't want to use an emulator because you didn't mention that in the OP. The first gen games are currently on sale on the 3DS store so may as well just get those. Not like the 3DS is heavy or anything.

I really am getting sick of hearing that.

I call the first Halo original.
I call COD4 original.
I call Dragon Age Origins and ME1 original.

The first gen is ORIGINAL.
That doesn't mean the new versions are bad. I have played everything up to Unova. The only reasons I haven't played gen 6+ is because I don't have a 3DS.
Please PLEASE stop assuming anyone who even mentions Gen 1 only as a Gen 1 purist.

Even though Mew has existed in the game's code since the beginning, its existence was largely kept under wraps--even by the developers of the games themselves--until around the time the first movie was released. So, for all intents and purposes, for the first year of the game's lifespan in the west, there kinda were only 150.

It's kinda like how they announced Shaymin and Arceus way late into Gen IV's lifespan. We thought there were only 491.
