Of course. Like I said, if it was the other way around, I'd want my friends to be happy over me being happy. I'd still feel like shit, but I'd do it.

You should never put your own happiness behind the happiness of others in things like this. It can lead to bad places that can be hard to escape from. Do what makes you happy, and try your best not to alienate too many others if you can. If not, well that's not your fault. That's why I stopped hanging out with loads of people that I used to, I was pretending to be somebody I wasn't. Time for Big Boss's mini blog-within blog, spoilered because nobody probably cares anyway Spoiler During my first two years at uni, I was trying my best to find myself, have a good time with friends and just generally fit in. I would go to parties and tag along whenever they went out and got pissed every weekend. Sure I guess it was a fun time, but whenever I was out I would just think that I would rather be somewhere else, doing something different. I tried to shake it off as lame thoughts and kept partying, but over time the feeling began to grow and grow. It would reach a point where I would just leave the club and go straight home without telling anyone, hours before they even got back.
During the summer holiday I barely did any of that at all. I came to realize that all that was just me trying my best to appeal to the uni crowd, to be cool and fit in. That wasn't me at all, I wasn't happy. So I decided to ditch all that and just do whatever I felt like and not give a shit what they thought about me. While they were drinking or clubbing I was just there in my dressing gown with a cup of tea, watching a movie or playing games and you know what? I couldn't be happier.
Everybody tells you to be yourself and that's because it's true. Don't be someone you aren't just to try and please others. Fuck people, do what makes you happy. If you don't then you'll reach a point in life where it's too late and you'll wish you realized sooner. Don't hide what you like, or you'll never find others with the same interests. I used to keep my gaming and cartoon interests hidden away because I thought people would see it as incredibly lame, but that led to me eventually finding the love of my life.

I want to agree with you, but try to put yourself in his shoes... I know what it's like to be stabbed in the back by your brother. My first love cheated on me with my best friend. It SUCKS. If I was in his position, and he asked me... I'd probably allow him to, but... I'd feel lousy about it and probably couldn't be around them.
If she's still not over him though, don't make your feelings too obvious yet until they start showing signs. That's what happened with me and my girlfriend, I just made sure that I was there for here and eventually she admitted her feelings, and I did too.
Yeah, that's what I'll be doing. You can ask TBlocks (he's sort of been my confidante the last couple of weeks), I feel weirdly okay with just being her friend until she's over him.

Feelings can change. She might still love him but if she realizes that she's happier with you then that's her choice and she'll come around. I think deep down you always feel something for your ex, but the more you fall in love with someone else, the deeper that older feeling goes. It's still there, but not as strong because you've found somebody else.
Just follow your heart, man. Sounds fucking cheesy but it's true. Love can make you do silly things but that's what happens. If you spend too much time overthinking and analyzing it then it'll be too late and they'll be gone, and you'll be kicking yourself for it.
