After being shot by Sniper Wolf, Snake immediately kneels down and calls Otacon.

Yeah just stay there, I'm sure it's really safe in that spot... genius.
Their vision is based on movement.

Then how dafuq does she shoot me while I'm lying still trying to aim at her.

Seriously fucking fuck fuck the sniper rifle aiming in MGS1. The moment you get shot you have to spend like 3 weeks trying to position your scope to where it just was.

I don't have any fancy Snake ID but my girlfriend did ask me to do things while dressed as Snake >.>

You should wear the "naked" uniform from MGS3 and relive the sexual healing at the end of the game with Eva

though my fantasy would be "operation intrude N6969" amirite

She even made innuendos about it, was gr8

She's trying to do a Quiet costume, only got the make up done so far, looks pretty gud

The guide has a character model of The Boss that looks like it would fit right in the game....

Scan it?

Spoiler
Also, they already found The Boss's character model in the game's files (same place they found Chapter 3's title card, "Peace".

The fact that the PS4/X1 versions have 7 more gigabytes than the PC version leads me to believe a third chapter is ready as disc-locked content for later... which I'm going to have to fork over money for. /:

I will tomorrow. It's probably just her model from the MGS3 3DS artwork but I dunno, it looks better

So when are you gonna go nuts

Probably around the time where Kojima pops into my bedroom and tells me that it was all an elaborate ruse, and that the real MGS5 has been in development since 1964, and will feature 9 years of cutscenes and a map the size of the solar system.

The way he reveals this to me is by using a modified version of morse code, where instead of little knocks or taps or beeps, it's a pattern of "did you rike it" over and over again until I understand what he's saying.
Then you wake up in a hospital bed and find out you are Kojima and the entire franchise was in your head during the 25 year coma.

I still don't see it.

I'm Big Boss. And you are too.

No, he's the two of us, together.

Where we are today, we built it. This story -- this legend -- it's ours. We can change the world, and with it, the future.

I am you, and you are me. Carry that with you, wherever you go. Thank you, my friend. From here on out...

you're Big Boss.

So when are you gonna go nuts

I wanted to make my name "Lord of Admirals" but that was taken, so I went with "Prehistoric Human" as my ID and "Prehistoric" as my username.

After that, I used "Kennedy" after my "girlfriend".

After that, I was "Big Boss" on this website, for obvious reasons. I then changed to "Snake" a few months later when I invited you (the real Big Boss) to our forum.

Then, I was a variation of Snake. From prefixes like "Punished", "Venom", "Naked", "Solid", "Liquid", and "Based". Because I felt like it, really.

Then I was "Prehisnake", to fuse my two names together.

I then switched back to "Snake".

And then I started calling myself Saladin because I wanted to change my name to Big Boss, but that was taken. Plus it was pretty cool.

Then Gatsby posted a bunch of spoilers in my thread so I became "Sadladin" to emphasise my mindset at the time.

After the game released, I realised I didn't like Big Boss all that much anymore, so I switched back to "Snake" (which can refer to Solid, Solidus, Liquid, Naked, and Venom, all at once).

And a few hours ago I switched my name to "Eliab" because he was the older brother of King David in the Bible. David is Solid Snake's real name, and my avatar is Liquid Snake.
Spoiler
Also, "Eli" is a short form of "Eliab", and Liquid's real name is Eli.

But suddenly, towards the end of the game, Big Boss contacts you on a new frequency and begins giving you bogus advice to try and sabotage your mission.
Real Big Boss's frequency: 120.85
Venom Snake's frequency: 120.13
This second Big Boss on the new frequency is Venom Snake trying to stall Solid Snake's mission.
Spoiler
Excellent observation. It's so fitting that it makes you wonder if Kojima planned this twist from the beginning.

Quote
Spoiler
It isn't clear, and it will never be clear, what Big Boss's grand plan was for Operation Intrude N313.

Spoiler
Training Solid Snake to fight the Patriots. If he can single-handedly take down the best soldier on the planet, "Big Boss" (who is really Venom. Venom Snake > Big Boss in fighting skill, given his greater muscle mass. The difference is minimal, but still worth noting.), he can take on the organisation Big Boss has been fighting his whole life, and potentially win.

Quote
Spoiler
The Outer Heaven uprising is intended to be a rebellion against the Patriots, but at some point it may have become obvious that it was going to fail.

Spoiler
Probably because Outer Heaven was simply a military stronghold, whereas Zanzibarland was meant to be a truly sovereign nation of soldiers. The key difference between Ahab and Ishmael, was their intentions.

Not trying to contest, just adding some commentary to it.

Quote
Spoiler
You can hear him [Solid Snake] fighting outside the room Venom is in.

Quote
Spoiler
Ehhh... I'm yet to be convinced of this. The beginning establishes that Outer Heaven has become an atmosphere of "war without end", so it's only natural to hear gunfire and such in the background in a place that is perpetually in battle.

It's a nice thought but there's little to no evidence of it. Especially considering MG1's reliance on stealth rather than combat.

Quote
Spoiler
I think the tape contains Venom Snake's final mission: to die for the Big Boss legend. If Venom gives his life and takes responsibility for the uprising, Big Boss will be able to remain undercover and unharmed, ultimately allowing Venom to complete his mission as a lightning rod for Big Boss. In the end, Venom gets the same mission that the US handed down to the Boss in MGS3: he is to die for his cause and will go down in history as a war criminal. No one will know who he was, no one will know what he sacrificed. His life, his face, his ideology, everything was to be taken by Big Boss and his legend. Big Boss does literally the same thing that the Philosophers/the US did to the Boss, the very thing he swore to stop so many years before.

Spoiler
Now that's an interesting perspective.

I think the fact that Ahab was unconsentually transformed into Big Boss's phantom, which in turn meant that he was forced to give up his past, his identity and potentially other sacred things like family and friends, and then asked to die for someone else's cause, even though he had been fighting so that soldiers could fight for their own ideologies, would be enough to break him.

Would've been great if that was expressed in the actual game. It would also help demonstrate just how far gone Big Boss (Ishmael) is from his former self; how evil he has truly become.

Spoiler
I saw it on FB and thought it would be good to post it. Certainly gives an interesting perspective on the whole thing. I imagine that at first, he was like 'Cool, I'm Big Boss!'

But afterwards it really started to sink into his mind and drive him a bit off the loopy end.

What about you?

Spoiler
So at the end of the game, you get a tape explaining that you are not Big Boss, but an exact duplicate created by Zero to protect the real Big Boss from his own organization. This scene is really really good, and I love Kiefer's mocap work when Venom Snake smirks and looks at himself in the mirror with this look of power.
But the last few seconds of this scene are extremely important! When he flips the tape over, there's a time jump to 1995. How do I know this? Be perceptive; in the reflection of the mirror, there is a Diamond Dogs emblem on the bathroom door.
However, when Venom flips the tape over, that emblem becomes an Outer Heaven logo, and outside you can hear gunfire and chaos. What's the other side of that tape labeled?
Operation N313 aka the operation Solid Snake goes on in Metal Gear 1.
...
It can be safely assumed that whatever is on that N313 tape, Venom doesn't like it. He reads the info and immediately destroys a mirror in rage; that does not sound to me like the reaction of a happy man in a healthy partnership. Given the info we have, it can be reasonably assumed that Big Boss and Venom communicate through those cassette tapes; it can also be reasonably assumed that towards the end of Metal Gear 1, Venom Snake becomes aware of the fact that Solid Snake is coming to kill him and tries to sabotage that operation. During the game, your CO is Big Boss. He's basically the Campbell of Metal Gear 1; he gives you hints and suggestions on what to do.
Now, what we see in MG1 is that the entire time, Big Boss is helpful in assisting Solid Snake in his mission to destroy Outer Heaven. We also know that Venom Snake contacts Solid and tries to stop the mission. If Big Boss didn't want Solid to kill Venom, he would have also worked to stop the mission, not assisted the whole time.
It isn't clear, and it will never be clear, what Big Boss's grand plan was for Operation Intrude N313.
As it stands in canon now, he expected Solid Snake to fail. Given the new information about Venom Snake, his motivations become even more nebulous. Killing Solid Snake is obviously in Big Boss's favor, but so would killing Venom Snake. Why? Venom Snake is one of the few individuals who knows of Big Boss's double and if he is capture alive would likely raise many uncomfortable questions for Big Boss in regards to his position within FOXHOUND.
The Outer Heaven uprising is intended to be a rebellion against the Patriots, but at some point it may have become obvious that it was going to fail. Venom Snake doesn't get the N313 tape until Snake has spent some time on his mission (you can hear him fighting outside the room Venom is in). At this point, it wouldn't be unreasonable for Big Boss to assume that the uprising was a failure, and that ultimately, the Patriots would destroy Outer Heaven. If Venom was captured, it is possible they could discover Big Boss's involvement in its founding.
So what about the damn MSX tape?
Venom gets angry and rejects this mission; he punches the mirror and contacts Solid to try and stop the inevitable. In the end, Venom does what the Boss doesn't: he rejects his mission and implicates Big Boss in the whole thing. He tells Solid that he is Big Boss, causing Solid and everyone else to think that Big Boss had double crossed them and was simultaneously the leader of Outer Heaven and the CO of FOXHOUND, thus blowing Big Boss's cover. Solid kills Venom Snake, and Big Boss goes into hiding to build Zanzibar Land. And well, the rest is history.

Posted here to keep it safe for someone to read it.

Thank you, based Anon
