also I just came back from a lgbt camp in maine and that was fun - always happy to get back home though, with my shows and technology

In terms of raw bending power, Azula definitely has the edge.  Kuvira has never struck me as someone with a ton of natual ability.  Instead she got as good as she is entirely through hard work and disciplined training.  Azula was born with a ridiculous amount of talent, so she hasn't had to work as hard to achieve success.

In terms of fighting style though, it's a much closer call.  As I stated on the Unalaq v. Kuvira thread, I think Kuvira applies an airbender's mentality to earth/metalbending.  She dodges and evades and then counters with a strike designed to off-balance her opponent.  She generally aims for her opponent's limbs rather than their center of mass.  Her style is designed to chip away gradually until her opponent is too worn down to fight back.  Azula is more direct and willing to go for the kill right off the bat.  She's also probably the smartest fighter in the original series--she uses the environment to her advantage, and she knows exactly where and when to apply pressure to win.

The question has been raised whether Kuvira could use her metalbending to make a lightning rod to block Azula's lightning attacks.  It's certainly possible, but even if it succeeds, it won't put Azula out of the fight.  She's smart enough to change tactics if she sees it happen once.  Kuvira's metal armor though, is susceptible to overheating if Azula lands several direct hits with just normal fire.  Then Kuvira is in danger of literally being cooked to death.

The big question of course is Azula's mental state.  If she's fully in control, like we saw in the last episode of Book 2, I think she wins pretty comfortably.  If she slips for even a second though, Kuvira will be all over her.  I say Azula wins 75% of the time.

they would both lose to being hit by a car
Azula can move at subsonic speeds, so a car could never hit her

Kuvira would literally just bend the car before it hit her. . . like you picked the two worst people in the Avatar universe to try to apply this to

you're no verbatim

Isn't that the show that runs at like 10 FPS? I saw the trailer once and noped out because of that.
That's only the first season - and it's an intentional choice. Honestly, you get used to it and it's incredibly charming. In the fight scenes / environment scenes, the FPS is boosted up to normal levels. And in the second season, it's normal throughout every scene.

There was a divided fanbase going into season 2, some who wanted to retain the style of the original season. But eventually the whiners won out, and probably to boost their numbers, they dropped that style.

Anything, it's far from distracting, and I love season 1. Disliking a good animated show based on the FPS of the animation is kinda like disliking a good video game because of the graphics.

It certainly helps Azula that Legend of Korra was an absolute dumpster fire.
Korra was great and had A1 villains

The Flood / UN Game (Slow Edition)
« on: August 02, 2019, 10:58:55 PM »
Hey there, why not a UN game in times of this small amount of posting to spice things up? First of all, progression of anything (military movement, technology, recruitment, etc) won't be based off of amount of posts, but the amount if time passed. So instead of saying "Project Eclipse - 5 pages to complete", you'd say "Project Eclipse - 3 days to complete". Training 5,000 soldiers of any form takes a day and everyone starts with 30,000 (plus no knowledge of anything but basic swordmen). Declaration of war is allowed indefinitely, but you must wait a day in between announcing the war and attacking anywhere, unless you're attacked first (this only applies to territory occupied by another human player). All nations can take part in any conflicts, but the day buffer between declaring war and attacking applies despite any alliances.

I'm the GM and like two others can be if they wish - just let me know before the game starts. GMs can play - they start with 25,000 soldiers and cannot attack, however they can retaliate against attacks if the fighting is on their land. GMs, even if their nation is eliminated, control matters of the meta game like fairness and can step in if players believe that another player is playing/progressing unfairly. The game begins an hour after we reach five players!

Map will be the great island of Americos, with technology beginning at the iron age for all parties.

Please enter the game by filling this out:
Quote
Nation's Name:
National Flag: (Optional)
Government Type:
Nation's Starting State: (Only relevant for filling in the map; the name isn't canon for game purposes)
Architectural Aesthetic: (Briefly describe the building aesthetic of your nation, for example which real-life country the architecture resembles)
State Religion: (If you have one)
Unique Laws Already Enacted: (Up to three; depending on how "big" the law is, some may have drawbacks)
National Product: (The main commodity you produce and export, within reason)

anime <3
Some guy has Bowsette and other generic looking anime girl stickers on his car at my job.

I wish I had a semi so I could flatten that car.
Why are you so judgmental? You throw back these Japanese children's games like they're candy, but oh no! someone likes Japanese animation?? I want to flatten his car!

Like seriously dude, 90% of the time, the stuff someone likes is no different than the stuff someone else likes. They're all just media that we enjoy. What, do you want everyone to think, act, and feel the way you do, about everything? That would get so boring, so fast.

If you like Avatar TLA, GoT, LOTR, or any other high quality fantasy
That's a pretty wide frame of reference fyi, doesn't really seem to say a whole lot about what it can be compared to when the three given examples are basically the different corners of the genre.
yeah I'm a bad writer and a worse person

time to go in for this interview wooooo!

If you like Avatar TLA, GoT, LOTR, or any other quality high fantasy works, this show might just be for you.

If you can forgive the choppy animation, that is.

It has tons of great, realistic characters, amazing dialogue/humor, and worldbuilding that's second-to-none. I was a huge fan of it from the second episode, you should really give it a shot!
