I didn't even think of the fact that not everyone would want an actual picture of themselves, publicly available or not, to be used as an avatar for some stranger on the internet, though. That's a good point. I don't think the general practice of it is disrespectful, but if someone doesn't want it used in that way and you continue to, unknowingly or not, it could be. Spoiler A drawing isn't much different in concept, but it's still a representation rather than a direct image.

it's creepy because you're literally taking someone's face and using it to represent you, when you're not them--i just find that really creepy on a visceral level
i wouldn't even use trent reznor as an avatar--it almost seems disrespectful
i'm just saying--if i were a famous celebrity, i'd be really disturbed to find people using my face as an avatar on backwater internet forums
also, vien did not come up with elites, so it's not completely original--i'd give his avatars a 1-3/10 on average just for being tasteless and borderline autistic, if it makes you feel better--it's not that i find his avatars less creepy; i think they're beyond creepy, but that doesn't mean i'd give it a 10/10 just for originality
i could give a completely original avatar a 1/10, if i thought it sucked hard enough--but the highest score an unoriginal avatar could ever get in my book is a 9/10

If someone has a headache you won't hesitate to give them drugs, and that's the problem. Instead of looking at it logically, pragmatically, or scientifically, you choose to rely on your miracle drugs without a second thought. The reasonable thing to do if you have a headache is figure out why you have it. If you've drank very little then maybe that's the cause, and the solution is a simple glas of water. Maybe your head hurts because when you fell it shook your brain, and you had a concussion.
Chamomile worked for me once, so I wanted to try it again. It didn't work in the long haul, so my conclusion is that it's not a cure, but a small buff.
