this thread isnt about television, there's this crazy new thing called an example

Freudian excuses are everywhere, yours is that your shitty upbringing made you cling to long dead pure and clean beliefs for comfort/security
I had a shitty upbringing?

If I had a shitty upbringing wouldn't it logically follow that I wouldn't have morals? lmao think first
not at all

some people accept the darkness and become drug dealers and shit, you did the opposite

They're not wrong though

Even if she meant it literally, that she wanted all her money to disappear live a completely normal life, there would be NOTHING wrong with that. Boo hoo, you're not rich. That doesn't give every rich person an obligation to stay rich.

Literally the same logic I'd use to be "against" FtM trans people, except even I can recognize that the disdain there is illogical and rooted in emotion. Which, surprise, is the same as the anti-wealth sentiment.
People who desire wealth but lack the drive to acquire it don't appreciate what they have.
People who have wealth but desire to be common don't appreciate what they have.

Both types of people are shallow.
Are FtM trans people shallow? Are MtF trans people shallow? Is someone who has a mutiliation fetish and cuts off the tip of their finger shallow? Is a man who gives up his possessions to live in the wild shallow?

People giving up things that are considered desirable by society or sects of society aren't shallow. She doesn't appreciate what she has? Why the fuck should she, if what she has is considered negative by HER??

God you've become so dumb
Everyone is shallow.

It's one of the traits that set humans apart from animals.
We refuse to be grateful for what we have.
We are shallow.

Separate yourself from possession and desire, and close yourself to jealousy and greed.
Do not want what is beyond your grasp. You will gain only pain.

If you expose yourself to peril, make it count.
Toil for an attainable goal, so that your pain births joy.

Do not mourn for the loss of a limb.
You have already lost the limb, let the pain end there.
Embrace your disfigurement and seek to overcome it.
Do not subject yourself to wanton woe and fail to bear fruit from it.

Depth comes from understanding.
Shallowness comes from fruitless woe.

So to answer your questions: not, anymore.
Because they address their own malcontent.
Before they address it, they are without depth.

They are merely a thin layer of grey malcontent adhering to the surface of a well filled with something colorful and wonderful in its own right.

The lesson is this: learn to appreciate what you have or do something to change it, because if not you will never find peace.
hmmm very good read! I like your grasp of words haha  :) just as some constructive criticism (even the best writers need it!) maybe tone down the intensity of your wording? It's good to have some range, but you don't want to look like you're trying to show off lol  :D not that you were, it's just that showy dialogue can often have that effect on your story. Anyway I think you have a lot of promise and I look forward to reading some more of your stuff!  ;)

the witch hunt on sitcoms is an epitomic example
That's because all you ever talk about it sitcoms, drugs, and feminism. Do you even do anything else with your life besides watch TV all day and get high? Seriously who the fuck even watches cable TV anymore?
Sorry I don't bitch about personal problems all day and instead choose to talk about things I enjoy lmao

I could talk about the date I went on w/ tinder girl today, but I already did and the thread was ignored

you people's problems are you don't appreciate interesting, unique threads and instead flock to run of the mill shit like this

Spoiler
And I talk about all forms of media, sitcoms are just one of my favorites. 2 1/2 Men and BBT are to sitcoms what pong is to the modern video game. And yet everyone associates them AS the definition of sitcoms. If I hear someone say I'm going to go play a video game, am I going to assume Space Invaders? JHC

Cable is retarded btw, all you need is Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, and a web browser.

Oh, and in case people try to say I'm reading too far into a kids show and the show isn't clever or proactive enough to employ Freudian Excuse as a trope:

I feel like there should be a limit on how many threads you can make a day
please explain to me how this isn't a quality thread, seriously

Is it because it deconstructs the media trope and real-life phenomenon of the Freudian excuse, and shows why it has no place in an intelligent mindset?

Maybe because of the bluntness of the solution? "Get over it" may seem harsh and overly simplified, but it encapsulates the attitude we should have towards those who justify their wrongdoing with their past.

Or is it because the clip comes from Totally Spies, and God knows you can't have strong writing in a cartoon/sitcom/soap/anything not sci-fi?
No its because you make like a million threads every five minutes
Literally meaningless. I could spam ten threads, and if they're all unique with discussion value, it doesn't fucking matter.

"omg there arent enough good threads why are we dead  :'("
"omg there are too many good threads I want to be dead  :'("

this thread and this one are two very high quality threads that got overlooked/disparaged

LMAO

You know things have gotten bad when half the threads on the flood are Solonoid/SecondClass shitposts and Jive brag threads. This coupled with Verb/SecondClass/Challenger arguing in every possible topic imaginable has made the forum kind of stale.

You guys need some new content.

"omg guys stop arguing? how about some ORIGINAL content am I right??"

"um wtf is this high discussion value thread that opens up the question of whether or not the reasons for someone's maliciousness hold any justification for it, using a popular TV show quote as a gripping lead in??"

An explanation for your shitty behavior ("things were different back then") is not a justification for it. I don't care what your tragic backstory is, it doesn't apply to us and you can't use it as a weapon.
