literally all that ever needs to be posted in response to jake's autism
that acting is wooden as FUCK
from the few scenes I've seen on YouTube I could never tell if that was the gimmick or what
even if that were true (it isn't) writing is 90% of a film or tv show, not acting
if bad acting takes you out of the apotheosis of television comedies I feel bad for you
That scene was the climax of the episode?
Did I say that scene was the apotheosis of the episode or did I say community is the apotheosis of television comedies please go back to your shitty inner city english teacher and yell at her

i actually completely agree with you
rarely does the quality of a film's acting bother me, because writing really is more important
but that was like... shocking
like I said, maybe if you're some sherlock esque person reader (you're not) or the more likely option, you hold a grudge against a tv show lmao

Just become an entertainment history fag, way better Spoiler Do you support this constitution?
Of course-
Then defend it.
...and what if you're backing the wrong horse?
Burr. We studied, and we fought, and we killed, for the notion of a nation we now get to build. For once in your life, take a stand with pride! I don't understand how you stand to the side-
I'll keep all my plans close to my chest...
(wait for it, wait for it)
I'll wait here and see which way, the wind will blow...I'm taking my time, watching the afterbirth of the nation! Watching the tensions grow...
So much better than a documentary. You lose some truth and get some embellishment/untruths in exchange, but at least this kind of stuff is watchable

you can change the title but you can't change the URL
carson keller is a racist
doesnt matter - people needing to search a thread for context is much less life affecting than "omg guys look at this" also shows I was making a point and not legit

was this really what arguing with me was like back in the day
lol I don't literally ignore logic/syllogism other people post
tell me what you think a syllogism is
this should be good
literally just a chain of logic

it's selfish and character damaging in terms of social interaction to recognize those biases and choose to not do anything about them, in other words

« on: June 15, 2017, 03:08:55 AM »
There's nothing wrong with it morally at all, you're not affecting anyone with inner thoughts. Notice how I've only said 'ethically' itt - it's socially irresponsible and selfish to keep those thoughts in your head, where they can indirectly affect your acts, instead of taking the proactivity to rid yourself of objectively immoral thoughts.

You don't disagree with me. See how I said "as soon as you realize". Even if the thought is unconscious, it's still a bad thought, but you aren't bad until you identify the thought and don't fight against it.
As long as "fight against it" includes "acting on it" or "intentionally encouraging someone else to act on it", then everything should be hunky-dory.
Nah lol, not fighting against it means nothing but not trying to eliminate the bad subconscious thought from your mind
If I had racist tendencies subconsciously and then one day suddenly realized that, I would be a shitty person if I didn't try to actively change it
I mean, actively changing it would be doing your best to reduce or eliminate that bias. For real, not all thoughts can be eliminated outright. You can just do your best to ignore or act in the opposite of them.
only spoilered to reduce the use of pity points I have OCD, and it is a living nightmare to have awful thoughts of people I don't know. While it sucks, it has also given me the perspective that all people deal with bad thoughts to some extent, and the good ones are the people who I can't know the bad thoughts of since they decline to act upon them.
OCD is a mental condition, bigotry/learned biases aren't Spoiler I definitely had some level of OCD when I was a kid, or at least the symptoms of it. Always related to night rituals and such because of my sleep issues
I don't really feel it today tho, I guess with really minor things like drawers or needing to correct superstitions I break even though I know it's bullshit
nothing to your level though, that's pretty terrible

thoughts shouldn't be crimes or anything like verb thinks, but holding some thoughts is definitely unethical in and of itself
Disagree. Thoughts aren't conscious; you can have thoughts and simultaneously disagree with them. Penultimate example is OCD, even more specifically Pure-O OCD. Thoughts are the result of the unconscious mind, which deliberates upon all things regardless of a person's ideologies.
Thinking someone has a "punchable face" (only in quotation marks due to the nature of the conversation) is not something someone considers on the conscious level, but the unconscious level.
You don't disagree with me. See how I said "as soon as you realize". Even if the thought is unconscious, it's still a bad thought, but you aren't bad until you identify the thought and don't fight against it.

I use thoughts, not hormone driven emotions. then why did you let yourself get asshurt enough to make an entire separate thread to take the piss out of aria and verb
getting mad enough to assault a human being =/= getting irritated enough to make a point, not difficult stuff and LOL jacob liked this post? lmao I thought this dude was supposed to be this big intellectual

Even then, I could argue the "punchable" bit too. While Shkreli is an evil person, I would personally feel he's been wronged if he was hit outside of some pre-agreed action (for some PR charity or something).
Point is, it doesn't mean that you want a person to be punched, it's just a cultural way of expressing the idea that they exude the very concept of being a terrible person.
I feel that the phrase is evil at worst (if taken at face value) and misleading and unnecessary at best. You can't look at a person's appearance and judge them, that's so fucked up

either you say someone has a punchable face literally, in which you're using bigotry to justify violent thoughts; or figuratively, in which you're using ever-changing moods and (usually) unintentional "negative" expressions to justify violent thoughts
pro backpedaling, but the alternative is bad too
Have I said anything else so far? My b if so, I'm not always great at expressing my points.
And I'm fine with thoughts, so long as they don't become actions or calls-to-action
thoughts shouldn't be crimes or anything like verb thinks, but holding some thoughts is definitely unethical in and of itself

class stop acting like a chode
tbh it's Verb-tier
All parties may take that as they will
saying someone has a punchable face is saying they're at fault for their facial features
this is not an issue of semantics
Face is shorthand for "typical expressions". Some people look dweeby, some look smug, some look like they practice in a mirror. Regardless, the term (like most lingual shorthand) refers to certain traits that the average person attributes to expression (facial or chosen, such as hairstyle or accessory choice) because of inherent biases created by the media or personal experience.
Like tbh the perfect example of this definition is in this thread, where Verb (wrongly) believes Adam Scott has a punchable face, which is the result of his experiences both personal and from the media (maybe he watched Step Brothers one too many times, idk)
even if this were true, it isnt good people say "punchable face" like a) it's some universal rule and b) theyre in the right for thinking that way as soon as you realize you dislike someone because of bias/history/their facial expressions, you should step back and realize youre being shitty, then stop doing it

Martin doesn't have a punchable face

look me in the eye and tell me you wouldn't take a swing at this guy on principle
Nope, because I'm not an ape. I use thoughts, not hormone driven emotions. So the guy has unappealing facial features/expressions. Who fucking cares enough to make up a whole bullshit phrase for it?

Be honest, you get REALLY petty about semantics sometimes
i'm an english nerd, i have an excuse
Caring about semantics is dumb when everyone knows what the illocution is unlike itt where you people think that saying punchable face means anything but what it sounds like

NEVER judge anyone for their physical traits, literal subhuman thinking. Even if 100% turned out to be douches, you shouldn't think they are until they prove themselves that way.
To note, the only person with a universally punchable face is Martin Shkreli (surprised more people don't think that about Trump). Everyone else is the result of experiences and internal biases.
Martin doesn't have a punchable face, nor does anyone. The closest you can get is being ugly, which is already subliminally discriminated against by society, no need to make it a stated discrimination too.
