I had a weird fucking dream last night that involved saving a bunch of people from a zombie/dinosaur crisis, and Elegiac was one of them. Anyone ever experienced anything similar?

If you're proclaiming the meaning of life then it needs to apply to everyone. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Simply the fact is that the meaning of life is and forever will be a matter of opinion. No one ever finds the meaning of life. Their definition is going to be vastly different from the next person's.
Now you're just arguing semantics.

Less the meaning of life and more so the meaning of economics. Not to shit on economics, because people who don't appreciate its sheer relevance are fucking lunatics.
It's pretty much the pocket guide for surviving in a capitalist market. Which is useful because that just happens, along with feminism, to be the thing that's given 1% of human history 99% of the wealth which has ever existed.
You'd be surprised how aptly the principles of capitalism relate to all aspects of human existence. We're naturally greedy, and our relation to others is directly tied to what they can do for us.

Then in that case, we're still primitive as fucking rocks. Call me after around 10,000 years of evolution or so.
That's just it. That's the difference of how things are, and how they should be. Should humans have a natural instinct for ambition, for doing anything to get ahead? No, but that's how we are. It's no different, or less moral, than the lion having an instinct to kill. Every minute of organic existence has winners and losers; you have to choose which one to be. And whining about the rules won't make you win.

If even one person can live without society then you're argument is automatically flawed.
How so? Only a fraction of people find the meaning of life. Most people never find it. People who live out in the woods by themselves definitely haven't.

There are flaws in that theory. Plenty of people live without society.
Sure, maybe .001% of people do. But the overwhelming majority of people don't. Do you wonder why that is?

But you start off by insinuating that the meaning of life is dependent on any kind of "value" to society. Society doesn't mean shit in the end because individuals are what make society existent. So the value of the individual to themselves is what has meaning. Plenty of people have worth without using or contributing to society. No one needs society to survive. Society is more of an imaginary entity created by people.
Humans are inherently social animals. We crave stimulation, and working with others is the only way to get that. We don't need society to survive, but we need it to live.

And here's the cherry on top. Society means nothing. What am I bringing to society? Nothing. Because society doesn't care. Society is simply the product of numbers. Society was Humans banding together to do what they couldn't do alone. Essentially, the weak using their numbers to become strong. And it shows. Scientifically proven that the larger our numbers become in an area, the lower the intelligence of the entire group becomes.
And this is why we have wars, and religion, and a capitalistic society. Because at the top of the board, are people pulling the strings. And they can lead everybody around as they please. They could run everyone to their deaths and the crowd wouldn't even see it.
You know who really got things done? The thinkers. The outcasts. The people alone in their intelligence who were shunned in their age, scoffed at and mocked. And, years later, long after they were gone, suddenly, they were right. The crowds finally caught up, like that one fat kid in gym class.
Society does not care about what you can bring to the table, and it never did, and it never will. Society, as a whole, will never return what you give. All it ever accomplished was two things.
1. It allowed those who couldn't do things on their own to flourish, contributing to the great effect that we know as mob mentality, dulling and diluting the intelligence of people so much that today, there's almost a line, a barrier, a class. Those at the bottom who turn the gears williingly, and those at the top who give the orders and control everything.
2. Make a bigger target for trouble. The bigger the footprint, the easier you are to spot. Every great empire we've ever made fell for one sole reason. It was too big in someone's eyes. What's the first thing any of our nukes target if they're launched? Population centers.
Society has little to give in return but in favor asks for your life and more. No sir, you've always been worth little to society, because society was founded off the numbers of people who couldn't do anything.
Of course people at the top are pulling the strings. And they're at the top for a reason. Because they worked within the confines of the system. They provided society with what it needed, each in their own way. And contrary to your contention, society did give back. That's the whole purpose of currency, of promotions. You may say that titles and money are worthless, and I would be inclined to agree, if not for the one thing they both garner: power. I've already said that human nature is greed and ambition, and there's a reason for that: no matter how much people love denying it, power is every human's greatest desire. And power is exactly what playing the system, bringing something to society's table, earns you. I agree that it's often the outcasts of society who make the biggest philosophical or technological breakthrough, but like you said, "long after they were gone, suddenly, they were right." If they weren't right until they were dead, that means that their life was a failure. Legacy means nothing. When you're dead, you won't know you're being honored. All that matters is power and respect while you're alive. In business, in life, and even in love, all that's important is what you're bringing. People only care who you are in relation to how it affects them. And that's how it should be.

Sandtrap.... That was a glorious thing to read, Class posted a video of this guy in a movie being this jackass and ranting about what Class is talking about. That was nothing in comparison to what you wrote. 100/10 would read again.
Even though he didn't address the point of this thread whatsoever...

-snip-
This isn't about money. It's about the fact that your only measure of worth to society is what you bring to it. You could be the richest fucker on the planet, but if you're not bringing anything to the table, you're worth nothing to society.

I'm not even going to argue with an objectively wrong statement.

That's called capitalism, not the meaning of life.
Capitalism is the only economic system that actually embraces human nature: greed and ambition. That's why it's so successful.

It's not about love, it's not about happiness. It's about what you bring to the table. People don't care about how pure your heart is, or how much money you give to charity. They care about what you can do for them. Anyone who tries to 'fight the system' is a fool. It's about working in the system. People are selfish, sure. But that's not our fault; it's how we're wired. And nothing can change that. "Nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? Fuck you, go home and play with your kids." Who agrees with this simple idea?

What are you, 12? The word nigga was used by African Americans to identify with each other during the times of heavy racism in the US afte being called nigg(er). It was like a brotherhood thing, hard to explain. And you shouldn't say it to anyone, that's like going up to a white person and saying. "What's up my crackah" even if the two white guys are calling each other that. The word nigga was derived from the same hateful word used against African Americans. And anyone who uses the word nigga is stupid. Because if you truly knew how much of a hateful word it was you wouldn't use it at all.
Okay, kid. Words evolve, you know.

Royal Oak, it's a suburb of Detroit.

I guess you suburban white kids feel cool and dangerous saying it.
No, I feel normal saying it. Again, it's common slang for "bro" that everyone in my area uses.

I feel your pain, except i live in jersey, so if i say it out-loud all the white boys gang up on me
My sympathy goes out to anyone living in that state.

I love the -snip- word.
The -er ending is racist. Not the -a ending. I don't have a problem with racism, but this thread is about a word that's not racist at all.

Like, seriously, it's just another word for "bro", or "friend". People on this forum always tell me "well go say that to a black guy and see what happens l0L", but I always say that word to my black friends, and they say it back to me. Pretty much everyone at my school uses it to each other, and no one except for white adults has a problem with it. Even the black teachers at my school don't give a fuck when someone uses it.
This has led me to believe that people on this forum, and stingy white people in general, are trying to "protect" black people by getting butthurt over that word, when most blacks don't even care. Now that's racism in and of itself.
Who agrees?
