Serious / "Snipers are cowards"
« on: January 26, 2015, 10:44:22 PM »
Is there anyone here who actually believes this? First off, anyone who puts their life on the line for what they believe to be a good cause isn't a coward. And secondly, snipers are in just as bad of a situation as the basic footsoldiers. They have to deal with larger threats, enemy snipers. It baffles me why anyone (Michael Moore especially) would say something like that. What are your thoughts?

That's a shitty situation. I'd just lay low for the week, and thank your brother tremendously (for both the shelter and defending you) afterward. There's not much you can do about someone not liking you.

My family. Were it not for them, I would've off'd myself awhile ago.

^This is the only correct answer.
Not really.

How not?
Not everyone likes their family. I don't even keep in touch with my mom, and I haven't seen my dad in half a decade.

Oh, wait, I'm one of the most intelligent members here. You must just suck with arguments.
You've clearly been injecting too many marijuanas today.
Not really. I like a lot of modern music, but the butthurt kids on here just can't handle the fact that I think The Beatles are the best band of all time.
Because you're objectively wrong.
Whatever helps you feel cool and different, man.
But how am I different when everyone else agrees with me?
Only everyone else on this forum. Most of the world loves them, but people here would slit their throats to be different from the world. Hence, the anti-Beatles circlejerk on this site.
>implying this is the only group of people who know the truth
There's really no need to get this mad over musical tastes, bro.

My identity. But that's an obvious answer, so, my intelligence. Or maybe my charisma. Material-wise, I'd say my car.

The Beatles were essentially the One Direction Of their time. The only reason they got famous was because of covers they did, because they were cute boys, and because they sang songs to melt their female audiences hearts.

Now, coming up on rubber soul they actually started writing ok shit, but they are still super over rated and modern music would be no worse off with out them.
Yawn.

Try harder next time.

No album is the best QotsA album.
You say Justin Beiber I say the Beatles
You say Miley Cyrus I say [record I found in my dad's basement next to his gay porn]

I was born in le wrong generation :^)
I guess I'm just too dumb to see the assuredly devastating point you're trying to make here.

I actually just got back from watching it myself.
That was an incredibly well done movie.
Yeah, I was expecting it to be a "Fuck yeah, murica is #1!" movie, but was pleasantly surprised.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if you were.
Nah, I fucking despise trangenders. They all piss me off. It's like they all have a giant stick shoved up their ass or something at all times. If they could actually learn to be nice to people I wouldn't hate them.
I mean, they're disgusting, sure. But this irrational hatred of TGs is indicative of a deeper issue. People generally despise people who represent the flaws they see in themselves.
You've got a point. It's like homophobic people that don't want to admit they're gay.
Hell, I was pretty transphobic myself for that reason.
Exactly.

Spoiler
Don't feel obligated to answer this, and I might be outdated a bit, but are you actually a transgender? I've heard rumors, but never straight from the horse's mouth.

Say what you want about Chris Kyle himself, but that was an extremely well-made film. Great acting, great cinematography,  and great directing. There were a lot of foreshadowing and metaphors, too. Bradley Cooper was amazing.

What were your thoughts on the movie?

Spoiler
This is a discussion about the MOVIE, not about the actual events. Take it to Serious if you want to talk about that.
The movie was boring. The first few times you see someone get blown away, sure, it keeps you interested, but after a long while of it it's exhausting.

The plot was barely there, too, besides "fight the bad guys." Yeah, there's a specific enemy in the film, but even when Chris defeats him, it's anti-climatic. The transitions were rough, too, and it felt like there were huge chunks missing out of the story as it progressed.

Not to mention that the main character is practically one of those...Mary Sue characters, I guess. Boringly perfect and unwavering. There are a few forced "morality" problems that he's forced to jump over, but he just came off as stale and uninteresting. People calling him "Legend" was just cheesy, too. I mean, goddamn...

I gave it a C-, but it was bordering on a D+ at times.
You and I must've been watching two completely different movies. I was never bored, unlike when I watched The Hurt Locker. And how was he portrayed as perfect? He had far more flaws than assets. The best parts of the movie were when they showed his gradual decay of sanity. Nothing in the movie made me gasp more than when he nearly killed that dog at the barbecue. Now that I think about it, seriously, how were you bored?

I was JUST thinking about this when I was watching the movie. I love how we see the Nazis in that movie as barbarians for cheering at Zoller killing American soldiers, yet that's exactly what we do while watching American Sniper. Pretty ironic.

Doesn't detract from the quality of the movie, though.

Great "America fuck yeah explosions and shooting" film.

Eastwood continues to deliver.
I saw it as much more nuanced than that, but whatever.
