granted, there are only like 1 or 2 good comedians

there may not even be any at all

there has certainly never been a great comedian
if you think this you're a straight up moron instead of a miso

pick a lane

Yes they do, because she's perfectly funny and makes the same jokes as a lot of male comedians who aren't universally hated

And there are tons of iconic female comedians lmao, ever heard of Sarah Silverman or Kate McKinnon? I can cite the usual Fey/Pohler mashup as well

Stop saying cunt btw, that's a sexist slur ("b-but I use it for men too!" That's great, just because you call a white dude the n-word doesn't make the word okay to use)

Who?

A famous actress who allegedly used to molest her little sister when she was a kid.
You have no high ground lol, you're allegedly a serial rapist

Spoiler
I hope everyone here has learned an important lesson about the uselessness of "alleged" claims

What's your problem

She's been accused of molestation, that's a fact. Whether she actually did it or not is irrelevant to what I said.
The fact that someone asked who she is, and you immediately identified her as the person who a baseless claim was made against, is indicative that you believe the claim and see it as inseparable to her character. You didn't mention her work as a comedian or actress, just the she-said accusation against her.

It's no different than you getting brought up somewhere, and the first thing I say about you is how you're allegedly a serial rapist. I can hide behind the wording of the description ("he was accused of serial raping, that's a fact"), but it doesn't change the duplicitous and misleading nature of it.

well considering its a loaf thread i felt compelled to mention the allegations.

but yeah youre right. i apologise.

but when someone accuses another of sexually abusing them would you rather we believe them until proven wrong or ignore them until evidence surfaces that supports them

personally the former sounds like the right choice to me with harsh penalties for people who are crying wolf
thanks for your humility

and it's a tricky subject for sure (the idea that false sexual assault allegations are widespread or even common is ridiculous), but the fact is that we live in a society of morals and oversight

I'd rather set a criminal free than send an innocent to jail, and the way that we know who the innocents are and who the criminals are DEPENDS on proof. Someone who makes an allegation shouldn't be immediately believed or immediately distrusted, it's our duty to find the truth in the matter and sometimes that means inspecting things on a case by case basis.

In Dunham's case, what she did was gross and weird - as children are - but she was seven years old, and was still discovering what sex and genitals even were. There was no malice or power games, and it wasn't even her sister who came forward. Dunham herself described what happened in her own memoir, and then others (likely to keep the hate wagon against Dunham strong), showed their total lack of understanding of child psychology by describing it as sexual abuse, which it wasn't.

I'm not a fan of Dunham by any means, haven't seen any of her stuff, but the obsession everyone suddenly has with her is very reminiscent of Amy Schumer, a perfectly fine comedian who was hated for her gender.

lena dunham is a frumpy talentless cunt actor known for having a dogshit personality and toxic worldview

better?
Better but not perfect. A good answer would be that she's a writer and actress who created the show Girls, among other things, and that she's widely hated on the Internet.

What is this Mandela Effect-esque misremembering of Dane Cook? He's a genuinely funny comic (movies aside), and his material is always on-point and hilarious. If you're scoffing or rolling your eyes right now, take a look at either of these two videos (second one is way longer but has a legendary payoff)

YouTube

YouTube

If any other comic delivered these same bits with the exact timing and inflection as Cook does, no one would call them unfunny. I'm convinced the Dane Cook hate is a Rick and Morty style backlash against someone who had the misfortune of becoming too popular too quick.

There's a stupid social trend where people think that their interests define them on a personal level, so they go out of their way to have unique, cool interests rather than ones that they legitimately enjoy. I have all kinds of interests, from mainstream (TWD, Family Guy, R&M), to niche (Community, Heathers, Twin Peaks), to straight obscure (Totally Spies, Mazzy Star, MBV). The commonality isn't their popularity, it's that I like them.

This is how everyone should think, and it's a character blunder to only dislike things when they become popular, or vice versa. The average person, if they're being honest with themselves, has FAR more mainstream interests than niche or obscure ones, because generally popular things become popular for a reason. The same is true for Dane Cook - the bandwagon against him became a dead horse years ago, yet people still ride it.

It wasn't him, Charley, it was YOU. Remember that night in the Garden? You came down to my dressing room and you said, "Kid, this ain't your night. We're going for the price on Wilson." You remember that? "This ain't your night"! My night! I coulda taken Wilson apart! So what happens? He gets the title shot outdoors on the ballpark and I get a one-way ticket to Palooka-ville! You was my brother, Charley! You shoulda looked out for me a little bit. You shoulda taken care of me a little bit so I wouldn't have to take them dives for the short-end money.

You didn't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda BEEN somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. It was you, Charley.
