As a single man, you have two choices: pay for a woman's drink, or be ostracised by them. Which one are you going to choose? Even if you consider this an "antiquated norm", which you seem to, you have still failed to object to: higher insurance, Mother's/Father's day and greater fatality rates in the workplace.
I mean, maybe once you're in a relationship you can start splitting bills and shit. But that is far from the norm. To deny that is just ignoring the facts.

Even if the "wage gap" existed, it would still be alright that men make more. They routinely pay for women's drinks, food and gifts, etc. They also have higher insurance rates (at least, in Canada), and statistically endure more fatalities per year than women.
