Quote
Nationwide, preliminary indications are that the total turnout for the 2014 elections was only 36.6 percent, according to the United States Elections Project at the University of Florida.

In America, we should be celebrating our democracy and doing everything possible to make it easier for people to participate in the political process. Election Day should be a national holiday so that everyone has the time and opportunity to vote. While this would not be a cure-all, it would indicate a national commitment to create a more vibrant democracy.

We should not be satisfied with a "democracy" in which more than 60 percent of our people don't vote and some 80 percent of young people and low-income Americans fail to vote. We can and must do better than that. While we must also focus on campaign finance reform and public funding of elections, establishing an Election Day holiday would be an important step forward.

People will never be able to use the "I have to work on election day" excuse again

"I really don't understand live-action TV"
"I really don't understand novellas"
"I really don't understand stop motion animation"

See why it's dumb to treat mediums like they're genres?

No need to "ensure stability" or "rebuild the region" or any of that. ISIS just needs to be eliminated.

This is literally the mentality that allowed ISIS to grow in the region.
"ISIS needs to be eliminated" is the mentality that allowed ISIS to grow?

Makes sense.

No, I'm talking about the mentality that we can eliminate a terrorist group and then just leave. It's just naive.
We can. It takes years, maybe even decades, for terrorist groups to get enough power to actually pose a threat to America. Who cares what's going on in the Middle East? We only need to deal with threats that affect us. Anything else is waste of our resources.

Ah, taking the stance of isolation. That's never come back to cause problems. has it?
It hasn't. America was only truly isolationist for a very short period of time.

2.) Wipe out ISIS in two weeks
3.) Go home

But GMOs
Oh my god, I'm against GMOs and have other political beliefs? That's insane.

Wait, how is it depressing? Are you talking about the end of Rixty Minutes? That had a pretty goddamn uplifting ending.

"Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's going to die. Come watch TV?"

That doesn't sound depressing as hell to you? The show is so pessimistic about life in general, and every time I finish an episode I feel really down.
No, it's freeing. People have all of these notions that life is some big grand thing, that they were put here for a reason to achieve some higher purpose. When in reality, we're all just here by chance, organisms living out our carbon-based life. When you accept that, realize that life is meant to be enjoyed, not mulled over, you open up yourself to something better.
