maybe people should just stop getting so offended
but that's none of my business
"Hey, you there. Yeah, you, you with the depression. Uhhhhhhhhhhh, stop! K? It kind of annoys me sometimes that you're suffering so, uh, don't!"
You don't choose to be depressed. You take offense.
And it's pretty sick to correlate clinical depression with people saying mean words to you, anyway.
There is no denying that words are extremely powerful. This is why playwrights, poets and authors that have been dead for years are to this day still remembered. They can and do have an emotional affect on people. They're how we communicate sentiments and ideas to one another.
Obviously, words can exacerbate depression and make it worse. But they're by no means the root, as Cindo was implying.
I'm implying that words obviously enforce something.
You can say "well just choose what to be offended by" all day long, but when the words actually carry weight and aren't simply, "H-HEY, YOU'RE STUPID!!!" it means a lot more.
To a person like me, for example, suffering from major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and gender dysphoria, saying something to the effect of "you'll never be what you want to be, you'll always be a man, you'll never stop feeling like this, etc." carries a lot more effect that stopping a man on the street and saying, "you're a POOPY head."

Why do I bother?
you need to get thicker skin friend stop being such a drama king

And yeah, I like MLP and would like to keep my penis thank you very much.
lol when will people learn that being a tranny =/= getting a sex change/crossdressing?
I'm probably one, but you don't see me running around trying to do something that can't be done
When will people like you learn that "tranny," as it is a slur, is incredibly non-descriptive and does just about nothing to describe someone besides "person that doesn't fit my definition of a cisgender individual"
Transvestite is the term that originated 'tranny' as it refers to men who dress in clothes typically meant for females and may try to fit the "look" in an overall sense as well - crossdressers, drag queens, etc. 'Tranny' originates as a slut from this because it is meant to refer to transgender/transsexual individuals as nothing more than a man dressing in women's clothing.
Transgender is a somewhat all-encompasing term for someone who is not cisgender. They may or may not have taken hormone replacement therapy (HRT), sexual reassignment surgery (SRS), and may simply be nothing more than a person who identifies as the opposing gender but has taken no steps to work towards that direction. It describes one's mental state more than one's physical state.
Transsexual refers to a person who has gone through all the steps - HRT, SRS, fully legalized as their identified gender, legally changed name, etc.
well I'm not trans then because I'm not delusional. You can't "identify" as the opposite sex. You can really deeply, deeply desire to be the opposite sex, but you can't actually ever fulfill that wish. If you're a guy and you're "identifying" as a girl, it's just wishful thinking.

i'd like to point out that just because you don't personally find a slur offensive, that doesn't make it any less of a slur
i think that's the idea being perpetuated right now
N-word privileges is a thing, bro to deny that is just ignorant.

Let me just say this SecondClass
Do you see it wrong when you see a perfectly feminine woman doing construction work? What is that called? That woman would be called a strong independent woman from first glance. A woman would also never get a second glance for watching a boys show like Adventure Time or Regular Show.
HOWEVER.
When a man is seeing as a fashion designer, they are always seen as gay. Even when some aren't. (Yes, a lot of them are openly gay but not all.) These men are also never taken seriously unless with women or other designers/models. THEN when a man watches a girl's show, they are right away seen as gay, transsexual or not manly.
DO I SEE A BIAS HERE?'
Occupation has no bearing on your gender identity, IMO. I don't see male fashion designers as anything but stylish. No, its how you act and feel that I think determines it more than anything else. Adventure Time and Regular Show aren't boys shows. MLP is a girls show.

you can reclaim words, nigga
ugh
well yeah, that's a hypocrisy of cindy's actually
>gets offended by slurs >uses "nigga" all the time >is white
you're all fucking idiots
why don't we just recognize that words are fucking words and stop flipping our shit anytime someone spouts a collection of syllables
"I failed my high school history classes and have no idea how language can contribute to dehumanization."
if by failed you mean got a 5 on my US History AP and anyway, obviously some words have hidden malice behind them, I'm not an idiot. The point is that we shouldn't keep being scared of them and letting them control us. You want to eliminate bigotry? Real change comes with defiance, not following the quo. If people continue to be terrified to use certain words then those words just get more and more powerful.

like you do with "meme" or what
Meme isn't some slur, it's just a stupid word. I don't get personally offended when people use it, just annoyed. Apples and oranges.

Guys liking girly things doesn't necessarily mean they want to be one
why else would you watch a show like MLP, if you didn't identify with the demographic of the other gender?
Just because you identify with or like something that doesn't typically fit in with what you're expected to, it doesn't mean you want to become it yourself
You can like whatever you want That's your opinion
Whereas being a tranny would be based on how you feel you are, not on the amount of stuff you like from that gender
True, but it's rare to find a man who's perfectly comfortable with his gender doing uber-girly shit like watching MLP

>Says it's not a troll thread >Uses a slur
Anyways, that'd be like asking "how can you like rap music and not be a nigger?"
Check it out, I even put in the slur.
What you like has nothing to do with who you are. You can be a guy who likes playing with dolls and wearing dressed whilst being perfectly comfortable being male, and by the same token you can be a girl who likes watching football and wearing baggy jeans whilst being perfectly comfortable being female. The two don't correlate directly just because activities are typically associated with genders - something that society has reinforced, as well.
lmao tranny isn't a slur first of all and just LOL. If you're a guy and you're wearing dresses, that's fucking crossdressing and it's disgusting. That's a step above just being a regular tranny

this isn't a troll thread first of all, I'm just legitimately curious
it's a cutesy show for little girls, with all female characters, doing typically girly things, and talking about the power of friendship and magic. Like half the show is making dresses. Are all "bronies" just closet traps?
