The Flood / Re: Freindly reminder that Midi-Chlorians are still canon
« on: December 23, 2015, 01:10:28 AM »
I never understood why people hated midichlorians so much. It makes sense that some people are more force-sensitive than others.
The force is supposed to be fantastical space magic, and assigning pseudo-science draws unnecessary attention to something you're just supposed to glaze over.
Well, yeah, but people like Han Solo could never use the force, even if he trained under Obi-Wan. People like Luke had it come naturally to them, and so did everyone in Luke's bloodline. There has to be some explanation there, and midichlorians fit the bill.

Do you disagree with the fact that if you're not a theist, you're an atheist? It's in the definition of the word. Just tell me whether or not you agree with that so I can know whether or not to waste anymore time ITT.
are you retarded? of course i know the difference between theism and atheism. you're assuming that those who dont affiliate with a particular religion are not theists. you do not have to belong to a religion to be a theist.

and id suggest you take a few steps back. ive been civil thus far but you're beginning to act like an ignorant troglodyte and if this continues i will no longer humor you.
Whatever.
id like you to seriously consider the things ive told you instead of simply walking away without learning anything.

Identifying as an atheist =/= being an atheist

You can't seriously expect me to believe that 97.6% of Americans believe in god.

He's right, Azu. We're expecting too much of SecondClass to believe that empirical evidence is true.
Just because you have all of these idiots who put down "I don't believe in God, but I don't identify as an atheist". It skews the poll results. If you don't believe in god, you're an atheist. It doesn't fucking matter what you "identify" as.
once again i must stress that religious non-affiliation does not automatically mean that they dont believe in god.
No, but it certainly can, and the whole atheist in everything but name shit happens so much. It's because the vocal atheists have ruined the word for everyone, so people do the whole "atheism is a religion, too" line and just pretend that they're "nonreligious". Newsflash: if you're not a theist, you're an atheist. That's literally what the word means.

Personally no, but it depends on who you are and what you want. That kind of commitment requires you to sign away a chunk of your life; you better be prepared to suck it up, come hell or high-water, if you choose to enlist.
Do you know how many years the typical enlistment contract is?
The minimum is eight years.
What? I thought it was like a two or three years thing

fuck that lol

Lmao of course

Kinda reminds me of the old men who sent troops to Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq, but did no heavy lifting themselves.

Funny how the age group has flipped around.

I don't really care what you buy into. That sauce doesn't differentiate between agnostic and atheist, so it is an irrelevant statistic.
All these mental gymnastics
you're the one performing mental gymnastics here bub.
Not at all. The initial argument here was that atheism is some borderline belief that only exists on the Internet. That's obviously false.

All these mental gymnastics just to keep believing that atheism is some fringe belief. Keep deluding yourself.

And by the way, calling sources "sauces" makes you sound like some cringy T3h P3nguin of Doom!! person

It's actually 16% worldwide. And yes, when you consider that Christianity is only 33%, that is very popular.

"Non-religious" doesn't count.

I want straight-up "atheist".
Fuck that. Non-religious and atheist are straight-up synonyms. If you don't believe in god, you're an atheist. I don't buy into that Reddit atheism shit.

Atheism is popular in communities like ours. Is it popular?
Atheism is very popular in real life.

Less than 1% of people in the world, I reckon.

Less than 15% in the West, I reckon.
lolno, you're way off

14% in the world, 22% in America. Which, when you consider it, is a fairly large number.

Sauce?

Anyways, I wouldn't really say that's "popular".
