The Flood / Re: At what age did you lose your virginity
« on: March 01, 2016, 03:17:00 AM »
I used to think lowly of people that had a lot of it.

As you should. There's nothing glamourous about being a slut.
There's nothing shameful about it, either. But there is shame in being so insecure in your own self that you have to call people names and look down on them for things that are none of your business.

And by the way, if you're going to call girls sluts if they sleep with X number of people per week, you have to call guys sluts if they also sleep with that number, or else you're just a hypocrite.

Serious / Re: Opinions on the raising of children by same-sex parents?
« on: March 01, 2016, 03:03:00 AM »
Well, I'm not a retard, so I'm aware that same-sex couples are not better nor worse parents than hetero couples.

The lack of one parental figure (be it the mother figure in male homosexuality, and father figure in female homosexuality) is what I'm concerned with. Does this actually have any impact on how the child will grow up?
ban single parents

Literally doesn't matter in any significant way. What's far more important is how you're raising your child.

that's just an expression, it just means doing something so intoxicating to your personality it's a "high". But that's not something I can achieve. I might go out with friends, play some video games, go on a hike, etc. But that's just leisure. It's not a literal escape, you don't forget anything.
I just don't see why you would want to forget something, when you're only going to remember it later--with nothing solved.
Because time spent high is time when you don't. The period of time itself is great, but it also makes time spent afterwards easier, since you're a little less burdened, a little more relaxed. Of course it's not some magic secret to life. It just helps. Anyone who doesn't use any drugs at all, is far stronger than me. I need some sometimes, I need a lot sometimes. I'm not trying to like be some cool guy who's proud of it or whatever, just explaining my perspective

not a positive or rewarding life...but whatever, I do drugs to feel better, you can look down on others to feel better. But one of those only affects the individual.
Have you considered that you may be using the drugs as a stand-in for spiritual experiences you are, for whatever reason, missing?
Spiritual experiences? Of course not. I use them because life would be unbearable otherwise. I don't know what everyone else is doing that I'm missing, but everything is just so much work. It's just going through the motions, a greyscale slog of things I'm obligated to do on a daily basis. There's no motivation other than "you gotta get up".

It would be maddening for me to not have an escape from that. But that's just me.
I'm sure you've heard of the term "natural high."

And while it's good to have in my day, leisure doesn't really help or relieve. It's just something a little less intensive to do.

Anything under 16 is the epitome of degeneracy.
no one gives a fuck about your middle school ideals

Wouldn't doing it as young as possible to show off how cool you are be schoolkid ideals?
depends on what type of kid you were

there are plenty who followed rules, laws, and policies to a t

In my general experience, you were a s00per c00l d00de if you did it at the age of 15

I was one of the kids who followed rules and shit. Never understood the attraction to doing stupid shit.
in my experience that's kind of the age when most people did

Yes, but it's still a vice I try to avoid

Unlike you, who goes out of your way to judge the living shit out of anything that moves under the sun. Just live your OWN life, Christ
what if that is my life

what if judging people is my calling
to some people, that is their whole lives

reminds me of the 60s housewives who were so bored all day they had nothing to do but gossip about their friends and judge their neighbors

not a positive or rewarding life...but whatever, I do drugs to feel better, you can look down on others to feel better. But one of those only affects the individual.

Why is this such a big thread lol

Three things guarantee replies on this site:

1.) validation
2.) sex
3.) shitting on other people

Am I wrong?
don't forget picking arbitrary things to judge others on to feel better about yourself

I'm 1/3 through the book, waiting until I'm finished to see the show

Stephen King is actually working as a partner with JJ for the show, so I have high hopes

(book is kickass so far)

if I go out and pillage a town, it's just as bad in the year 200 as in the year 2000
I dunno, that 200AD village's enemy villages would probably be pretty happy that you did them a service.
So? Killing is killing. Suffering is suffering.

He was a monster, just like all war-mongers and conquerors.
Confirmed for knowing fucking nothing about Julius Caesar or Republican Rome at all.

This meme of projecting postmodern morality onto historical figures and events is ridiculous. You're talking about a man who essentially predates pacifism.

I want critical theory to get the fuck out of history.
Most people in the past were hideously immoral. Looking at it through that modifier doesn't excuse the swathes of brutality and injustice done to all sorts of innocent people. Pacifism isn't predated by anything, it's a goal that's embedded in the human experience. Those who choose to ignore it for their own gain aren't excused by what year they were born in.
