A woman was stopped at Beijing Capital International Airport for trying to carry a bottle of cognac worth £120 on the plane. I like this lady’s style.  I like it a lot.  Most people probably would’ve either thrown the bottle away or tried to find a way to mail it to themselves.  Not this lady.  She’s a right here, right now kind of person and she’ll be damned if she’s simply gonna light $200 on fire.  That cognac was getting on the plane.  Somehow some way.  Whether it be in the bottle or in her body.  Pretty fucked up of airport security to not let her on the plane after they issued her the challenge by saying she couldn’t bring liquids on the plane.  What choice did she have?  They basically told her she had to chug it (ya know, not really but kinda) and then wouldn’t let her get on the plane once she did it. That’s like some kind of sick joke. “Here, you have to get rid of this drinkable substance or you can’t get on the plane.  Oh you got rid of it? Well now you can’t get on the plane.”  It’s like an unsolvable riddle.  You said she couldn’t get on the plane with the bottle, she got rid of the bottle, now let her on the fucking plane.

so pretty much there's an episode where Picard and the gang are cruising along and they see this probe, and then it shines this light on Picard and he gets knocked out. And then he wakes up in this really primitive village and he's all confused right

so he talks to people asking where he is and all that shit, and they get freaked out and say something to the effect of "what are you talking about, you're our shaman, you've lived here your entire life." He argues with them and says he's a starship captain and all that, but they just say he was very sick and had a month long fever dream where he imagined the events of Star Trek: TNG

eventually Picard accepts this and realizes that he indeed just hallucinated that. He lives out the rest of his sixty years in the village, has a wife and kids and all that, and generally lives out an entire life. He learns to play the flute very well. In the closing days of his life, when he's like 96 or some shit, he lives to see his society learn the basic mechanics of space travel and send a probe up into space

but he wakes up right back on his ship and only like an hour has passed since he initially got knocked out. Instead of being relieved or happy, he's crippingly depressed and just wants to see his wife and kids again. He remembers everything about the life he just lived. He also finds the flute he learned how to play on his bedside dresser, somehow.

so the question is, what if your entire life turned out to be something like this?

If you think I misspelled the title, you're not alone. I doubt anyone here is affected by it, but there's this pretty interesting psychological phenomenon called the Mandela Effect which causes a large group of people to collectively remember something incorrectly. It's a new observation and still being studied pretty heavily, but I find it pretty interesting.

Apparently, a sizeable number of people explicitly remember Chick-Fil-A being spelled Chic-Fil-A at some point as well, even though it never has been.

Some are trying to use this as evidence to support the idea of multiple timelines, but I just see it as a mental effect.
