I mean, I'm doing all right in college and all that, but even being in the military for just like two years gives you benefits throughout your whole life. I could probably get the rest of my college paid off, at the very least.

Think of the meaning and imagery each of those examples immediately brings to mind. especially that last one...."A smile for the veil", the idea being that she's only pretending to be happy in pictures and appearances and such for the ability to get married (probably for financial, non-loving reasons itself) And that's just one line from the stanza no other stanza in songwriting is more densely packed with meaning while still flowing musically as well
