You're in a plane and some terrorists hijack it or whatever and you go down. You land in the middle of an ocean but you can see the faint shape of an island in the distance. Everything on the plane died except a sterile old man who has cancer, a pregnant dog, and a pregnant cat. Also, a locked crate full of rold gold and rc colas is there.
You only have one wind spell, so which thing do you choose to grab? The plane is sinking so you can't like come back and get something else.

Lee Everett is a fantastic character, in his design. The kind of games Telltale makes really have a kind of inherent paradox: character-driven and choice-driven. For something to be character driven, the character has to be heavily developed and strong, with identifiable traits, opinions, and goals. A game where you alone determine what the character does would seemingly invalidate that, make you a stand-in for the character instead of making the character someone in his own right. But Lee averts that. He has plenty of character traits and motivations (love for Clementine, brave, modest, amicable, leadership) that make him an everyman, even when the player can make him go down the path they choose. But the secret is in somehow making every available choice in character for him. Even the most violent, immoral, brutal choice a player can make is handled in a way that makes it feel like something Lee would do. I don't know, it's just rare to see such a strong character in a game where the player decides the plot. He's more or less the same person in every playthrough, but there's still so many different meaningful choices you can make. "Interactive movies" meme aside, Telltale is great at script design.

if anyone breathe a word or the edge of a word about what happened, I will come to you in the black of some terrible night, and I will bring with me a pointy reckoning that will shudder you! And you know I can do it. I have seen some reddish work done at night. And I can make you wish you had never seen the sun go down.

Things that will be remembered as classics in the centuries to come, like Shakespeare or Mozart. When people talk about "turn of the millenium classics", they'll really be talking about anything from the 80s to five years from now, but what things from our time (within the past ten years) do you think will be on that list?
I think
Breaking Bad Dark Knight trilogy Minecraft (not that it's worth all the hype) Game of Thrones

Breaking Bad spoilers here and in this entire thread Jane's death in Breaking Bad is seen as neccesary and unimportant to most viewers, which is straight up disgusting. It's literally the most tragic death in the whole show, and forever changes the dynamic between Walt and Jesse. Any humorous or heartwarming moment between the two from there on out is understatedly tinged, and any sympathy Jesse gives to Walt is given to a monster unbeknownst to him. I just watched "Fly", and I can't help but wish in vain that Walt confesses to Jesse in that episode. He came so close.
Anyway, what parts of television do you think deserve more attention than what they got?

I know only a few people here watch this show, but it really is great. Season 3 is getting excellent reviews, people like Stephen King and William Shatner are fans, and the plot arcs are some of the best I've seen in television. The new episode was a huge one. Even with that plot stalling but inevitable distraction in the midde of it, the whole of the episode moved us forward in the plot immensely. Sinclair wtf show
get your shit together no Kane no Abby neither one was here, really strange
also, third episode into Pikewatch and still no sign of him The long-waited Murphy and Jaha reunion/confrontation scene was amazing Man in hood steps forward
grounder queen: What do you want?
Man in hood throws off his hood
Jaha: Only to give you what you need
Murphy: Son of a bitch last ten seconds were literally perfect, I'd make that my new avatar right now if it weren't so on the nose

This is something that I've been thinking about while playing Fallout 4. Obviously, no book has a "silent protagonist"; the protagonist is always a well defined character with set motivations, flaws, etc. This is the root of any character based story.
But with writing video games, you're not just telling a story, you're letting the player themselves discover the story through their perspective as a character in it. Since the player controls a central figure in the plot, developers have two choices: allow the player to legitimately feel like part of the story, like they themselves have agency and weight within it, or to merely allow the player to control a pre-defined character. Both have obvious advantages and disadvantages, the latter generally allowing for a more concisely told experience, the former allowing for a more immersive one. These two things are mutually exclusive because no two players are the same. For the main character to be an immersive one, they need to have as little personal traits as possible, so the player can attach their real life traits to them.
So, in terms of what you want out of a video game, what do you think is the better approach?

A post on the internet sums up why the NCR is really the best Fallout faction (except for perhaps the Brotherhood): Compared to everything else out there the NCR are damn near a utopia. They are democratic, actually democratic compared to pre-War USA, egalitarian with equal rights for women, ghouls and even some super mutants, appears to have rebuilt the majority of California to 19th-century standards by the time of New Vegas and from the looks of it are too big to destroy.
Now, I know what y'all are gonna say: They are expansionist, stretching their resources too thin, highly tax their citizenry and throw soldiers at the enemy like they're orcs. So let met ask this: Got a better idea? The New California Republic apparently want to restore the former United States to its old glory, and the way I see it this is the only reasonable way to do so. In order to gain more resources for reconstruction you have to expand, in order to expand you need a powerful military and in order to have a powerful military you need high taxes. If the NCR citizens don't like the taxes they can just join the army or leave. If they would suddenly abandon these goals their resources would run out back home, leaving infrastructure cracked and charred for the foreseeable future, and would also allow their enemies to muster on the other side of the Colorado - which brings me to my second point:
The NCR has to expand fast or else risk the Legion growing stronger. Get this: If the NCR hadn't started expanding to New Vegas, the Legion would've arrived, conquered Hoover Dam and Vegas and would be nigh-unstoppable once they reach New Cali. It was by luck that the NCR managed to halt Caesar's conquests when they got there, which eventually resulted in House reigniting his master plan.
So my points are: The NCR wants what's best for the world, and the best requires making a few sacrifices - non-lethal ones, mind you. If I were living in New Vegas and had to choose between an evil, slave-running totalitarian empire, a technocratic, plutocratic dictator or an egalitarian democracy with some corruption and expansionist issues, I wouldn't hesitate a second: NCR all the way. Your thoughts?

Fallout, The 100 (where my avatar comes from), Chappie, Portal, etc. It seems like AI plotlines and stories are becoming a lot more overused in fiction these days.
Not that this is a bad thing, though. I'd much rather have AIs oversaturate the market than zombies or superheroes.
