its right up your alley
Okay, I just watched the first episode.

This is a show about a couple of degenerates in a fantasy setting who go from brothel to brothel to fuck as many anthropomorphic animal girls and monster girls as possible, posting reviews about their experiences all the while. It's surprisingly explicit, even for an ecchi show, but it's all just supposed to be funny, I guess. There's a lot of epic gamer jokes thrown in to appeal to the nerdy RPG crowd, and absolutely nothing is taken seriously (as one would hope).

Clearly, this is one of those "take it or leave it" kind of shows, where it's pretty much as enjoyable as you want it to be. If you're a 12-year-old zoomer, you'll find the show hilarious. If you're a normie, you'll be confused and disturbed. If you're a porn addict, then it's probably too boring and vanilla for you, but you'll masturbate to it anyway, because an orgasm is an orgasm. If you're a feminist, it will disgust and offend you.

Shows like this, where you can accurately predict exactly how certain types of people will react to them just by reading off the premise, are extremely fucking boring to me, because there's very little room for discussion. You either like the show because it gets your rocks off, or you don't because it doesn't. There's virtually no way to dissuade someone from watching a show like this if they've already latched themselves onto the premise, and on the same token, there's virtually no way to persuade someone like me into believing it has any merit or value whatsoever.

The fact that the show doesn't try to be anything more than what it is is somewhat respectable, but that's not something I feel inclined to give it any points for—nor do I feel inclined to give it points for anything else. I won't complain about how asinine the plot is, because that's the whole point—but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Naturally, this extends to the characters as well, who are all dogshit.

The art style is atrocious, which is a big problem in a show that's trying to be sexually titillating, and for a comedy, it's not even a little bit funny. I can only laugh at the idea that any of the show's jokes are supposed to be funny—and if that's the intent, I still don't consider that a good thing, because it's a kind of laughter that comes from a place of annoyance and exasperation and hatred, rather than a place of genuine enjoyment or appreciation.

A person who enjoys a show like this is a person I will never understand.

0/10

take THAT, shitty japanese cartoon that i don't have to watch

Dude, what's your book about?
it's like an anti-coming of age story about the struggle for a small town introvert to grow up, be an adult, and connect with the modern world, told primarily through a series of quiet and ephemeral moments on the bus during his various commutes

not the most exciting premise in the world, but it's supposed to be a very raw and moody and psychologically troubling story that doesn't really do a lot for you on a moment-to-moment basis, but sticks in your head long after you've finished reading it, and makes you wanna take a long cold shower aftewards (or just cry)

it's basically looking like a fictionalized autobiography at this point, but i'm working on introducing elements that stray from my own personal experience, which is challenging yet fulfilling
Am I in it?
i could probably work you in somewhere

on a weird impulse, i considered buying some kind of drawing device and learning how to draw, just to develop some other dumbass worthless skill, if only to say that i have two of them

but that's a lot of money to spend on something that might be a waste of time and effort (not unlike anything else, though)

besides video games, this'll give me a bit more time to make some headway on my book

i've been having up-and-down periods with it lately, where i'm thinking either "this is gonna be the greatest book ever written" or "wow literally nobody is going to read this let alone enjoy it lmao" which sucks but that's the way it be

if it ends up being a failure, and i struggle to do anything else in life and die a loser because all i know how to do is write, i'm glad that it won't be entirely my fault, because the world is sort of falling apart right now anyway (even after coronavirus clears up, we're still getting four more years of trump)

Can someone tell me why people are panic buying toilet roll? The virus doesn't even give you the shits.

Is it because of some misinformed boomer Facebook post that's been making the rounds?
so that people don't run out in the event of a quarantine

or at least, that's the idea

why are american cartoons always so hideous
because america is still under the impression that cartoons are supposed to be funny (if not exclusively for children), and that part of being funny is having a goofy artstyle

i don't think the artstyle is that bad, but the comedic aspect of bojack does tend to be a detriment to the show imo

i literally just want the harrowing depressive shit, and i certainly get a lot of that, but it's too often undercut by some pretty lame and family guy-esque jokes that i don't understand how people can tolerate

like, i get that it's there to provide balance and shit, and to make the dramatic stuff hit even harder when it does happen, but there's only so many dumb sex/drug jokes, pop culture references, and political agenda-pushing that i can handle (even when i wholeheartedly agree with everything the writers have to say about society/politics/celecrity culture; i just need shows to have more than Topical Dialogue Containing Messages That I Agree With to truly love it)

Entire Metal Gear series (i've only beaten the original MSX2 game)
Entire Kingdom Hearts series (because i fucking hate myself)
Entire Final Fantasy series (at least up to VII anyway, so i can feel at least somewhat hype for the remake)
Entire Persona series (still need to beat the first one because it sucks giant donkey balls)
Chrono Trigger
Fallout 1 & 2
i still wanna beat everything available on the NES and SNES emulator service for NSO

oh, and Nier

If I'm being frank here, lovecraft sounds like a pretentious prick in that quotation. If I'm wrong, it's too bad he's not around to explain why I've known plenty of dogs that'll pester you to play fetch on their own accord or just look at you like a stump on some days when they don't feel like playing anything. Unless the only viable explanation is that lovecraft only ever met dumb dogs in his life.
i think it's funny (as someone who generally hate dogs, too)

but i mean, lovecraft also named his cat "Nigger Man," so there's that

Gaming / Re: Why Is Dark Souls II So Bad?
« on: February 24, 2020, 01:12:48 AM »
I'm pretty sure magic is so shunned because in some instances it's plain broken with no fair counter. At least in the original dark souls, a dark bead sorcery build could oneshot 95% of players in pvp scenarios, and there was little to counter it. Various other wombo combos emerged throughout the games as well, although it seems like magic was tougher to utilize in III.
i've never really dabbled with magic before, but it's my understanding that magically-resistant armor is a thing, and that spells usually take a long time to charge up + they're susceptible to rolling anyway

i assume, if you're right, that those three counters just aren't good enough for some reason? which would be unfortunate, and i can sort of understand looking down on those who allow themselves to be carried by OP strategies

but at the same time, when it comes to pvp, i tend to have a very "anything goes" ethos, as long as you're not cheating

it sucks, but if anyone doesn't like it, they can play a game that's designed around pvp, like a fighting game or something
