To be fair I used to do 'high-effort posting' as you describe, and that's what I was thinking of when I used the term, but it's probably the wrong term to use for this discussion broadly.
My point is that it really isn't worth doing anything besides pasting news stories because the discussion value on this board is so low. Hell, even posting the news is barely worth doing. And, like Challenger said, we all pretty much know where the others stand, and if we don't we could probably make an educated guess.
See, every thread I post is a work of art. So, even if nobody else appreciates it, that doesn't mean that I can't. I sit there for a minute, marveling at what I just typed like Brent Rambo, and that's really enough to make it worth it for me. I like hearing myself talk. Clearly, not everybody's the same way, but perhaps if more people were, we'd have a little more activity.

Typing a couple paragraphs explaining your thoughts on the matter isn't what I'd call a highly-demanding exertion of effort. Maybe it's because I love to write, and I love having hard-line opinions on everything, but calling that sort of thing "high effort posting" speaks volumes to me of your unwillingness to exert even the minimum effort, which is really all that's being asked of you.
High-effort posting would involve taking a few days to vigorously research the topic before typing a lengthy, thorough response coupled with several links to the various sources you've gathered, all the while formulating your own personal appraisal of the matter in a carefully-constructed mode of persuasion. It also involves formatting the post, making it look aesthetically pleasing, while cutting some of it down to make it more succinct, yet digestible, without compromising the message.
Not to mention proofreading, making sure every single word is chosen with the utmost deliberation.
That's high-effort posting, and nobody is asking you to do that.

how is water not wet?
Water can't be wet. It can wet things, but it's water. You can't wet water. It's already water.
add more water to water
you have just wetted water
it's just a higher volume of water
hence, it's wetter
it's water
You can get wet from water, you can't wet water. It's already water.
water is covered in water and is therefore wet by definition
if you're talking about a single H2O molecule, then sure, that's not wet
it just mixes; doesn't get wet
that it mixes proves that it gets wet
it's a liquid; its moisture remains the same if you keep adding more from the same source
that doesn't mean it's not wet

add more water to water you have just wetted water something that was already wet in the first place--now it's even more wet

But have you died because of a minor error?
why do you assume that me personally dying is the only thing i'm worried about
Have you torn half off your skin off and spent three months in a medically induced coma because of a slight error in misapplying counter-steer after a blind corner and an approaching semi-truck scared the shit out of you?
oh, are you implying that this sort of thing can only happen on a motorcycle
because you'd be wrong
I mean... you're not gonna push right trying to lean further and end up going left because you're not leaning but rather turning the handlebars right which in an already right lean means your turning the front tire in to less of a lean angle and therefore coaxing the bike out of your lean and in to a straightening direction directly in to the grille of the semi that you were frantically trying to avoid in a car.
i mean, does it really matter how you hit the semi though
i think it's gonna be bad either way
It does matter, if your going to hit something, there's certain angles or sides that offer more protection from the force of the crash. It's also up to the car itself
i'm just saying, no crash is a good crash
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. If you can use the plane the next day, it's an outstanding landing. - Chuck Yeager.
tell that to my deductible

When verb ignored the genuine response you wrote for him
sorry, i just don't really have much of a response i appreciate your words, but to be honest, there just wasn't a lot there that i haven't already been told, you know what i'm saying? i didn't just start feeling this way last week, you know people tell me that i always have this combative way of speaking, even if i'm not trying to be--like, if someone's trying to give me some advice, my first response is usually "yeah but..." and i go on to explain why i don't necessarily agree with their perspective or whatever people don't seem to like it when you do that so i usually just shut my mouth--it's a respect thing, i don't wanna waste your time with my depressive ass

Where are you in college right now? Have you moved past the more basic courses to more specialized subjects, or is that you're not quite sure what it is you want to pursue yet? It might just be that you need to take a break for a semester or two, removing the stress of schoolwork could help you sort things out. i'm in a financial position where i'm only able to take one or two classes per semester, because that's all i can afford so i'm still taking basic courses, and at this rate, i probably won't even graduate until 2030 if i take a semester off, my parents are going to force me to move out immediately, which i'm not ready for I can get why you'd be terrified of driving, have you ever considered practising late at night when there's basically no one on the road? I'm not sure what your specific issue with driving is beyond you finding it terrifying, but it would hopefully be less stressful with needing less motorists you'd need to keep watch for.
yes, i have--believe me, i've tried everything

Conversely, if you like Mortal Kombat 4's endings you will love Berserk 2016
i thought i've made my disdain for berserk pretty clear tbh
You're missing out on some radical CG-skeleton action bro.
As well as the greatest sound design of all time in any medium ever
okay, this might actually be tolerable if i watch it as a comedy
I think Berserk takes itself too seriously to be unintentionally comedic... most of the time
how do you mean
It's a story about a grizzled, chiseled dude out for revenge, killing demons with a giant sword steeped in his hatred and the residual enmity of his fallen foes (of which there are many, mind you).
yeah but, that clip was still hilarious
