i've decided i'm gonna play persona 1 after i finish dark souls

because it's the ONE persona game that nobody has ever told me to play, so naturally, i'm gonna play it

shitty thing about that is i'll be playing the stupid burgerized version of the game, because i cannot speak japanese, oh well
PSP version isn't burgerized.
is it a port of the original japanese version with translations, or is it like, a total remake
Moore player friendly menus, better ost, overworld, content that was left out of the US version (Snow Queen Route), etc. It's the Japanese game + a few updates to make it less PS1-y.
ehhh, i'll go with whatever i can find that's cheaper i suppose

i dunno if all of that is worth putting up with the PSP's clunkiness and shitty screen again
They're both on PSN, so neither is "hard" to find. Cheapest physical for Revelations: Persona is like $60 compared to P1's $20 is a big difference, though, as well as P1 being more likely to randomly find somewhere.
oh, that's actually perfect

how come they took out an entire route? i never heard about this
Laziness, iirc. Didn't want to translate it.
that's pretty sad

someone's telling me i never would've found it on my own anyway

the universe has no opinion
put the tweed down
not an argument
The universe isn't an argument, Stefan.
the argument is that there is no objective standard for what is better or worse when it comes to how human beings perceive things

it's all in our head

how the fuck could anything regarding anything possibly be objective
So suffering isn't objectively bad?
we're talking about art

Probably because it's not an opinion and it's a fact?
If it were a fact, then I couldn't possibly disagree with it.
You disagree with a lot of facts.
give me one reason to believe that PC graphics are objectively better than anything else
Quote
having more detailed textures
i may like more detailed textures, but why is that objectively better
More detailed > less detailed
why
Because it looks better. Just like putting the settings on ultra instead of very low.
why does it look better
YouTube

You tell me
i already agree that more detail is better, because that's my personal taste

what i'm not understanding is how it's objectively better

which means that you believe that anyone who prefers less detail is wrong
If you prefer this over this then you have no right to talk about graphics and details.
i can totally see why someone would prefer the first one

personally, i prefer the second one, and most other people would

but objectively speaking, neither is "better" or "worse" than the other--the universe has no opinion

Not sure that's correct. People disagree with factually correct information all the time.
NOT ME

in seriousness, the idea is that he hasn't given me sufficient reason--at all--to believe this apparent "fact"

i'm just supposed to automatically nod my head agree like a lapdog to the notion and bow down to PC for having more detailed textures, as if detail is the be-all-end-all for graphical quality, etc. etc.

That kinda skews the whole argument.

"No one would willing eat dog shit."

"Herp derp, I'm eating shit rn just to prove my point."
I mean, I wouldn't have to eat dogshit to prove that some people would eat it. There's far crazier shit on the Internet.

How would that skew the argument anyway? Do you just not like being proved wrong?
Doing something you wouldn't normally do, specifically to prove a point, isn't an accurate way to defend your argument.
In general, I can kinda see what you mean, but in this specific case, why not?
If you never had this argument would you build a game specifically for inferior hardware?
I've played with the idea for a few years, yeah. Not just with games--I just extend the principle to all art.

I've played games like Battle Kid, which was released in 2010 and designed solely for the old-school Nintendo. I've seen silent films like The Artist, which was made in 2011. I've heard lots and lots of lo-fi records that don't use state-of-the-art recording technology. I've seen abstract art exhibits where it's just a bunch of broken junk piled up on a mat.

Once it became clear to me that art doesn't have to utilize the best technology in the world, that's when I started coming up with my own ideas--which is not to say that I don't plan on ever making "high-effort" art in my life, but it really expands your whole artistic universe when you come to this realization.

It's just objectively better hardware. End of story.
Wrong

the irony here is that people are always accusing me of treating my opinions as though they're facts--something i never do, yet people call me on it ALL the time

yet here you are, treating your opinion as if it's a fact, and nobody gives a fuck

it's pretty great

I have an excellent theory on why the Nazis were correct.

Hypotheticals are only worth discussing if they planned to be implemented. I don't see anyone putting your hypothetical in to practice.
i mean, i only gave like thirty million examples in this one thread

including myself--i'd make a game that is designed to be run on shitty hardware just to prove my own point

Caveats my friend caveats. Chally is right 100% of the time barring your one nonsensical hypothetical.

my hypotheticals are not only completely sensible, they're also very simple to understand
