I mean, ask yourself this: Why aren't there any shields in Bloodborne? It's a function that many would've liked, but it definitely ruins the gameplay and point of the game. Heck, they even make fun of the one wooden shield in the game on it's description.
Shields aren't a fundamental requirement for a video game. And yes, I consider pause features a requirement for all games. It's as essential as a power button.

Pausing the game ruins the feel of the game No, it doesn't, and if for whatever reason it ruins the feel of the game for you, no one is forcing you to use the feature. It's just there for your convenience, and the game would be better off for it. But you don't HAVE to pause if you don't want to. A person shouldn't give up their own well to that extent just to enjoy the game. If you need a pause from the game, I think turning it off is better than having the whole world stop for your sake. It's the same exact thing, but one is just more tedious and annoying.

It comes back to that thing I heard about where there was rumours or somethinh about a casual/ easy mode being added to DS and everyone flipped shit even though it wouldn't effect them in any way, shape or form.
yeah, dark souls fans are the absolute worst the game is just untouchable for whatever reason—all of its flaws are actually strong points, and if you DARE suggest that they don't actually play to the game's strengths, you're just a casual who needs to get good (even if the issue in question has nothing to do with game skill) i mean, i really love the game, but bad design is bad design—and the game has its fair share of it

if dark souls had a pause feature, i easily would've had it beaten by now, easily
i would've had it beaten a year ago
but no, like carson said, i have to set aside time to play this game—something i don't have to do for any other game, but dark souls is different and therefore flawless and special, and we absolutely can't change it for the better because people are pissbabies about it

If you disagree with the feel the developers want you to have when playing the game, you shouldn't be so adamant on hating mods. that makes me more adamant about my hatred of mods, actually, because it shouldn't be left up to the community to fix a game's problems
It's not a problem
it's a problem that the game punishes me for having other things to do with my life
it's one of those things that makes me want to play the game less so i don't even have to worry about it
great game design
It's your problem, not mine. I don't have things to do with my life. Just 'cause you have problems, doesn't mean I should see a reduction in the game's quality.
how does giving the player more options reduce the game's quality especially when quitting the game is still a thing, it's just a bit more tedious why aren't you against that feature? wouldn't the game be 20x better if it strapped you to your chair until you beat it in one sitting?

when played offline, dark souls should have a pause feature—yes or no
Spoiler the correct answer is yes nah
One of the components of Dark Souls is unavoidable danger (even within the locations of fires, if you haven't shaken the trail of your hazardous followera). The inability to pause meshes with that.
or you could just not pause if you really value that aspect
sometimes life happens, and i just have to go for a couple seconds, and the game shouldn't punish me for that
what about your obsession with developer intent
they obviously want you to treat it as an experience you set time aside for
just because i value developer intent doesn't mean i can't have my disagreements even if you set aside time for the game, again—sometimes life happens

when played offline, dark souls should have a pause feature—yes or no
Spoiler the correct answer is yes No, dude, just GET GOOD xD
i can already just select "quit game" if i need to stop playing, which is more of a hassle, but the absence of such a basic video game mechanic has always been one of my biggest gripes with the game anyone who doesn't want a pause button can simply just not pause if they don't want to—or just play online, where the feature would be disabled for obvious reasons

god comes down from the sky and tells you that everything you enjoy is objectively bad, and you'd be a happier person if you liked different things
how do you respond
I try to like different things, duh
Does God stay around long enough to ask questions of that are relevant to the situation?
does god tell you what's good? no, he immediately leaves
i made a thread a long time ago asking this question and most people said they'd either be conflicted or indignant
If an objective source of morality descended from the sky, I would do my best to match it lol
Do I know which God came from the sky?
you do not; you don't even know if it was really god or anybody with clout whatsoever
but it was a giant man in the sky telling you what's what, so signs point to him being some kind of god
Well, that's even more fishy
Do I at least get a good look at him so that I can get a good idea of which God he might be?
sure, though i'm not sure if god's appearance is ever really described in any holy books as much as i've criticized the bible i should probably read it myself, huh

challenging questions are hard
my mind always defaults to variations of "would you do this embarrassing thing for x reward"
how do you feel about that
slightly inadequate god comes down from the sky and tells you that everything you enjoy is objectively bad, and you'd be a happier person if you liked different things how do you respond

Also, please don't ask "easy" questions
Challenge me
can you describe the last time you wanted to kill somebody in detail
I wanted to slam on my breaks yesterday night (June 10th) when someone was tailgating me, and I wouldn't have at all regretted it if they died in the crash. Well, I would have, but only for the fact that it would have damaged my car.
Besides that, I generally don't feel murderous; usually, the extent is calling 911/my boss on someone out of spite.
that didn't seem very challenging
how do you mean challenging
my bad
The guy rode my ass for a mile or two; I thought about slamming on my brakes, getting into a serious car wreck, calling 911, and then watching his near-dead body be loaded into an ambulance. I imagined some unsaved number notifying me that he had passed away due to injury, and that I was cleared of any involvement due to it clearly being the result of his own wrongdoing.
Then I gave him the bird, and slowed from 50mph to 45mph to match the speed limit since he wanted to be such an aggressive asshole.
better what is your solution to the prisoner's dilemma

You're at least playing P1 on PSP, right

tfw a thread about yourself has devolved into a thread about the semantics of discrimination
would you rather become a militant vegan or a third wave feminist
this question has a right and wrong answer
i like to think that applies to all of my questions
