I just think you're missing out.
think about it this way

why even get hype for new games anymore

you can just mod games to play however you want, right
Mods modify the existing content of a game. Hence the word mod. It's not new tech (mostly), or a new engine, or anything that has the amount of money a new game would have pumped into it.

Otherwise it wouldn't be called a mod. That's why.
but do most people only play new games for the new technology?

well i don't, it makes no difference to me

Even if she meant it literally, that she wanted all her money to disappear and live a completely normal life, there would be NOTHING wrong with that. Boo hoo, you're not rich. That doesn't give every rich person an obligation to stay rich.

Literally the same logic I'd use to be "against" FtM trans people, except even I can recognize that the disdain there is illogical and rooted in emotion. Which, surprise, is the same as the anti-wealth sentiment.
No celebrity ever wants to live a normal life. It's just them bullshitting their way to the top of the headlines for TMZ and other media outlets that focus on famous people.
define "normal"

i'm sure tons of celebrities would prefer to live a comfortable, stress-free life where the spotlight isn't constantly on them

in fact, some celebrities are fortunate enough to lead lives like that already

Haven't seen that. I liked him in Valkyrie and TLS, although I don't remember much about either films.
well it's based on some light novel so that means you have to see it

it was well-received too

Actually, might makes right refers to the idea that if I can dominate you physically, I also dominate you ideologically. It can be applied on a national, social, or individual scale.

But words and phrases, you know, evolve, and it's apt and clever to use it as "if I can dominate you by majority opinion, I also dominate you ideologically."
is this it

is this what people mean when they say "mental gymnastics"

You're making a point, which is a board of an argument.

Argument [2]: a reason or set of reasons given with the aim of persuading others that an action or idea is right or wrong.

The argument "your fly is down" is trying to either a) persuade others that the action of pulling it up is right, if you're trying to help; or b) persuade others that the idea that it's down is embarassing, if you're not.

There's a reason why statements in coding are called "arguments".
holy fuck

If it didn't matter, it wouldn't be worth pointing out.
sure it is

i point out everything, it's what i do

When people confuse objective with subjective, drink.
the people who you think do this don't actually do this

the people who you don't think do this actually do it

Maybe I should have cut out the second half so illiterates didn't jump on it, but to be clear: I'm referring to the first definition.

I literally always use literally correctly because I literally respect the literal definition of the word

when something is literally overused, it literally doesn't mean it's misused
i don't disagree, but the point is, it's BEST used when what you're saying would have otherwise been considered figurative, hyperbolic, or metaphorical

not mundane shit

8053
Might makes right is argumentum ad populum, just worded in a less pretentious way.
wrong

might makes right is the principle that the physically strong have moral precedence over the weak

something i vehemently disagree with

the not-pretentious way to say "argumentum ad populum" is "appeal to majority"

might makes right is a completely separate thing, because it states that one physically strong man has moral priority over a hundred physically WEAK men, just because they cannot defend themselves against the stronger man
Quote
And you literally just made that argument lmao, "pointing out" something is making an argument.
no, it isn't

if i point out that your fly is down, i'm not making an argument, i'm pointing it out to embarrass you
Quote
Again, why does it matter if I'm disagrees with? That has no bearing on the truth.
it doesn't, but it's still worth pointing out

Every time someone uses the word "literally" incorrectly.
So never?

I can literally take pictures when I go on friday if you want fam

Literally

Maybe "take a shot every time the word literally is overused", but not misused lol
when the dictionary has the word "informal" in the definition, that basically means "this is WRONG but people say it like this anyway, but it's still wrong"

8055
Key difference is that while a show like Breaking Bad might employ violence to further the plot/characters, it's never glorified or glamorized. The violence is always presented in a negative light.

Your avatar straight up romanticized graphic violence against the president. Apples and oranges.
i mean i explained rather plainly how it didn't, and nobody disagreed but you
lmao is the fallacy crusader literally trying to say might makes right
...no?

"might makes right" is probably the dumbest aphorism in the entire book, and it has nothing to do with what i said

the argument that you THINK i'm making is actually an argumentum ad populum, appeal to majority

but i'm not arguing from that, i'm simply pointing out that the majority of people disagree with you

the only reason i don't have the avatar now isn't because my avatar broke the rules (which is why i wasn't banned or warned), but because cheat decided that it was time to put harsher restrictions on avatars anyway

i will never understand verb's weird crusade against mods
ultimately it boils down to "i enjoy playing games this way, so i will encourage other people to do the same"

when you use mods, there's a sense of untainted purity that you just lose forever

you people look at gaming more as an entertainment medium, whereas i view it in the way that challenger described it—as a static painting that shouldn't be touched by anybody but the original artist

not only do you get all the developers' intentions, you also get their mistakes, which i consider an essential part of the overall experience—if all you're looking to have is fun, then you care less about gaming as an art form than i do

what i don't understand is why my perspective is so viscerally disagreeable to people

8059
You can watch people succeed, suffer, die, win, and lose without anyone actually getting hurt.
pretty sure you tried claiming that i was a bad person for finding entertainment in fictional violence the other day bucko

the company doesn't care
That's the problem

Modders are the #1 reason why I would never make a game. It would suck to make a piece of art only for people to piss all over it. It's an insult. Just because other companies don't care doesn't mean that I can't for them.
That's the thing about games, they're not static art like a painting is. They can change and improve, that's where modding comes in.
every artistic medium has its follies and this is video games'

Well, I'm looking forward to it. But that's just me. Sony Santa Monica is a good group. They know what they're doing. Though I would have much rather seen their new IP than a new God of War. Unfortunately it was cancelled.
the kid also looks extremely annoying and i don't understand how kratos is gonna put up with his shit

also the jump into norse mythology is just weird—i'm no lore expert on this series, but where were the norse gods up until this point? why was there such a big spit about kratos having killed ALL the gods, when he apparently didn't, because every god from every existing mythology ALSO exists in the god of war universe?

the milking of the cash cow just seems too blatant to me

isnt it a lot like castlevania?
Other way around.
the two pretty much released at the same time. i'd say they were more a product of their era than either of them taking after the other.
Yeah, but Castlevania didn't start taking Metroid's ideas until Symphony of the Night (the original Metroidvania) until three years after Super Metroid dropped. That's where the perception of the two being similar comes from.

Oh I see. It's the "it's not a game it's a movie" argument. Fair enough. Some like it, some don't, it's a bit of a stretch to call it that. Point and click adventure games which have been around forever give you even less control.
who are you talking to

what are you talking about
Your response to me about God of War.
that wasn't the argument he was making at all though

the key points in his rant were
- god of war is a dated benchmark franchise that was good and innovative ONLY in its era
- more god of war games do not need to be made after 3 because it's stale and unimpressive now
- the only way to make a new god of war would be to steal ideas from another successful franchise
- they did exactly that by using the Last of Us as a model, and the IP suffers as a result

it won't suffer in terms of sales figures but the game looks just as dull as Days Gone if not duller

it has nothing to do with it being more cinematic, even though that is a negative aspect

Nintendo is essentially modding the game and charging you money.
good
Quote
Some guy that makes a Link or Master Chief mod on PC does it for free.
bad
Do you have a real reason to say this?
Nintendo has the right to charge money for their own IPs.

Some random faggot with a computer doesn't, not even for free. Simple as that.
What?
I don't think I could've said it more clearly.
How do you charge money for free?
I never said that. I said "even for free." As in, fuck you if you mod anything without authorization.
