I like to think I'm an optimist when it comes to movies, and the fact that Hollywood isn't doing the butchering this time helps with that.
If it were a series instead of a film, it might have had the slimmest of chances.

There is NONE, ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER of this being good.

Currently, our custom username, avatar, title, and nameplate fields are inexplicably spread out over three separate pages—Account Settings, Forum Profile, and Look & Layout. This is extremely disorganized, so perhaps they should all be filed under one singular category to streamline the customization process, on top of adding a preview function.

https://apps.quanticfoundry.com/lab/gamerprofile/reposting from bungLe try not to sperg out and take it too seriously mine happens to be painfully accurate (remember to check your secondary motivations) especially this part, jeez: also, you can let it recommend you games—remember to set release date to "all" and to include niche games the first ten things that were recommended to me: Smash 4 Street Fighter IV Tekken Xenoblades Chronicles Chrono Chross Final Fantasy IV, of all things Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Persona 2: Innocent Sin Pokémon Sun & Moon Fire Emblem Fates and 86 other games

If possible, please minimize the slowdown that comes from having multiple YouTube videos on one page, or make it so the video doesn't actually load until you click the tag.
This might be a bit much to ask, but an image resize tool would be cool. It would be like
or however would be the most efficient way to do it, and make it so images can only be shrunken and not expanded (to prevent spam abuse).
i also second LC's request for webm support

None, I don't like describing games that way. Good games are good games.
yeah but sometimes a game series is known for a certain story telling style or genre and it kinda betrays what the series stands for
I've never played a game that made me feel that way. I know you're talking about Metal Gear, but even then, it's hard for me to imagine caring that much. Gameplay is so much more important to me than anything else.
yeah but even then, the gameplay could be a department from what the series is known for
I welcome departures with open arms, as long as they end up being good. If they end up being bad, then it's a bad game—case closed. But Zelda II was a huge departure from the first game, yet I still consider it not only a great game, but a great Zelda game. I don't divorce games from their franchises just because they're radically different. I only divorce games from their franchises if they end up sucking complete ass, like Metroid: Other M.

Using a spear seems easy though. You just hide behind a shield and poke away.
Just like using a big sword seems easy to me—one good swing, and a huge chunk of their health rips away. All weapons have their advantages that make them good.

Moving fast with no shield is what makes the combat thrilling to me.
That's cool, I just prefer to take things slow. Though, come to think of it, I hope that doesn't make the boss videos less fun to watch.

Isn't that kind of boring?
Not at all, it's great. I like having a signature weapon.
I could ask you if using a Claymore gets boring, because I certainly would. I just don't see the appeal.
Like I said the move set is one of the best. You can stab like a spear, the heavy attacks are really damaging, and the normal attacks are fast enough to be on the move.
Weapons that are the "best" tend to be extremely uninteresting to me. I like being disadvantaged in a few ways, because it forces me to work around them and play smarter. Be creative.

Shields are for wussies
What about katanas? Do you just use a shield and spear?
>katanas do i look like some kind of weeb to you And yeah, I've used a shield and spear throughout pretty much the whole game so far, but I'm gonna start playing around with different stuff when I reach the Catacombs—either the scimitar, falchion, or longsword.

Also the Hornet ring boosting criticals is for backstabs, riposting after a parry, that sort of thing.
Ohhh, okay, cool. That's the shitty thing about using a greatshield—they synergize well with spears, but I can't parry anymore.

Why aren't you two handing the Claymore? It's easily the best sword fully leveled up and using charcoal or gold pine resin. Shields are for babies.
You're not a baby are you?
I really dislike two-handed swords, and don't find them fun at all. Shields are pretty dope. If I ever want to fantasize about having a tiny penis, I'll try out the Zweihander.

Counter damage meaning hitting an enemy who's mid attack and interrupting them. Thrusting weapons are good at this, they tend to have more counter damage.
Also hitting enemies with the sweet spot with long weapons deals more damage. You don't wanna be right up close and hitting them with the shaft, needs to be spaced properly so just the blade / spike hits. I can't remember if this in the first game, or if they added it in 2, but it's still worth spacing enemies properly anyway
I'm thinking that must be a II thing—I'm rather well-acquainted with my weapon and its kit at this point, and I haven't noticed any damage differences between hitting with the shaft vs. the blade. But you're right, spacing is still important. Spacing was particularly difficult with this boss, given how he's constantly leaping all over the place.
