there's a weird 3D fighting game for the PS1 called ehrgeiz
for some reason, not only is it a fighting game, it also comes with a somewhat basic dungeon crawler called the Forsaken Dungeon, and for someone who's not a big fan of dungeon crawlers, it was strangely addicting
but you had to pay money to save, and the amount you pay increases the more you level up
so if you didn't have enough to save, you were just fucked—i've never seen anything like that before
