The only people that are gonna be eating shit are the developers when they make a boring game nobody wants to play.
Videogames have to be fun because the developers want money for their hard work. Nobody has this raging boner for artistic integrity like you do, they want to make fun games for people to enjoy and they want money for it. Everybody wins.
then what they should've done is made a good remake
why do they have to package in the original, that's just dumb
Ok we're in violent agreement lmao I never said otherwise I was just asking why the developer's feelings should be more important that what people want
that's what i was saying, you completely just missed the boat on what i was saying that said, developer's feelings do matter quite a lot

i think remakes are an exception, because theyre mot really being creatove. theyre just rehashing someone elses work for a quick buck. theyre the opposite of art, unless they do something vastly different.
completely disagree it simply doesn't make sense—why waste time money resources etc. making a remake then, when they could just rerelease the game on the playstation store or some other thing i wouldn't buy a remaster of a game and expect to get anything other than a remaster and if it ends up being not as good as the original, oh well

the (incredibly obvious and you're a fucking moron if you couldn't get this) point i was trying to make is that developers on the whole are not gonna bother packing the original game with a remake because it's a complete waste of time for them to do so
regardless of what YOU want, they are NOT GOING TO DO IT
that's all i'm saying

developers aren't gonna want to rebuild a game from the ground up just so people can play the originals anyway though
if they make the remakes functionally worse than the originals, they should be obligated to
who cares what they want to do. you think these devs give a shit about redoing someone elses work or do they care about getting paid. including the older games doesn't somehow mean less sales.
i don't know, if i spent a year composing a score for a remaster for some old game, and i learned that you can just revert back to the old score on a whim, i'd be pretty upset
i'd feel like i wasted my time
Why exactly are your feelings more important than what the consumer wants?
when exactly did i say that video games are art, for one thing—the designers can put whatever they want in the game and they don't have to listen to fucking anybody, and you can eat shit for all i care for another, that wasn't even the point i was trying to make

Fuck exclusivity, I want everyone to enjoy everything.
as long as there are multiple consoles on the market, i think exclusives are justified

Am I missing something here?
why is he on a controller too
Melee is traditionally only played on GameCube controllers, and most tournaments ban anything else because of fears of creating unfair advantages (primary concerns being with analog vs. digital inputs, etc). Hax literally broke his hand playing the game, and now he has arthritis, but he still wanted to play, so with some help, he developed an ergonomic box controller to allow him to keep playing without any health risks. Trouble is, few large tournaments let him actually use it—so it's surprising to see. I'm happy for him, but I wonder how he got away with it.

I can't believe they're letting Hax play on that thing.

That's a good thing. It's bad to think that's a bad thing The other ones are safe as well, they just allow more precision. It's nowhere near the UFC gloves. It's a weird weight thing Las Vegas has with its rules. Thing about boxing is it's just a bunch of archaic bullshit that got left in the past and has been a very boring sport since Tyson retired. Tyson even told young aspiring athletes to go to MMA because that's where the future is at. Not that you care.
Anyway, reason it's declining is because of what I mentioned earlier, and just as many people, if not more, find the sport repulsive.
fair enough, but there are still better reasons to hate boxing than that

someone notify me when the melee championship starts
will do smash.gg has an interesting bracket where they project the whole tournamentin the top 8, they have Armada, M2K, Hbox, and Mango in winner's Wizzrobe, Leffen, Chudat, and Plup in loser's they have Armada winning against Hbox in grands seems pretty reasonable, but my god, i do NOT WANT armada to win this year i'd love for Hbox to win again, and i'd settle for mango, but armada has been such a pissbaby all year and i'd hate for him to even get second place, i just don't think he deserves it despite being the best player in the world right now

Everyone hates boxing, just not for the reasons you do. It's a boring as HECK sport and they smack each other with pillows. 10 ounce gloves are super soft and easy to hide behind. That's a good thing. It's bad to think that's a bad thing. If you're gonna have a sport based around murdering each other, then it should be safe as possible. That, and much like the NFL, once people found out that "hey maybe getting hit in the head so much isn't a good idea" correlates with concussions, the sport rapidly fell off (you're seeing the NFL deal with it as well, as well as players actually retiring at younger ages so they don't go brain dead by age 45). yeah, it's almost like contact sports as a whole are fucking dumb as shit, and it's good that people are doing this

What a shame.
That's a massive drop, damn.
Couple reasons for it. Street Fighter V was brand new, so a spike in attendance was essentially guaranteed, but at the same time, there was no reason to expect all those first-time attendees to return—especially considering how poorly the game has been selling in general (between May and September of last year, it failed to ship even 100K copies). Nonetheless, it created some unrealistic expectations for future turnouts.
Additionally, there's been a change of venue that's doubling ticket prices. Last year's series took place mostly in Vegas, and tickets were about $40 if I'm not mistaken. Now, the entire tournament is taking place at fancy-schmancy Mandalay Bay, which is costing attendees about $80.
As for Melee, finals won't be taking place on Sunday—meaning it won't take part on the big stage, which is disappointing for lots of people. Melee's being treated more as a side event now.
Either way, it's still a pretty alarming drop.
>$80 to watch people press buttons
$80 to be the people pressing buttons. I don't know how much it costs to actually spectate.
what the fuck it should be $5 if not free
seems to be the same for everyone
I'd pay that much. Fighting games are great.
You're paying less for that than you are to watch some shitty boxing ppv where you're not even fucking there.
yeah but its real people fighting each other
That's why it should cost less.
