this is a negative
Not for them making profits it's not
thus, not a negative
you only say it is because you like physical copies. What you prefer is subjective. What the developer gains via money and revenue is objective
unless buying physical is my only option and as it turns out, the only video games worth playing on this entire planet are the ones that are not available on steam

this is the anatomy of a $60 retail purchase. Valve takes 30% of a sold game on steam which is slightly higher than your average physical retailer. however when you remove the cost of distribution, console platform royalties, and return (unsold inventory) that goes back tot he publisher/dev instead which grants them $42 of a $60 purchase instead of $27.
great and i'm sure you realize that this doesn't apply for games that are not available on steam e.g. any game that's actually worth playing

you didn't pay the devs for their work though so it's really no different in their eyes. the retailer instead got to double dip on the same copy with the devs and publishers seeing nothing from it.
i don't care if the developers are THAT greedy, then they can go fuck themselves

used games don't support the developer though as the only one who makes money from a used sale is the retailer. retailers deserve money too, and assuming the copy wasn't stolen, there's nothing wrong with buying games this way not having to take up physical shelf space this is a negative you might even call it a triple win since devs and publishers actually get more money from a new pc sale than they do a console one.

buying second hand does nothing for devs and publishers and is pretty much no different than a pirated copy for them.
one copy of one game only needs to be paid for once the unauthorized reproduction of digital copies of games is in no way comparable to reselling one already-paid-for copy that hasn't been reproduced in any way, but cute attempt at a "gotcha"

why not play it now i have the means to? if i don't have to wait 6 months for something to go down to 40 i won't. buying a new game is a non issue for me.
Not sure why you're trying to start something over me supporting developers and publishers via legal means.
if that was your original stated purpose for buying games new, then i would've respected that but in general, it's not hard to find used games cheaper than retail price less than a month within any given game's release

especially when cost appears to be of some sort of concern to you, or at least worth bringing up in a discussion of whether PC gaming is "cheaper"
your argument falls flat on its ass when you realize that you don't have to buy games new, and stores that sell used games tend to sell them cheaper than they are on fucking steam

to illustrate what i'm talking about with long run price savings i'll compare my steam and xbox one collection.
i've got about 40 games on my xbox one and 116 on steam. about a third of my xbox one games were given to me for free so for to make things simple i'll say 30 of those 40 games i paid for. over the few years i've owned my xbox one i've paid about 1,800 USD for games and we're not counting any of the DLC or XBL i've bought over those years either. during the entire time i've owned my pc i've probably paid about 500 USD for 116 games which has saved about 1,300 USD in comparison.
that's why you don't buy games new you silly fuck
why are you buying 30 brand new games over the course of "a few years"
i have the income to do that?
>willingly spending more money than you need to play a game on console but why i don't care if you're fucking warren buffet, why would you go and do some stupid shit like that

yeah but those things aren't worth caring about
exactly
we're talking about people who can't even comprehend why someone would think this way though
it's ultimately their loss—we can be satisfied with basically anything; they can only be satisfied if their fastidious demands are met
don't fall off that high horse
you can't even comprehend how high it is
the irony of a pc gamer telling me this
but i'm on my PS3 right now

if nothing else, this thread is evidence that most of the benefits pc players spew off is hype and bullshit. so i'm happy about that.
to be FAIR, you and i are in a minority of people who just don't care about things like graphics or any superfluous "advantage" that a gaming pc has to offer lol fags

if you look, that's about $200 more than what he asked
just say "it's really difficult/impossible to build a working PC for that cheap" if that's the honest truth

the only joke as the Dark Souls thing
great, i was never talking about that so you were definitely ignoring his wishes then how annoying, why would you do that

I'd figured our past interactions would be telling enough to know I'm kidding well, not when you unironically suggest him a $600 build after being told that he's not interested in spending that much money, regardless of what it's capable of
What? You said no in regards to frames and my Dark Souls thing was a joke. Not the $600 thing.
Besides I said $500. Not that it matters.
you said two things that i had a problem with - "you would not play it at 480p, I can tell you that right now" (telling him what he wants) - "much to Verbs triggering, idk if you've played it yet but high frames will be something you care about down the line" (again, telling him what he wants rather than just listening to him) apparently these were jokes, but they also happened to be your only two justifications for the pricey build, because you went on to say that you don't want him wasting money on a "piece of shit," right after being told (repeatedly) that he doesn't care i just don't really understand

And as for FPS, much to Verbs triggering, idk if you've played it yet but high frames will be something you care about down the line
No
Go play Dark Souls and shut up for a few hours
i just enjoy the closed-mindedness of some pc gamers
you cannot accept the possibility of someone not caring about HD graphics or high frame rates
It was a joke you autist
why are your jokes always said in such a way that suggests you're completely serious
Because I have dry humor and am dead inside
what do you want from me
i don't even mean in a dry or deadpan way i mean like, there was literally no indication that you were joking whatsoever it's almost like it wasn't a joke

also btw
just bought myself a capture card and it'll come in the next couple of weeks, so when it does, i'll be recording live gameplay sessions of klonoa 2. i would stream it but that seems like a lot of work, so i don't really want to.
radical streaming IS a lot of work, though, yeah i used to stream games for charity a few years ago with a couple friends, and it was pretty tough, despite having the time of my life

"PC is more affordable" "you get more bang for your buck, you dont need to spend thousands of dollars on a good rig!"
yet when I ask them to make me a rig thats more affordable no one speaks up
usually when people say that, they're talking about long-term games on steam are cheaper and you technically don't have to buy the next generation of consoles every few years still misleading
