tbf, science hasn't exactly ruled out the possibility of increasing our lifespans indefinitely
there's a species of jellyfish called turritopsis dohrnii that's basically immortal, because it can revert back between its baby stage and sexually mature stage, so unless it gets eaten or something, it'll never die a natural death
some japanese fucks are trying to figure out how that shit works, so maybe we can harness the ability
>you can just reborn yourself and have another shot at life
Fucking yes please!
for us it would be more like cell regeneration to reverse or stagnate the aging process

Band manager literally encouraged me to pirate his music since they make almost nothing from albums. Pirating his band's music spreads popularity more so than harming them. Current day musicians use their music for soundtracks or other applications, since they make a small cut every time someone clicks on said video or app.
So why doesn't he just give the album out for free, and then have a donate button or some shit? What a fucking idiot.

There's nothing wrong with emulating old games
Yes there is, especially if they were just rereleased (like Pokémon Gold/Silver).
Why should you buy the remaster (or whatever this is I don't care about Pokémon) instead of emulating it?
Because then you'd be a thief and a bad person. You're not supporting the company that produced the game, and you no longer have the excuse of "it's an old game that they're not profiting from anymore."
But they're just rehashing an old game. I don't really see how they deserve the money that badly.
They're not just rehashing an old game. They're putting it on a modern device with newer and more reliable technology that's less likely to fail on you. The games I'm talking about are so old, they were on these big cartridges that had little batteries inside of them that are only designed to last a few years before they burn out. Once it burns out, you can no longer save your game anymore and it's basically just worthless.
Replacing these batteries is expensive and dangerous, because it requires you to know how to use a soldering iron if you want to do the job right, and even if you still have a working battery, it's gonna die again eventually and there's no way to transfer your Pokémon to newer generations like you can with every subsequent game. Gold/Silver were the only generation of Pokémon games up until now that didn't let you do that, because there wasn't a way to connect a Game Boy to a Game Boy Advance.
Re-releasing the games on 3DS solves all of these problems.
They're also only $10 and if you can't spare that much for such an excellent game, you're really just a pathetic waste of skin.
So after paying for the game and being boned by substandard technology, you're gonna buy it again? Why not emulate it?
Not "substandard" technology, outdated technology.
Because it's a fucking amazing game that Game Freak deserves billions of dollars for making.
I'd buy both versions 30 more times.
I don't emulate games ever because I'm not a piece of shit.
Seems like a lot of fanboying tbb. It's substandard technology to have it run on batteries that aren't easily replaceable.
Not if they last nearly a decade. People weren't even 100% sure video games would still be around in that long.
I know you're slightly stupid, but come on.
So they planned for failure and the industry collapsing within a decade?
Welcome to reality.
And yes, they do deserve money. I'll buy 100 copies every day.
>hates capitalism >openly shills for a broken copyright system designed to protect big corporations and the capitalist status quo.
I'm not "openly shilling" for it. I'm saying "this is the system that you all want, so this is the system that you should get." If you don't like this system, feel free to reject it and become a socialist, That would be the most intelligent way to respond to the problem. But either way, wanting to change the law doesn't give you the right to break the current law. Nobody hates the fact that I have to buy stuff more than I do, but that still doesn't give me the right to be a thief, and that doesn't mean that people shouldn't receive compensation for their work of some form in an economic climate where you NEED compensation just to fucking survive. It's stupid, but that's the way it is, and that's the way capitalists like you want it. So good job making it so fucking difficult for everybody else, and pulling the hypocrisy or shill card on any socialist who tries to peacefully coexist with you by acquiescing to your godawful system while openly protesting it.

This is like Dunkey but for connoisseurs
Dude's made 5000+ videos that are just him mumbling about video games and random shit while almost no one watched them. He's gotten banned a dozen times for copyright infringement and just makes a new channel the same day to continue like nothing's happened (started at Jaakko001 and got up to Jaakko011 before they tied your account to a gmail). He never comments on his videos or responds to anyone, so some people think he's legit autistic or just a very elaborate troll because of the outlandish shit he sometimes says or does (make 20 minute long videos looking at random pictures online and doing nothing but saying whether they're "anime" or "not anime", for example).
10/10 would have a beer with.
gives me nostalgia, i remember stumbling on his shit in the related videos for the actual AVGN's videos back in 2008
oh I thought you were gonna say because he's the same as that creepy old guy you try to be like
in what way do i try to be like him just because i agree with some of his ideas

I'm okay with the number of dungeons, given that Majora's Mask (a top 3 Zelda game) also only has four.
Voice acting was probably a mistake, though.

an annoying voice can't make a show worse, but a better voice (or an artistic lacking of voice) can make a show better
but in that post, you described their voices as "distracting"; which, outside of the single most unconventional use of the word, would indicate that it detracted from the overall experience
pick your poison, bucko. were you wrong now or wrong every other time
there's annoying voices, and there's (what i presume to be) the artistic choice to have an annoying voice the way a character speaks is carefully decided by the acting coach or director; this is part of why i don't like to blame the actor herself, and i tend to avoid using terms like "bad acting," because (on top of my suspension of disbelief being very high) it's very often not the actor's fault at all—that's just how they were directed so when i said "distracted by a terrible voice actress," what i really meant was, "the decision to make this character's voice sound annoying as fuck did not go over well with me" it's not that the acting is "bad"—it's just unappealing, and that's where the detraction comes from to put it another way, it's possible to have an annoying voice in your show that DOESN'T detract from its appeal; take spongebob, for example "annoying voices" are just another tool in the box, it's neither intrinsically good nor bad; but just like you wouldn't hammer a nail with a wrench, you wouldn't give a character an annoying voice if you wanted to make them likable

an annoying voice can't make a show worse,
I disagree
i mean, they would have to be fucking atrociously bad for it to matter for me when it comes to animemes, themes/messages > characters > story > style/visuals > animation > music > voice acting

yeah but they're just people verb. speaking like people that they are. there's nothing wrong with that.

One of my friends, who is learning Japanese, found an incredibly minor flaw that still kind of resonates with me:
The only things in the game that are dubbed in English are the voices of the main cast. Background characters/extras weren't dubbed over at all, so if you listen closely, you can hear some undubbed bits of dialogue in the game—because they couldn't be fucked.
It's a nitpick, but it's also one of those things that, had they actually gone out of their way to dub those extra bits of dialogue, it would've been a really cool gesture. I don't know, that sort of thing is kinda what makes the difference between a 9/10 and a 10/10 for me.

DLC/Amiibos.
Weather. It rains WAYYY too often, exactly as I feared it would prior to the game's release. It wouldn't be so bad, but the fact that it completely debilitates you is kind of fucking silly, especially since you can hardly do anything about it except wait it out. Why not just give us a special clothing item that allows us to climb during the rain, or something? Give it really low defensive properties. Or they could give us a flute that, when played, makes the rain go away, but it only has three uses and it's really rare/expensive. That's all they need to do.
Shrine variety. Either cut down on the number of "test of strength" shrines, or just make them more interesting. Have different enemy types, different terrains, etc—I'm ALWAYS disappointed when I find a new shrine, only for it to be another combat one. They're not bad in principle; they're just really boring and easy, and they come off to me as "filler" more than anything.
Enemy variety. Overall, it definitely feels a bit on the lower side—especially for a game of this scope.
The entire story being told through disjointed memories is fine, I guess, but I would've preferred something a bit more tangible. Knowing that all these things have already happened in the past, and I'm only now viewing them, makes me feel incredibly distant from them in a way that negatively affects how emotionally attached I can be towards them.
Rupees need to be harder to get. You can make bank from absolutely anyone just by collecting a bunch of random shit and then selling it all at once, because all the NPCs have infinite Rupees. In my opinion, they should make it more like Fallout, where every NPC has their own limited wallet, and they can't just buy everything from you. This would give a sense of genuine value to every single Rupee that you own and find. Maybe this is just me, but I really enjoyed how the first two or three hours of the game involve you being completely Rupee-less, and when you finally collect your first Rupee, you're like, "Holy shit, I have 20 Rupees!" I don't know. I just love having to scavenge for stuff, instead of never having to worry about anything, inventory-wise.
And yeah, I think your inventory should be severely limited, too. Maybe add a equip load system, where you can only carry so many things at once? But I'm not sure how to balance that in such a way that wouldn't make the game less fun and more tedious.
Weapons can stay brittle, but there really should've been a way to repair stuff.
Did there really need to be 900 Korok seeds? It's not a flaw, but I personally don't find them very fun to collect.
Chests should contain more exciting things. I'm not entirely sure what, but give me something more than just gemstones and weak weapons. Maybe give me materials that'll allow me to fix the weapons that I just broke, or materials that'll allow me to modify my weapons with cool effects. Slaying a colony of white moblins feels like a complete waste of time (and weapons) if all you're going to get from it is a Ruby. I understand that there are ways to sneak into those colonies without having to kill anything, and that's cool, and one of my favorite aspects of the game. But sometimes I just wanna kill shit, but it's rarely ever worth it towards the late game.
The frame rate could be a bit better. Normally not one to even comment on technical things like this, but given that this is my second or third favorite Zelda game, I put it to an extremely high standard where little things like that start mattering more.
Dungeons could've been longer, though I enjoyed them overall.
The window for flurry slash could've been a lot less lenient. I know this isn't Dark Souls, but I'm at a point where the game's combat just doesn't feel as cool or interesting as it wants to be.
It's still a 9/10 game, and it's still the best thing I've played since 2003—but it does need to be ironed out a bit.

Angel's Egg (Mamoru Oshii, Studio DEEN, 1985) When I watched Mamoru Oshii's most celebrated film, Ghost in the Shell, I only gave it a four-word review—"complete waste of time," and I completely stand by that. So, when I spotted another one of his films in my queue, I naturally found myself putting it off. As my list grows narrower, however, I decided on a whim the other night that I would just strike it off—and I'm glad I did, because I wound up finding a new favorite of mine. Folks... I loved this one. And yeah, it's a bit artsy, so I wouldn't actually recommend it to anybody unless you want to try something a little "different," or if you're intrigued by its goth-punk aesthetic. But what really makes it work for me is just how careful, intimate, and genuinely beautiful the imagery is. It's an interpretive feast for anyone who loves vague symbolism—something I've criticized other shows for, like Evangelion—but whereas that show felt very useless and self-indulgent with its depictions, Angel's Egg feels very authentic. There is almost no spoken dialogue whatsoever, which allows the viewer to enjoy and absorb every last beat for himself, without being distracted by some terrible voice actress's squealing. It creates this bizarrely ominous atmosphere that's just not present in any other anime I've ever seen, and I've tried sixty of them. I also have to note that, despite the fact that this indeed an animated Japanese film featuring a young female protagonist, she is never sexualized—which is an absolutely incredible thing to say when you really think about it. The movie does contain a little bit of sexual imagery, but honest to god, for the first time EVER, I actually think it's done rather tastefully, and it actually works well as a thematic element. This is the kind of movie that transcends anime to me. It's exactly what I'm looking for. I might have to rewatch this a bunch of times so I can glean more messages from it, but after my first watch, I'm delighted to have found another anime that I can give a positive review for. I'm not sure if it's quite as good as Grave of the Fireflies, but that movie was startlingly good, so it's not a fair comparison right now. This score could easily go up, though. Maybe I'll go into my interpretations of it some other time. 7/10
