Is waiting on RNG really the best way to get a Moon/Leaf stone?

Still training for Red. I never stopped; this is just how long it takes.

I realized I never talked about the Blue fight. I don't entirely remember how it went down, but it was pretty intense. Just like in the championship fight against Lance, everyone on the team had their moment.

Shuckie died during the fight, though, which I'm still pretty bummed about. I got myself in a situation where I basically had to sacrifice Shuckie to save the rest of the team. Blue had his Gyarados, and it was clearly about to use Hydro Pump, and one of my guys just had to take the hit. I prayed for a miss, but alas, Shuckie got blasted.

That leaves four champions: Scyther, Lanturn, Skarmory, Beedrill.

Smeargle is still in, but things have changed in terms of her strategy. I had her all prepared with these crazy moves like Spore and Belly Drum, and all I needed left to complete the set was Baton Pass.

Unfortunately, in a nuzlocke, that's a no go. By using the typical method, where I find a wild Smeargle and use Baton Pass on it, the Smeargle will always fail to Sketch the move. The only way I can prevent it from failing is to get my own Baton Pass to fail somehow.

The only way to get Baton Pass to fail is if you only have one usable Pokémon in your party. Keyword "usable."

If Smeargle were fainted, I could get it to work. But as per the rules of a nuzlocke, if a Pokémon ever faints, it's dead.

So, yeah, that entire plan I've been formulating for Smeargle since I first caught her was all for nothing.

I tried looking for something, ANYTHING that Smeargle could do to be somewhat useful for the Red fight. All of the best moves it could possibly learn that I haven't tried before: Spikes, Lock-on, Self-destruct. None of these can be found in the wild. Even the Substitute idea fell flat on its face, because despite the fact that I did manage to catch Mr. Mime (the only thing in the game that actually learns Substitute naturally), I failed to realize that he's at too high of a level. I think they learn Sub at level 20 or something, but can only be found in the wild somewhere in the 30s. You basically have to breed for it.

All I want to do is use a Smeargle, but the game has done quite literally everything in its power to prevent me from using it.

In a fit of frustration and desperation, I decided to make an extremely rash decision: I was gonna have Smeargle learn Guillotine from a Krabby.

This is extremely dangerous for obvious reasons. Wild Krabby (or Kingler) can be fished for with a Super Rod at level 40, and in their moveset, they will have Guillotine (a move that will instantly kill Smeargle if she gets hit by it).

To minimize chances of death, I took my second Gastly along (the one I caught in Tin Tower). Since she's immune to Guillotine, I was gonna use her to reduce Guillotine's PP. That way, Smeargle only has to dodge a single Guillotine instead of the two she would have otherwise (since Sketch only has one PP itself).

This Gastly ended up dying because I did something stupid. We've come full circle, at least. Twenty deaths; a full box of deceased warriors. The first death of the run was a Gastly, too.

RIP:

I later discovered that one-hit KO moves in this game work almost the same as they did in Gen I. Basically, there was no actual chance for Smeargle to die. But still, I TOTALLY though I was risking poor Smeargle's life there, completely unnecessarily. This run has done things to me.

There's no telling when I'll be finished training, but I don't particularly enjoy the grind. It might even be until fucking summer.

Oh, and if you're wondering who I replaced Shuckle with, I brought back Kurama the Vulpix. I still can't use a Fire Stone on him, which fucking sucks fat dick, but I don't know who else to use, really. I'll let him take out his frustration with me against Red.

Lastly, my final encounters of the game are:
Route 28 - Tangela (which ran away, not that I cared to have it).
Mt. Silver - another Donphan.

Why wouldn't people just go to ISPs that don't do that?
because it's not that easy

most people don't have access to more than one or maybe two providers, so they don't have a choice

I see. So actually wherever the game was made in Japan or not is not a criteria, right?
right, not really in this case

I see. So are you planning to cover every "anime videogame" as well on your crusade of proving that anime is shit?
i'd like to play a lot of them, yeah, or at least all the critically acclaimed ones

but not as part of that "crusade," just as a lover of video games

i think anime in general is a medium that tends to work much better in video game form, which is why i'm able to enjoy things like zelda and pokémon, despite them getting increasingly more anime-esque with each installment

Quote
Also, what are your criteria for games to be anime?
if it has a stereotypical anime-esque artstyle, and uses a bunch of tropes commonly associated with anime

basically, if you can just look at it and say "yeah this was made in japan"

dark souls and mario are japanese games, but they don't really look or feel like it

How this is an anime?
that's like asking "how are trees plants"
But this might be a videogame and not an anime. Or games with such graphics are "anime" in your definition too?
it's xenoblade chronicles 2, and i'm using anime as an adjective

video games have been infused with anime for decades, it's not really weird to describe them as such

And no, he can't. Martian Manhunter alone has more powers than Superman has, and he has constantly shown to be beaten by other heroes like Wonder Woman and the Flash. Hell, the Reverse Flash defeated him with a single punch when Wondy took more punishment and ended up beating the Reverse Flash. Superman is also way too hung up in protecting others that he sometimes ignores their need to help thinking that he can take the brunt of the attack, this had led him being humiliated by Darkseid, Brainiac, and Lobo both in his own series and in the JLA.

Recently in Rebirth he couldn't even beat a single octopus monster alone, he needed his son's help. AND then he couldn't beat the Eradicator alone, he had help from his son, from Lois in the Hellbat armor, and Krypto. AND now he barely survived fighting against Zod, Cyborg Supes, and Eradicator. If he was sooo powerful as you say, he would've already cleaned house, but he didn't. He left the fight blinded and beaten.
Okay, cool

Now apply it to mainstream where the convoluted and usually poorly written comics (and I mean comics as a whole) actually apply

or let Marvel get their hands on it so they can actually do something decent with the character. But we all know they wouldn't let Marvel touch their face.
i feel like you only read a limited number of superman comics
few people have to the patience to wade through oceans of shit to find a somewhat okay story

comics are a worse medium than anime

Also since he was mentions let's take a moment to remember what a dumb, shitty villain Doomsday is.
that should've been one of my caveats

what GOOD, WELL-WRITTEN characters are stronger than superman

if at any time superman actually DOES lose a fair fight, it's just poor writing and a vain attempt at curbing expectations

he's not supposed to lose a fair fight, he's superman

that's basically showing me a picture of superman getting knocked out by donald duck's dick, it doesn't mean anything

neither wonder woman nor superman are being canonically represented in the dceu. nice try. same with flash.
there's like a billion different canons who gives a fuck

Quote
characters that are equal to or greater than superman (high diff):

lobo
darkseid
the atom
bizarro
martian manhunter
shazam
doomsday
captain atom
dr fate (but what kind of shitty fucking character design is this)
wonder woman
the flash (who can solo any non-omnipotent character)
firestorm
the spectre
most of the new gods
(if your character can be described as a "god" among superheroes, that should automatically disqualify)

off the top of my head
red = FUCK no

yellow = villain, doesn't count

blue = non-character whose only purpose is to be powerful

green = an actually good example yay

you're gonna need at least 200 more, and that's low-balling it considering how many superheroes there are

also keep in mind that superman is not the BASELINE of overpowered; you can be slightly weaker or even MUCH weaker than superman and still be "overpowered"

wrong
fucking right

that was the only entertaining scene of that JUSTice league movie, the scene where superman comes back to life, gets pissed, and starts curbstomping everyone, including wonder woman

because that's what superman does

the purpose of his character is to be uninteresting
Quote
except it literally does because you cant be overpowered when everyone else is relatively as powerful as you... overpowered within the context of power scaling is a comparative statement
>everyone else
>two characters

ok

so they basically have to find ways to make him WEAKER just to make him more interesting as a character

fucking amazing

wonder woman has faster combat speed and martial arts ability
which literally doesn't matter when superman could obliterate her with a single punch

Quote
martian manhunter has greater battle intelligence and more powers
which literally doesn't matter, because two overpowered characters does not make one less overpowered

Quote
shazam has pretty much everything superman had plus magic affinity (which superman is just as susceptible to as everyone else).
which literally doesn't matter, because two overpowered characters does not make one less overpowered

as for villains, it makes far more sense for villains to be OP anyway

I really hate the whole "I won't kill anyone no matter what :^)" kind of character, even when faced with real life shit. It's such a naive fucking thing.

Even this guy?
poster boy definition of a superhero, like say Superman (who they're finally trying to change from being boring/OP, which is hard to do, but that's a different story).
If only I gained a penny every time someone repeated this hilarious misconception.
Cryptonite

wow

It's not like he can do literally anything else and makes all other Superheroes kinda pale in comparison.
