Why is that any more desperate than codeine, Oxycontin, or alcohol? Codeine is cough medicine (so it also applies). Oxycontin is expensive. Alcohol is a sanction. DXM is for white trash. It's cheap, easy, and legal (unlike weed in most states)--perfect for losers who can't find anything else, and are so young, so stupid, and so desperate (the most important part), that they can get themselves hooked up even if underage. It's a kiddie drug. The epitome of the "look how cool I am for doing this" drug.
