Steak is shit, there's nothing appealing about a chewy tasteless slab of meat unless you're primal of course
You've never had a decent steak in your life, it really shows.
Dude I've eaten steak at one of the most expensive steak houses in London and it was meh
And how did you order it?
Well done I think he said is how he eats steak [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
why would you eat steak any other way
are you retarded
no, because i realize that you have to cook raw food before you eat it
so yes
you know what's appetizing

a thick slab of what looks like your mother's vagina on her period

mmmmmmmmmmmm
Medium rare is ideal and it's nothing like that
medium rare is for disgusting degenerates and my description was spot-on
No it's for people who understand how meat is supposed to be cooked, and are aware of what good flavour is.
so not you
My sentiment is echoed by the #1 authority on grilling steaks
YouTube

this is absolutely the most senseless and boring thing to be elitist about, but we all have to find something i guess
You done editing?
no couple more

wanderer clothes/eastern armor, depending on whether i want fast rolls or more defense
winged spear/butterfly horn + grass crest or eagle shield (still trying to find a stronger greatshield that suits me)
power within, fire orb, combustion, cast light, aural decoy
wolf/cloranthy ring with havel's
black bow of pharis for aggroing grouped enemies individually (is that considered cheesy too? idc)
emphasis on VIT, END, and DEX

i shortly discovered that dark souls is a game that rewards patience and defensive play, and being able to attack while shielding is sexy as hell, so it wasn't long before i decided to exploit that—power within might be a strange spell to use, but it's carried me through some of the tougher bosses in the game, and i feel like a badass kaio-ken warrior using it, so that's a thing

i also have a boner for stamina regen, and it would be dope if there was a greatshield with that effect

when i get back to playing, i still have to fight nito who i only have a single attempt on

he seems pretty tough though, so i'm actually considering putting on the ring of fap, which i've been saving

Honestly, as long as your not using magic I have no issue with how you play.
do utility spells/pyromancies count

power within, cast light, aural decoy, etc.
[snip]
It's always been a strange mentality for me, and it's never quite been how I saw it.

I don't like using offensive magic much, simply because it's not my style, but instead of viewing it as a way to make the game easier, I view it as me making the game more difficult. The game is providing me with tools to beat it with relative ease, and in my eyes, whatever tools it provides you with is 100% fair game.

If they didn't want me to cheapen the experience by using magic, they wouldn't have made magic so powerful. If it's somehow a crazy oversight, then that's certainly not the player's fault.

I know you're not claiming that it's an unfair mechanic, but if one is so concerned with making the game too easy for themselves, where do you draw the line? I could easily argue that anyone's playstyle is baby easy mode because they're not doing a SL1 Depraved run with no weapons, couldn't I?

I have a friend who is a self-described "hardcore casual." He loves video games, but specifically chooses to be as casual as possible, because that's what's most fun to him. He'll never play anything competitive, and he always plays on the easiest mode possible (even in games like Persona, which basically just removes the ability to lose). He simply doesn't care about being challenged; he only wants to have fun.

Despite this, I've been trying to get him into Dark Souls for a long time, because I think there are several aspects of it that would appeal to him (namely the world, lore, atmosphere, story, etc). Although he's interested, he's always told me that he'd specifically go out of his way to make the game as cakewalky as possible with lots of magic and summoning NPCs for every boss, because dying hundreds of times to bosses he refuses to "get good" at fighting is not his idea of fun. So, we've agreed to do a co-op playthrough where I'm essentially taking care of all the bosses for him while he assists me with magic spells, because he values that aspect of the game a lot more. The teamwork.

I've tried explaining to him that much of the game's appeal is the triumph of overcoming these obstacles yourself, but he's just not interested in that whatsoever. He explained that his playstyle couldn't possibly cheapen the experience for him, because he simply would not have even tried the game had there not been ways to make it easier. He's well-aware that his mentality will not be respected among veterans of the series, but he doesn't mind. The reason he labels himself as a hardcore casual is because that's what everyone else called him, but instead of getting bent out of shape over it, he took it in stride and proudly accepts the label.

And honestly, I respect him a lot for sticking with his waterpistols. At the end of the day, I'd rather him play Dark Souls with me and have fun with it than have him go it (mostly) alone and put it down after deeming it "too hard."

So yeah, what I'm trying to say is that I just don't really care how anybody plays. Unless you're cheating or using mods, I couldn't be fucked what you do to win. There are certainly more impressive ways to beat the game, and I'm certainly not gonna resort to using magic or summons any time soon, but if the one thing preventing somebody from playing a great game is the difficulty, and they have an option to curb it for their sanity's sake, I won't begrudge them that. I can't imagine lambasting somebody over a preferred playstyle.

now that this game is super relevant again, i'm definitely gonna have to try to finish it before may

the game has been priced at $40 (good but not ideal) but the gift card i received on xmas should cover that

https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2018/01/11/dark-souls-remastered-is-more-than-just-a-new-coat-of-paint/#74f835692124

some new things:
- matchmaking (a la ds3) is now possible so pvp will be less completely fucking asinine (definitely should've been a thing from the beginning, so no brownie points from me)
- up to six players can mingle now
- dedicated servers > peer-to-peer

nothing i give a shit about, just give me an option to say "fuck you" on the title screen and give me an offline pause feature and i'll be good

the game is also not using any new assets, which is great

OT:
the remastered version is not going to fix any of the issues that i currently have with dark souls 1

Gaming / Re: Come up with 2018 gaming predictions

i respect the game's desire to create a microcosm that puts a magnifying glass to the shittier aspects of human nature through the combination of anonymity + power, but i just think it could've been handled way better

in fact, dark souls 1 probably has the worst MP experience i've ever played

but there's not a single person on this planet who sees it my way, so i guess it doesn't really matter

i'm still right though

I told you many times (along with others) that you could literally just unplug your Ethernet cable when you played it.
this never once happened
Lie all you want, it doesn't change a thing.
even if you did, there was the mixed messages of "you're not getting the full experience if you do that though"

so you're the liar, because the true experience is playing offline
No it isn't that's half the experience
and half the experience is the best possible experience

there is no reason to play dark souls online if you're not a scumfuck or a retard or a small child

AKA the exact person i want nothing to do with, and the exact person that would destroy the game's worth for me
We've probably been here before, but whats your opinion on the AI invasions?
100% cool with them, and i actually wish they happened more often

i view them as no different than just another enemy you have to fight, except that they're kind of like minibosses that give you rare weapons and shit

it's different when another player invades you, because now, an actual human being is actively making the choice to be a cunt to you for absolutely no reason

on the flipside, being able to invade characters like lautrec is really cool, because i'm just killing an NPC to avenge a fire keeper, instead of ruining an actual person's day for my personal gain

That is arguable because a lot of the games mechanics are tied to summoning other people. Hell some bosses in the series require online to summon players as part of the boss fight, which I think is pretty damn cool.

Otherwise you get a especially janky AI
i think that's retarded
