we're talking about the best three films in the series. You know, the prequels.
This is the worst and most wrong opinion I've ever seen
how about this one:

Spoiler
star wars is retarded in general and is only genuinely appreciated by children and nostalgiafags
having bred one of the most rampant and retarded fanbases of all time

And those are more minor annoyances than groundbreaking issues.
Spoiler
and the stiff lightsaber duel between ben and vader in episode iv

but i guess that can be chalked up to "they got old"
Spoiler
(except yoda is 800 something and duels like a pro)

My future is in shambles. "Balance" is something of a pipe dream. I'm just trying to find some kind of niche right now, but  I'm so depressed, I often convince myself that I'm going to be miserable no matter what I do. It's not exactly motivating.

I have no interests or prospects, and wasting time trying to develop any just makes me even more depressed, because I never find anything.

We're not talking about the superfluous special effects added to the original trilogy; we're talking about the best three films in the series. You know, the prequels.

The original trilogy, obviously
I think you mean, 'the trilogy'.

Because, y'know. Only three films were made, back in the '70s and '80s. And none were ever made again.
Yeah there were.

There was the Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. All of them were marketed as prequels to the first three films and tell the story of Anakin Skywalker as he becomes a Jedi Knight, leading up to his downfall as he becomes Darth Vader.

They're all here on IMDb. They existed. They happened.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120915/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0121765/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0121766/

Oh, and they're the best in the series.

IV - V - I - II - III - VI

If you just want the movies that have relevance to each other:

IV - V - II - III - VI

I'm not saying to take out due to quality (although it does have enough QUALITY to go around), more for the fact that the plot is completely internalized and is never meaningfully referenced even within the prequel trilogy.
^
this is pretty much the go-to order

I would say if you follow this order, you might as well leave out the Phantom Menace. It really was an unnecessary sort of "prologue" that doesn't add anything, and most people who watch it lose their faith in Star Wars anyway. Even though it's not that bad.

The Flood / Re: >tfw philosophy teacher thinks suicide is cowardly
« on: March 10, 2015, 07:51:05 PM »
Yeah it is.
no it isn't

99% of smokers know that it's bad for you
so it makes sense that 99% of them wouldn't condone it

that makes it the most expected, most banal, most quotidian thing ever
literally the opposite of irony

41655
The Flood / Re: >tfw philosophy teacher thinks suicide is cowardly
« on: March 10, 2015, 07:46:59 PM »
Which is nice, but frequency does little to change the fact that it is irony by definition.
it actually changes everything
if something happens frequently, you tend to EXPECT it

if not, then i guess my initial assertion was correct

41656
The Flood / Re: >tfw philosophy teacher thinks suicide is cowardly

because one who is an idiot does not typically call another an idiot
except that sort of thing happens literally all the time
across all media
and in real life

i would argue that everyone is an idiot
internet forums are comprised of idiots calling each other idiots

to say that "idiots don't typically call each other idiots" is a laughably ignorant statement
which leads me to believe that you haven't seen any movies ever
haven't played any games
don't listen to music
don't go on the internet
and don't go outside

because with that logic, it's also ironic to have a smoker tell you that smoking is bad

that's not ironic at all, but with your insane logic, it apparently is

41657
I justify it like this: I can have myself live with an assload of self-hatred, fear, and boredom with menial life or I could have a handful of people live with the pain of my loss.

There's more of them than there are of me.
you don't have to justify anything--i'm not trying to condone suicide or nothing
i just don't view it as a strictly selfish act

that's that sort of black and white mentality that i know you hate, and i have a love/hate relationship with

The Flood / Re: >tfw philosophy teacher thinks suicide is cowardly

What an unexpected turn of events! An idiot decided to call me an idiot! The irony!

Go back to angsting in a corner, Verby, instead of acting like...well, your usual asshole self.
no, kid

it would only be ironic if you spent your whole life up until now trying to build your knowledge in a wide variety of areas and fields in order to become some kind of genius or polymath

and then i decided to call you a retard

but you haven't done that

41659
The Flood / Re: >tfw philosophy teacher thinks suicide is cowardly

Suicide is irrational and stupid with a few exceptions:
-You're terminally ill
-You have a degenerative neurological disorder that will only get worse.
-You're in a vegetative state
wow, that's a lot of exceptions

41660
Suicide is selfish, there is no arguing against that.
so people should just live because YOU want to continue seeing them

how selfish of you

Suicide is cowardly.

Deciding not to go through with it, however, is among the bravest things one can do.

>"Should the government raise the federal minimum wage?"
>"No, most minimum wage jobs are meant to develop experience, not support a family"

wow, fuck you
that's one of the default answers, so that's obviously how people think, too

41667
films are rather complex, and children often have tiny attention spans, so the more you watch a film as a child, the more you learn about how films work, regarding the cinematography, the acting, the score, the dialogue, and the plotlines--it's difficult for children to absorb all this new information on the first watch

as we develop our understanding further, we absorb lots of information much more efficiently

it's a developmental thing
