even learning japanese isn't bad
it's just stupid if you're only learning it so you can understand undubbed anime, like a weeaboo would do
there's no german equivalent of that i just don't think "deutschaboo" functions as a term
What if you want to learn German to watch German war movies unsubbed?
well, film is an art (not to mention kafka's writings) anime is a shit filter

>Not reading Mein Kampf and Kafka literature in the original German is that why everyone says mein kampf is boring? because the english does no justice to the ferocity brought forth by the german language or what lol

Even my cursive is that of a second grader, even though I only know how to write my signature. That is to say, my cursive is perfect (and thus, copy-able). You're kinda supposed to write your signature messily. I just don't know how people do it consistently <_<

Except for learning (obsessively at points in my past) about periods including the Nazi era. who frowns upon that though you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who genuinely thinks simply learning about something is bad, even if it was obsessive

Which is why it's confusing that you're arguing the meaning of a portmanteau (deutschaboo) in terms of a different, more general use of the original.
When I say deutschaboo, I mean that I'm learning german and plan to visit (if not move to) Germany at some point in my life. Germany's my favorite country. the contention was with the fact that weeaboos are generally frowned upon because the -aboo affix denotes an obsession, no? and obsessions are usually frowned upon if what is being obsessed over isn't deemed worth obsessing over by the general public so i was just saying, i don't think anyone's going to give you the fish-eye for wanting to learn german/visit germany i sure wouldn't

Looks at weeaboo (TEAM weeaboos, not fucking animefags like everyone on this forum) and you'll see that they view Japan as a mesh of time periods, not just "modern day". Perfect example being that old Ken-sama copypasta. i guess, but have i ever, ever used the term "weeaboo" properly? i've always used it just to describe anime fans

and Japanese culture today also has people speaking like their animes and carrying around katanas while wearing kimonos and committing ritual suicide, right? no, but i'm not quite sure what that has to do with it every country has old culture do i gotta say "modern" culture because that seems really redundant

The German Empire is German history just as is Nazi Germany, just like the Tudor period was a time in England's history.
It's a big part of why Germany of today acknowledges it and also has preventative measures for it; if you don't keep mind of your history, it may be repeated in your future. i wasn't talking about german history though when people use the term weeaboo, are they talking about japan's history? no they're talking about japan's culture if you're saying nazism is a big part of german culture today i mean...

Yes, and so is Holocaust denial. All it means is that it's a shunned part of their history that they don't want coming back.
so from my perspective, that means it may as well be a different country in the same way that we're not the same person we were ten years ago that's why we differentiate between germany and nazi germany

which was totally germany's fault, right not the third reich same thing, right it's pretty bad when i know history better than someone else
