would you like me to explain to you how competitive fps works? because it involves a LOT more variables than just who shoots first. doubt it feel free to try to explain though

I believe its a lil bit more than who squeezed the trigger first. There is also accuracy coming into it. Games like Counter Strike, how well you place your shots is key and people are very good at that. Some PC gamers can sneeze and still land a headshot. i'd hardly count accuracy just because it's such a simple thing to master if you're missing your shots, you're just not trying very hard, are you

fighting games are like FPS games in that regard, too, but fighters are actually one of my favorite genres because of a few key differences
you can actually train in fighting games and develop strategies that way, unlike FPS
this idea that people can be "better" or "worse" than someone at an FPS is asinine to me you shot me before you did--that's it there's no nuance there
if i shot you first, would that really make me a better player? because that's all it really takes to win--whoever shoots who first. fighting games, i would argue, are a lot more sophisticated
if you lose, it wasn't just because someone hit a button before you did, unlike in an FPS it was most likely due to a much larger number of factors, including dropping combos, your own poor execution, failing to use a better move at a better time, having a bad character matchup etc. etc.
the most nuance i get from FPS games in that regard is, "the gun you used sucked" and how often are the guns fairly placed on the map anyway?
anyway, whatever, i just know people are gonna get all angry now because i'm pointing out the most untouchable genre's flaws

the strategy's development is often more fun for me than the procedure but if everything goes according to plan, and everything comes into fruition, i derive a lot of satisfaction from that
but of course, the game has to allow me to have that type of experience FPS games aren't like that--you kinda have to think on your feet, which i struggle at, especially if i'm working with a team

calculated and thorough
but that's really general, and assuming all games are reduced to just problem solving mechanisms
i like to take my time developing strategies

I didn't think these kinds of considerations applied to text abbreviations. well clearly if there's many options, and you pick one of them, some kind of thought process went on arbitrary or not

What the fuck is "unnecessary abuse"? Is there "necessary abuse" in your mind or did you just word this wrong? i think "unnecessary abuse" functions as a term, simply because "necessary abuse" is an oxymoron because no abuse is necessary--that's why it's called abuse

also, by denying animal "consciousness", are you denying animal sentience? because that would constitute outright ignorance
41175
« on: March 26, 2015, 03:39:31 PM »
However, I think that unnecessary abuse or maltreatment of animals shouldn't be there. Animals should be respected as living beings, but that shouldn't be treated as a right for an animal. then what should it be treated as seems like a semantic distinction

i don't use acronyms, often
so this kinda confuses me
from what i can tell, there's sort of an innate hierarchy going on where "lmao" is more intense than "lol" but "LOL" in all caps can also be an intensifier
and what's a more intense expression of laughter--"lmao" or "rofl" or "LOL"? how are you supposed to choose
do you even put that much thought into it, or is it all just arbitrary and you just pick whatever

on civil unions: i don't see how one could be "for" or "against" civil unions, as if there's some debate on their existence i would like it, however, if either:
- there were no special rights/benefits for married couples OR - civil unions got the same special rights/benefits as married couples
if married couples received no tax breaks, etc. solely for being married, i wouldn't give a fuck either way about that shit on abortion: There's only one time when you should ever get an abortion:
When you're pregnant. on minimum wage: i'm for raising it and all
but if all that's going to do is raise the price of everything, i guess that's a losing battle the question is, how do you prevent that from happening (assuming it would)
because the fact is, people don't make enough money--especially in that fledgling sector of the working class and no external factors will change that fact

do you really think the founding fathers wouldn't make a stalwart effort of being absolutely clear
they were composing the supreme law of the land they wouldn't just "word something weird" like it didn't matter

You do realize the 2nd amendment says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Meaning they didn't intend for literally all citizens to just walk around with guns. It just somehow got twisted into that. At least that's how some interpret it. The part where it says " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" is what causes the confusion.
The founding fathers just worded it weird.
