Okay, you know what? This is honestly frustrating me Verb. I've given my explanation, whether you like it or not is up to you. I'm done talking about this.
it's really not up to me in the sense that i operate on... logic?
i don't get to decide how logic works

it's not up to me to decide if your explanation works logically
it just doesn't work logically

invasions are bad
period--i used to be open to the possibility of that notion being wrong, but now i'm dead certain that it isn't

i'm sorry it frustrates you, but really, the bottom line is
liking invasions is wrong

Its essentially drop in-drop out PVP. You don't even have to stop playing to search, it just throws the person in your game when he connects. Plus, if I haven't cleared an area, I have to be mindful of the AI as well. So I get a two front battle, which is even more fun.
you're still not getting to the consent issue

not everyone is willing to consent to getting fucked over
especially me

why isn't there a "FUCK YOU, CUNT" button
that would really liven the experience for me

better yet, implement a way to give the invader cancer or some shit
yeah, that would be great

does it have that feature

They get x amount of souls for winning, or humanity, or whatever kind of item it is for the covenant they're in.
well, they shouldn't
you shouldn't get ANYTHING for fucking a player over

and i was more asking why your shit is just... on the floor, ready to be picked up again
what's the point

sounds like shit design to me

You asked why I like it, and I told you.
well, sorry, i don't think that's a good enough reason
the game clearly has ways of "making you feel smart"--it doesn't need invasions to do that

and if it does, then... bad game

And I think you misunderstand something

The invader doesn't take your souls

They get dropped on the ground for you to pick back up
...

HUH?

what the fuck is the point of that, then?

No, I wasn't. I was surprised, I admit, but I wasn't pissed. It was adrenaline pumping because every fight I had before that was against AI that could be beaten by just doing slash > back step > slash. For the first time in the game (at the time), I was fighting something that actually made me play smart.
well, i'll just say it outright, then--you were wrong for not being pissed off

but that's not really the point anyway

just because YOU are okay with being invaded doesn't mean other people are
that doesn't make it a good feature that needs to stay in the game

40597
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 05:29:18 PM »
And you're assuming it pisses me off- it doesn't.
you didn't get pissed off the first time you were ever invaded, nonconsensually, and lost your shit

you weren't pissed off at that

see, this is the problem

that's like being stolen from, catching the thief, and then being like... "hey, i know you stole my shit, and that really pissed me off, but in hindsight, chasing you around was kind of fun--we should do this again sometime"

And make no mistake, I'm not trying to get you to like it.
i'm not under that delusion--right now, i'm just trying to get you to explain why you don't mind it
because i still don't understand

you're calling red "blue", and it's just... ughghghgh
Verb, please reread that first sentence. I like to be invaded . Meaning I'm consenting to invasion, and the invader is consenting to invade. I WANT to be invaded, otherwise I wouldn't hang around in major PVP zones and waiting for someone to take the bait.
well, not everybody consents to it
and you have a very loose definition of "consent" there

if it's like in street fighter where you can create a lobby and have people join, then yeah, okay
if it's not, that's not really consent--that's just you sort of accepting the fact that you're playing a game that doesn't have that

which is consent, sure, but that's... asinine

I enjoy PVP, so it goes without saying that I like being invaded?
no... it doesn't

pvp is fucking GREAT...
...if it's consensual

i play street fighter--the game is purely pvp
that's the point of the game

but you can't "invade" people in that game
so no, obviously, invading
1. is not a necessary part of a pvp experience
2. does NOT go without saying why anyone would enjoy it

it's like saying, "i like getting raped--it goes without saying, i just like getting raped. no explanation needed"
"i like being stolen from--it goes without saying why i would"
? ? ? ? ?
Quote
2) I never pay attention to messages unless it's pertinent like "ambush ahead"; if it's a lie I was cautious but still alive, if it's true I'm cautious but still alive. So really I'm not for or against it, it's just... there.
i don't see anything to be neutral about, but whatever

if you don't have a good reason to do something, you shouldn't do it

"because i enjoy it" is not a good reason

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

Holy shit that's dumb
if you fail to demonstrate how or why i'm wrong

then from what fucking sorcery should i contrive that i'm wrong

"hating popular things is bad"
"expressing unpopular opinions is bad"
"challenging the popular opinion is bad"

that's all you're saying

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

no one has given me any reasons as to why they approve of it/don't disapprove of it
all anyone ever tries to do is tell me why i should think a different way

which would be fine, if it didn't make you look like you have no ground to stand on

40604
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 04:40:56 PM »
People shouldn't enjoy things I don't approve of
correct

unless they can explain to me, through logic, why i should either
1. approve of it
2. not disapprove of it

literally everyone on earth thinks like this
i'm just more vocal about it

it's not like i can force everyone else not to ring it, though
which is funny, because even if i could, i still wouldn't be happy

because invasions would still technically be part of the fucking game
and, no

can't have it

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

it's not like i can force everyone else not to ring it, though

and besides, you just said:
If you want to summon someone but not he invaded? An NPC appears in your area ringing the sinister beckoning bell. Kill that enemy and nobody can come through.
you'd have to do it if you wanted to summon somebody

so yes, you do have to prevent it, if that's how you want to play the game
and maybe that's how i'd want to play the game

so that's bullshit--i shouldn't have to do that to prevent getting invaded
and that's just kind of a nonsensical way to prevent invasions anyway, isn't it?

how about having a fucking "do you want to allow invasions? YES/NO" prompt
that's all they'd have to do--it still means that invasions are a part of the game, but it's better than having to kill an enemy

40608
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

maybe if they added an option to automatically send a message that reads "FUCK YOU, CUNT" to anyone who tries to invade you, i might be able to overlook it

but yeah, that's still assuming that i'd be able to tolerate the misleading messages--and i'm not

40609
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 04:22:06 PM »
exactly

i'm not sure you understand just how little i'm able to tolerate this kind of stuff

it should not be in the game
i don't wanna have to take measures to prevent invasions--there should be nothing to prevent in the first place

40612
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 03:29:24 PM »
seems a little convoluted

or at least, not something i'd want to keep having to do just to keep the fucktards out, when i don't think invasions should be a part of the experience in the first place

40613
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 02:19:07 PM »
Logically speaking then couldn't you that by agreeing to play this game you give consent to the stuff it puts out?

You choose not to play it. You don't give your consent. The players that do? They give consent.
there's no contract

if the game had a disclaimer at the very beginning that read,
"WARNING: this is a game designed for depraved cunts, BY depraved cunts--if you don't like that, stop playing"

then maybe that would logically follow
it's not like i knew exactly what the game was gonna be like before i played it

I was just making a suggestion to you because I suddenly realized nobody has ever brought up the argument before that dark souls has offline mode.
i appreciate it, but don't worry, two people already have
aria and raw rugar

thanks for the offer, but until the option to invade players without their consent is removed entirely, as well as the ability to leave misleading messages, i will forever condemn this game

And likewise From also added in the feature of offline so people who don't want to be fucked over have that choice.
i'm saying that's not enough
Quote
And in regards to nobody being fucked over. Whose to say some don't enjoy it?
they're idiots
they're fucking idiots
what else can i say to that

"would you appreciate getting fucked over?"
"yes, i would"

what
what
what
what
what

It's like a submission/domination relationship between a couple in the bedroom. Or a masochist. You could argue that pain is something inherently made to be avoided. And yet there's masochists out there that enjoy that bite of pain.
you know what else masochists like? consent

you think you could punch any masochist in the face without warning, and they'll enjoy it?
come on, get real

An invader coming to fuck you over in a critical moment spikes excitement and adrenaline. Perhaps frustration if you panic and lose. Perhaps "I did it!" if you win.
which is bogus--as if that's the only possible way to get excitement and adrenaline
there's so many other ways that don't involve stupid shit

The first game I played was in 2D.
The first thing that pops up into my mind when I read "video game" is a 2D video game.
If I played a 3D game first, that entire perception would be shattered. So it makes me shudder.

It would be like waking up left-handed.

Not that complicated, shithead.
