You should feel good that your book has a big enough following that people will add their own creations to it for Fanfiction.
Why? It's insulting. Not to mention, plagiarism.

But Lemon, art and stuff.  ART.

Modding ruins art with....MORE ART!
You probably think graffiti is okay, too. JUST because it's pretty.

That really doesnt mean that they dont 'respect their own art'...
By my standards, it does. If I wrote a book, and someone edited it, adding a bunch of My Little Ponies, and tried to publish it? I'm not supposed to take umbrage with that? I'm supposed to LET him to that? I'm supposed to ENCOURAGE that?

I am out.
Congratulations--you have contributed absolutely nothing. I'm going to continue hating the fuck out of mods now.

So what if developers encourage modding? Like Bethesda with their dedicated modkit.
then they don't even respect their own art

how can i have any respect for a developer who doesn't even respect his own art

What is it then?
RATIONAL!  :D
Respectful of art!
Dismissive of iconoclasm!
Maybe a little bit of purism!

Well, I'm definitely a purist--that's why I hate mods so much, because you're literally breaking the fucking game to your whim, and I find that disgusting.

Get your sociopathy checked.
Get your definition of sociopathy checked.

because... that's not sociopathic

Yeah, Verbatim, if you don't have the maturity or the mental capability of having a discussion then you shouldn't even bother. There are other eight billion people out there, each one with their own shit going on.
I've already have how many pages of discussion already? I don't really feel like repeating my arguments because you think you're special.

7.3 billion, by the way.

Only games that are loved in the first place get the biggest, and most dedicated modding communities.
Well, that's just a lie. If you loved the game, you wouldn't mod it. Period.

They don't love the game; they love modding the game. Maybe the developers gave them ample opportunity to piss all over their art, and people like that. Well, guess what--I don't.

I think LC said something about only downloading lore-friendly mods earlier, too, and I forgot to touch upon that.

There's no such thing. There are no "lore-friendly" mods. If it wasn't in the game originally, then it's breaking the game's lore. It doesn't matter what it is. If it's a graphics mod, or some kind of mod that fixes a bug, that's still changing the game. You might not consider stuff like that part of the "lore", but I do.

Verbatim, please.
Sure, you can have your own personal copy of the art to do whatever the fuck you want with it. That's not my point, though. My point is that modding games is retarded. It's stupid. I'll never do it, and no one else should, either.

why can't you just love the game for what it is

Don't tell me what to do Verbatim.
I'm not, nor have I ever. I'm simply saying that I think using mods is stupid as fuck.

Don't like the mods? DON'T DOWNLOAD THEM! DON'T INSTALL THEM! SIMPLE AS THAT!
Why are you telling ME what not to do, now? Especially if it's something that I already don't do.

I'm the developer here on this site when it comes to MY content

Or, you could play a different game.
Buying another game means spending more money. The truly dumb thing is not wringing all of the possible enjoyment you can out of something before moving on.
Modding a game is doing the opposite of that. Most people who mod games haven't wrung out all of the possible enjoyment they could out of the vanilla game. Which is stupid.

Video games are not paintings; you are not throwing acid on a painting when you mod a game.
Yeah, you basically are, though.

"Programmers sure do hate when their efforts on a game engine go towards only one product and then never see the light of day again.  Leave it the fuck alone, you amateur mongoloid."

and as we all know, everything phil fish says is wrong, because he's phil fish

though tbh i don't at all see the relevance of that quote

i mean maybe that's a dumb question, but it seems like the "gender fluid" folk have it nailed, logically speaking

they don't care what you call them

because pronouns are just words

the thing about gender is that it's bullshit

it's just a contrived social construct, unlike sex

so while i'll respectfully identify transfolk as whatever gender they assign themselves
i have to wonder why it matters to them

what difference does it make if i call you he or she
you're no less of a human being either way

Dont you dare modify that lego set you monster.

*sips tea*
LEGOs are specifically intended for you to create what you want with them. 99% of video games are not.
Plenty of people consider food to be art.
You can make art with food, but food isn't in it of itself art.

I want to state that I don't put condiments on my burger as I want to respect the work of the people at the grill that made it for me. Salt and pepper shakers are likewise, sin.
This is similar to something I was going to post. It's a good point.
But it isn't.

Food =/= art.

Even if it was, condiments are always on burgers anyway, unless you specify.

Wind Waker, Super Metroid, and Super Mario World are basically flawless.

SMW happens to be the most popular game to ROM hack of all time.

39866
ive already explained my argument time and time again. please, by all means, keep riding lucas' gangrene infected dick, but im done here.
And you keep riding Mike Stoklasa's.

*shrug*
Because no human being on the planet Earth ever harbored any negative feelings towards the prequels until Red Letter Media came along.
I'm willing to bet Azumarill probably got 90% of his arguments against the prequels from him.

That's not a bad thing, necessarily, but...

39867
Gaming / Re: The purpose of mods

Then that's a flaw with the industry. You'd still probably use mods even if the developers could make their game exactly as they intended it to be, so...

Gaming / Re: The purpose of mods

AND then you sell that game to the public, who then do their own artistic creations within your game in the events it becomes too stale.
That's why I'm not a game developer. I wouldn't be able to stand for that cuntflappery.

Except some of these mods are fixing glitches and bugs
That's the devs' job. It's common knowledge among developers, too, that it's like a hydra. You patch a bug, only to have three more in its place. Like some amateur is gonna know what the fuck he's doing.

It may have been your creation, but it is not your right to force people to do with it what you want them to do.
Who said I'd force anyone to do anything? All I said is that I'd take it offensively. Because it IS offensive.

If I make a game, everything that's in the game is how I'd intend it to be. No, there are no beach volleyball courses. There are no fucking pirates. My game is my game. You fuck with my game, you're fucking with my art, and I take that offensively.
