On the flip side you can find out things about them that you didn't know before. Like they enjoy the same books or outdoor activities as you and you can use that to form a stronger bond. i don't think you're reading what i'm saying i think in the ten years i've known these people, i would've learned what books they enjoy and what they like to do outdoors that's the sort of thing you learn within the first two years of the friendship past that, past the... five or six year mark, there's absolutely nothing you shouldn't know about your friends that you'd consider a positive trait--anything in the future that you learn from your friends is either going to be neutral, or negative

Sure perceptions can indeed change depending on how much you know or how long you've known a person, but it isn't always negative. Sometimes you'll find that a person you hate at first can become your best friend after you get to know them more. i'm just saying, i've had some friends for 10+ years, and the more new shit i learn about them, the less i like them like, "oh... you're drinking now? you're smoking weed now? oh, okay." it's never enough for me to be like, "we can't be friends anymore," but i mean, yeah, i think it IS true
