Plenty of other external aspects of gamer culture (including the analysis of those games for the purposes of evaluating art, or just letting people know which games you shouldn't waste your money on) are probably worth taking a little bit seriously.

But the general themes and ideas expressed by the game should give you an idea if the game is really misogynist or misandrist. Do you feel uncomfortable playing video games because men are killed in them? I doubt it. What is the most killed sex in those games? That's right men. Doesn't matter. Violence =/= sexism.
